US President Donald Trump's niece has filed a lawsuit, accusing him and two family members of fraud and conspiracy.


"Mary Trump alleges that Mr Trump, his sister Maryanne Trump Barry and brother Robert Trump, who died in August, cheated her out of an inheritance.

Ms Trump, who in July released a tell-all memoir about the president, is seeking to recover millions of dollars she claims to have lost.

Neither Mr Trump nor his siblings have publicly commented on the issue."

In Part 3 of the lawsuit it states: "They threatened to bankrupt Mary’s interests and terminated the health insurance that was keeping her nephew—an infant with cerebral palsy alive. Then they presented her with a stack of fraudulent valuations and a so-called settlement agreement, and forced her to sign. All told, they fleeced her of tens of millions of dollars or more"

This lawsuit probably will not settled out of Court, this is another situation involving Trump that will get messy...

if you want to transfer wealth between relatives tax free. treat it as a loan with a no repayment terms.

if you didnt research the true value of products services and you agreed to pay the prices invoiced to you by the middleman. then thats your fault.

i dont like trump but his financial advisors do know the loop holes well

the bit i dont agree with is the threats of bankruptcy and the withdrawal of healthcare insurance.. thats just bad on all human levels

@JollyGood since I couldn’t read the entire case file I found an article which had skimmed it down, and the very first question that came to my mind was the timing of the filing i.e. so close to the elections. Secondly let’s assume she’s right and she does a have a right to sue Trump, but this happened in 1999 and I don’t think that the court will accept her case in 2020 because the statute of limitations shall apply.

That was the second thing that came to my mind! The first thing was that she's just released her revealing Trump memoir (as mentioned by the OP) and perhaps wants to drum up some publicity that can be turned into book sales.
Some people might be tempted to conclude that she's doing this entirely out of self-interest, with little or no concern for anything else. Some people might also decide that certain personality traits have a tendency to run in families.

I'm not concluding that's her aim, but I strongly believe that's the case here, and imo, this lawsuit wouldn't go too far before it's dropped for one reason or another, or after she has achieved what she wants to with it. There's been so much dust raised around Trump this few months to the November Presidential elections, and the more this cases and allegations keep coming thick and fast, the more I can't help but think most of them are only either for political or person reasons/benefits without actually holding any solid foundation.

All top businessmen have an army of lawyers and accountants that know all the loopholes tax purposes.

As for cancelling the health care insurance on the infant with cerebral palsy it really is an unforgivable thing to do.

I agree Juggy777, timing is always a key indicator because dates of filings close to important dates or events could appear to show ulterior motives. In the case of Mary maybe she simply wants revenge on Trump and wants to sell as many books as possible but that still does not mean the events did not take place as she described.

As for the legalities about statutory filing dates, the Court accepted it so we will see if it gets thrown out - I doubt it will. I think this will go to Court and Mary seems to want to bring Trump to Court rather than settle out of Court. It seems a clear case of them swindling a 16 year old girl by fooling her and frightening her in to signing her share of the fortune her father left behind.

Seeing this right now have got me asking myself,
Why now? Is she just realizing it now or she feels it's the right time to file a case? Or perhaps she was scared of president Trump for the fact that he was on seat?
As rightly stated, the alerged crime was committed against her in contrast with other siblings, why use President Trump as the figure head?
Which ever it is, it's route would be dug up in due time.

Even if Mary Trump has ulterior motives what cannot be denied is that she served Court papers and is seeking litigation. She believes she was a victim of a crime because she was swindled out of her fair share of her estate after he father died.

Even if the timing of her Court case is suspicious (becaue she might want to sell more books to make more money) it does not mean she is not a victim and does not mean she should have her day in Court while Donald and others are called to give evidence trying to defend themselves about how they allegedly coerced a 16 year old girl out of her share of her inheritance her father left for her.
