Merit Source Application - dkbit98

After some thinking I decided to write this merit source application with intention to help other active members who are making good posts.
I have been active forum member for almost 3 years now, and bitcointalk has become part of my every daily routine, as well as writing in many topics including our local Croatian board.

This is my current merit stats from BPIP website:


Thanks to the great BPIP website and DdmrDdmr Merit Dashboard I also did some investigation with other members like Rikafip
and we found out that our local board was often times in top positions when we looked at activity and making post, but near bottom when we looked at merits.
I would like to contribute and change that and reward more good posts, not only in our local board but in all other forum sections, but often times I am out of sMerits.

Here are 10 posts deserving more merits:

2. Collect TEN posts written in the last couple of months by other people that have not received nearly enough merit for how good they are, and post quotes for them all in a new Meta thread.

Hopefully this will not be a serious eligibility to consider. theymos is a good man and I hope he accepts your application. We have not seen merit source application for a while.

I have seen some members posting links instead of quotes before, and nobody reads huge posts with bunch of text in foreign language.
It looks cleaner this way and it takes less space, but if all the big boys say I need to edit the post then I may consider doing it.

Yeah I've seen those applications too, that had links only. For example, Ratimov merit application that was approved. Or Last of the V8s merit application that is still pending, and no one had any objections.

Just to add that I am glad to see you applying for merit source, as Croatian local board could definitely use one more since we are constantly among most active local boards, and almost always at the bottom end when it comes to merit. Anyway, good luck and I hope that your name will be among those confirmed next time theymos decides to approve new merit sources!

I agree with you, and for merit applications I'd personally rather see a link instead of the entire post(s) quoted--but that's just me.  Theymos is probably the only person who needs to look at what posts you'd merit if you were a source, and I'm not sure anyone else has strenuously disagreed with choices made in that part of the application process (I doubt many members read them).

Anyway, you've got my support for whatever it's worth.  What I'm wondering is whether Theymos is going to add any more merit sources, especially since forum activity has dropped pretty dramatically.  I don't even know if new members are anxious to rank up anymore, since I haven't seen a lot of threads about merit in Meta.  They might be in B&H, in which case I wouldn't be able to see them, but it used to be the case that ranking up was of uppermost importance to any newbie on bitcointalk, because it meant that you could earn more money in campaigns.  Now?  I'm just not seeing the urgency anymore.

But good luck with your application in any case.  You've been a good contributor to the forum and have ranked up from scratch and so I'm sure you're well aware of the importance of the merit system.

It is really more clean and neat to post links instead of quoting the message. In fact, some of the users who will read your application will not read some of the quoted messages. More than that, I am happy that you run as merit source in this forum. I have seen a lot of quality post which deserved to get some merit that you are given. You deserve to be on merit source and hoping you can help the forum as well as the members who are struggling to get merits even they contribute a lot in this forum.

I really don't see any reason why someone's application would be rejected only because he/she posted links to his posts rather than quoting them. The focus is in the post content and local community support. As a member of the Croatian local board, I strongly support @dkbit98 application to become a Merit sourcer. He really is a valuable member of our community and has contributed very much. Good luck with the application.

If you're a close friend of lauda mozprognoz malboroza tman then sadly that has to be a no.
Merit sources should be less concentrated in the hands of close allies or friends.

The distribution already resembles pal points or political points.

It would be best if I were to be a  merit source.

Nothing against you personally but we need to start having some merit sources that are not all mates.
I think it would also be sensible to stipulate you can not be a merit source if you've worn a banner in the last year.

yeah, i got it that application should be filled as per instructions, but links instead of quotes is not that much of a mistake, so presume that application will proceed

This gentleman, I know him personally. Every day always do chit chat with him. This gentleman have a decisive ( little tiny bit cruel) and honest. You guys can criticism him as long you guys have solid proof. With all the contributions he has made in to this forum (especially the Croatian sub-board). I hope that @theymos will make him as one of a merit source. And don't forget he really hate scammer or project that have indication to be scam project. God luck for you senor.

Supporting your application and I believe you deserve you. I have noticed you are quite active on the forum and spreading your contributions over the forum as well. I can recall I had to wait almost eight months before approved for merit source. So not sure how long you will have to wait to become a merit source. If I am not wrong theymos not adding merit sources for a long time. So I believe he should add few more merit sources since new members have been joining on this forum continuously.

Anyway, good luck with your merit source application.

This is also my experience, I think I had to wait a few months for theymos to approve my application for a merit source.
It's likely that the new merit sources will be approved together as a group, as part of some new changes to the forum.
In any case, I have known dkbit98 for a very long time and I respect and appreciate his contribution on this forum.
Anyway I know dkbit98 for a very long time and I really respect and appreciate his contribution on this forum, especially his work on detecting fraud on the forum.
I'm sure that as a future merit source he will be able to contribute even more to the forum community.

I also want to support dkbit98's proposal.  I know him as a responsible participant in the Croatian section. I remember his investigations into detecting scam projects in the Scam Accusations.  Really respect dkbit98 for her firm position. I have no doubt that a fair merit-source will come out of dkbit98, which will be able to correctly evaluate worthy posts.
