Why do everything security related gets posted in 'Beginners and guides'?

Do we need a new section called 'security' or smth? Cause I don't know every new malware, about phishing mails, phishing apps gets posted in 'Beginners and guide' section, I personally don't find it posted there being relevant.

What is your opinion on this?

Because newbies are the target of such groups. That's why everyone wants to make them aware of possible scam etc.

Sure newbies are the target, problem is we never consider the fact that newbies who actually join the forum for discussing or developing a good rapport with other members are few only they are going to visit that section. 99% of them are new alts made to join the bounty spamming cesspool.

They are the ones who become careless and get phished more often than those who are careful about these things. Moreover a person who attempts to spam bounties all day to get paid is very likely coming from a lower income country, so they are more likely to carry an infected/malware-filled device, because of the habit of pirating OS, downloading shady emails and so on.

Still we always make people aware about things, never check if it reached the actual population who needed it.

Sure, that's a pretty safe assumption. But does it mean that we should actually stop trying to educate the minority that are actually interested in learning(and not spam bounties)? I don't think so. Ignore the bounty spammers and let them do their bounty things on the bounty sections, and let's just continue to try to make this space better for the real bitcoiners.

Security is basic and guides on security can be posted in Beginners & Help. I compiled that one Good topics on security and privacy and it is placed in Beginners & Help.

Cause I don't know every new malware, about phishing mails, phishing apps gets posted in 'Beginners and guide' section, I personally don't find it posted there being relevant.

Reports on phishing apps, sites should be posted in Scam accusations. News on phishing apps or sites can be shared in Beginners & Help but if one person detects a new phishing app or site, the announcement should be posted in Scam accusastions board.

Remember that security-related posts includes information about algorithms and protocols, not just malware alerts.

As one of the people who posts security-related threads there, the reason I chose that board is because none of the other boards are suitable for this content. Here are the problems with the most likely alternative candidates:

- Development and Technical discussion: not related to bitcoin so not on-topic. I could probably get away if the post is about cryptography, and not just bitcoin's cryptography like ECC and secp256k1, but also privacy related topics like GPG and password strength/brute forcing. But discussion about the technical aspect of malware and vulnerabilities are off-topic here.
- General discussion: It's also a bitcoon board so all the topics I mentioned above are off-topic here. Also my target audience doesn't read this board so my only viewers won't understand the content I post.
- Off-topic: Theoretically this board is where I'm supposed to be posting in, but his board has become a breeding ground of spammers. Nobody who understands what I write visits it anymore. This board has a low signal to noise ratio so my thread will be swamped under one-line shitposting garbage on the front pages, in a matter of hours. And nobody there is going to read what I write.

Beginners and Help is moderated more strictly than Off-topic and also my audience happens to frequent that board so it's the perfect place for me to write in.

Unless the security topic is specific about Bitcoin, IMO "Beginners & Help" is best places for news/guide related about security. Few might argue "Off-topic" is better section for it, but honestly there are very few genuine newbie who visit it.

Indeed, hence why it's called Beginners and Help. It's also a place to post guides and explinations in.

If the such guides are not relevant in the Beginners and help board then where else do you think they can be posted?
For any serious newbie looking for a guide, most concerning security, the forum and about bitcoin, Beginners and help board is surely the first place that will come up in their mind. I personally see nothing bad with guides and warnings being posted there.

I think that would help a lot, if that is irrelevant then mods would have already deleted the post.

Such information really help as most victims of scams are newbies, so it's better for them to see it to get educated with the possible scams and hacks by the scammers. I am not a newbie but I have something to learn reading from the guide posted in Beginners & Help section.

if there's an appropriate thread for this or will be segregated, the better.

A simple way is clicking report to moderator button, ask the moderator to move those threads to somewhere else. Newbie rarely visiting beginner board either, what I look, newbie frequently visiting 1.0 board and asking basic question about Bitcoin.

Beginners and Help section right then I don't find anything wrong with such kind of guides but some kind of information are not really new which already exists in other threads which should be avoided.
