BBC News - How worried should we be about deadly cyber-attacks?
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-54269045

From the above link is a video about how deadly cyber-attack can be, it has always been on the rise, more physical and dangerous to the extent even organizations like health care can be compromised. I still remember an attack recently on Argentina's border while the hackers demanding for millions of dollars. There are cases hospitals eqipments were hacked resulting to death of someone while the hackers demanding for ransom. I think there should be something to be done to curtail scammer malicious activities because many scam activities would have led to death of people.

How about on individuals, there are many people that their computers are compromized, even phones are not left out these days. Banking details, exchange account and crypto wallet details can be known to hackers and be used to steal from victims. I have a friend using an online wallet, the wallet was compromized within a single day, all he knew was his wallet balance that totaled zero. Few years ago, my brother that knows about trading got his exchange account compromized all because he unknowingly install a malware on his computer. There are a lot of cases like that.

What are the government doing, what are the organizations doing to fight cyber attacks. Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are not left out. I think hack is not beyond learning how to avoid it. But, I am confused, how are even government organizations and many other organizations getting hacked even from another country.

Cyber-attack has always be on the rise. How can this be solved?

I think you don't have to hit the panic button just yet. Cyber attacks are not some magic where the attacker can just wave a wand and your phone will brick in the next minute. The majority of those web wallet hacks or hot wallet hacks are coming from the users bad security practice, such as typing seed/private key when they log in, visited the wrong website, etc. I'm not sure which organizations you're referring to but most crypto based website/wallet developers/forum etc will always tell you to be careful and practice a good security awareness.

But anyway, it's crypto where you're fully in control of your money. Users should take some part in protecting their money and not expect others people to do it for them.

This should be the beauty of it. Being in control of your money is the best anyone can get from the world of finance, not just having the control 'but' enduring the protection of your privacy while online. Frankly, users of mobile and desktop devices should awake to this call of be protected always to avoid hack of any such.

Here are some good Antivirus Software that can be of help.

source

Install a good security antivirus software on your device for protection( this doesn't cost more than $70) . This has been the best way to keep our device safe from the hands of these hackers, if your device is protected then your money will be safe in your device. Thousands of crypto holders never care to install good security apps in their device and when hack cry fowls.

What are the governments doing? They're looking to enforce backdoors for them to turn the apps and tech into surveillance tools.

Check out this thread I wrote a few days ago about how exposed we currently are as tech advances. We're progressing only from a technological side, not from a security one as well - and that's scary. Those two should've progressed in parallel.

Cybersecurity education is a must nowadays, yet nobody pays attention to it. It all begins from the simplest and most widely known and used devices, such as surveillance cams - which hundreds of thousands do not secure properly, leading to the entire planet being able to snoop on them. As @joniboini said, most attacks happen due to our own fault.

@Becky666
Antivirus software does protect you from some points of view, but I would personally rather not have a software installed on my computer that has the capacity to scan my files and transfer certain data to strange servers - especially if I own some BTC wallets on the said PC. I haven't had an AV installed in years - I just do not download random files and avoid strange websites and it's been more than great so far.

Antimalware are good but very possible malware can still get through, there are newly produced malware of different types every time, what if the antimalware company have not yet produce antimalware against certain recent malware? People need also to be updating their antimalware everytime new update is out, but that does not mean some malware maybe not get through. Safe browsing should be the first to come to mind, if you can avoid this malware, your computer will not be infected. Getting the antimalware is good but having it in mind that it is possible for the malware not to be 100% effective will be good, we have to be very careful while online.

Cyber-attack has always be on the rise. How can this be solved?

Surprise surprise, as we move more and more into a digital world, it ain't stopping soon!

While operating systems and or internet services in general have been trying to make their ecosystems as secure as possible, one of the best ways to secure yourself is to educate yourself. In the first place, social engineering attacks whereas the hackers attack the weakest point(the user itself), has been one of the most effective types of attacks since you don't even need to be a best developer to be able to trick people into handing over important data.

Do you guys remember the wannacry hack? That was made possible by people running the same operating system on a network but seemed to compromise a lot of healthcare devices too. In the UK I'm pretty sure it knocked out almost all mri scanners for example and a lot of patient records (since the last backup were also wiped).

An employee that didn't know better on each network accidentally clicked a link in a phishing email - and midt things csn be compromised by phishing...

You are right, I made a topic recently about how the world are not focusing on educating people about scam. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5277727.0 but, they may only want to be a barrier for the decentralization of the internet. Check my later reply below that prove that even governments are not working towards educating people about how to avoid scam.

Yes, you are right. Even, very possible there will be an increase in the scam rate after the implementation of decentrlaized internet. But, people should understand that nobody may help during scam to safe victims. Government like it or not, decentralization is on the rise, they do need to be only looking for ways to protect people, they should also teach people ways to protect themselves. During my university days, I remember I was taught a lot in General Studies, but educating us about how to avoid scam which will even interest students was not included, even a course to be taught even in lower grade schools. Governments should try to also look for means to educate people that did not go to school on how to avoid scam using practical examples.

I like how the decentralized internet will be, it will be more robust in efficiency than today's internet. That, it will be good for governments to also focus on educating people about scam. The knowledge the guy above had even helped him to avoid such phishing scam.

An employee that didn't know better on each network accidentally clicked a link in a phishing email - and midt things csn be compromised by phishing...
I can not believe scams that are avoidable by not clicking malware links are becoming dangerous in this world. A certain type of malware has got people killed in the hospital. You can watch the video in the OP and check about a woman that died due to hospital hack that lead to hospital service not rendered to the victim at the right time.

Educating people and prosecuting them are two of the best ways to combat cyber attack, I have seen scammers getting prosecuted even if they are located abroad, when it comes to cyber attack, and every time you are online you should be responsible enough to educate yourself on how these cyber attack happens, you are the likely target if you are not fully aware how these scammers and attackers works, an ounce of prevention is always better than a pound of cure.

There are good anti-malware companies that stay upto-date with their patches and this will help in bad times, also, most of them has proven overtime that security depend on the user too. However, the ways individual surf the internet also matters becasue; nothing online is practically secure, even using VPN isn't secure either because they are not like 'comprehensive antivirus software'. But the use of VPN alongside this comprehensive antivirus software will definitely guarantee maximum security while do IoT.

The cyberattack will always happen from time to time.
But you have a solution to avoid that cyber attack by not visiting on the suspicious links and don't click any links that you think it is not secure.
When you get an email, you don't need to click the email link if you don't know.
You are responsible for all of the devices you have.
If you connect to the internet, you need to know the risk and know how to protect yourself.
Besides that, if you install AV, you need to buy the license to have full security from the developer, although it will not guarantee 100% security.

My observation in cyber attacks and hacking, viruses, etc. Seems like hackers are always finding a way to broke into something and have no limit in what they could really do.

A lot of articles online about hacking happened everywhere around the world, Avoiding suspicious links or having a strong password seems to be a great move, But I guess there is no system that is safe no hacking.

I've seen famous people or youtube creator that has multiple layers of protection like google authenticator that get the hack. But i guess security technology is also getting stronger, a lot of wallets are still unhackable.

I feel with every advance in technology, there is a back door been created to loosen security and ensure monitoring to a large extent.
I take an example from soiders on a mission that basically prefers to use old generation phones without GPS locator device and devices that sends a rather low wave or signal in contrast to new generation smart phones.
Cyber attack entails having your gadget being tapped and your privacy evaded but this can be done only when the user allows for some backdoor entrance. It's very much impossible to have your device hacked or tapped without some form of passage that must have been allowed by you.
Most users of different platforms and apps always hit the agree botton to T&C or apps to run without getting to go through that which is stated in the T&C or app agreement.
In that instance, a backdoor can be created which could be useful either immediately or later future. Not all apps are there to entice us for it's awesomeness. Some are solely there to perform a phishing function in disguise.
Be careful before agreeing to grant an app full access to your device as it could be you opening a backdoor for cyber attack which will always be detrimental to you.

Spending funds to buy and install trusted AV softwares are good but it is not the best way to protect your devices and your accounts, then funds from hackers. The best way is maintaining your healthy web-surfing behaviour.

Reason is AV softwares are only detect well-known threats or new threats that are similar to old ones already are stored in their database. Hueristic can help but it is not a complete safe-guard for your safety. Don't rely on AV softwares blindly like that.

In my opinion, the orders of importance are:
  • Healthy web-surfing behaviour
  • Second layer protection from trusted AV softwares

The story Hacker blackmailing me and ask for money. Did you also get this email? is a bad one from non-healthy web-surfing.

Virustotal and any other AV software can only recognize malware by 2 approaches:
  • Heuristics
  • Behavior analysis

Regarding Heuristics:
If the malware is either 1) new or 2) modified so that these AV's don't have it in their database yet -> No Heuristic to match the malware with.

Regarding Behavior analysis:
If the malware does not run malicious code when being analyzed (can be done with multiple techniques, e.g. checking whether being run in a sandbox) -> Not triggering the behavior analysis.

Now, if we combine these two statements, it becomes clear that it is quite easy to create malware which is completely undetected from AV's (at least until enough people have been infected with it and AV's have manually reviewed and sigged the malware as such).

Using AV's (whether paid ones on your computer, or online services like virustotal) does only protect you against 1) known and very wide-spread malware and 2) malware created by script-kiddies or any other non-commercial cyber criminals.

Cyberattack is one of the most very popular today because of the innovation and technology we are now getting dependent on it and there is a log of a hoax that this is the most dangerous thing right now because it's all about the Internet. Is there someone living without the internet? They can survive? I think not.  I'm talking about people who are already born with technology and not the indigenous people because they don't need to have a technological civilization.

The reason why as early as possible it's better to give enlightenment to the people about the use of the technology not all the time websites are safe and all of the links are legit. It's better to keep safe your information than preventing your good and no one can steal your info.

It's natural to worry about something in particular about the security of account and valuable asset in the online world. Cryptocurrency is very valuable money and it is also an asset that some cyber criminal are most interested in. They look for loopholes to find hackable targets and they never stop. Maintaining security is mandatory and AV is necessary, but I agree with @tranthidung that healthy web surfing is paramount. AV will only increase security from virus attack and the right behavior will prevent us from getting caught in a trap.

AV is very important on my computer so every time I list a website, if there is something suspicious then it is detected by the AV then we who always keep AV assets very important cryptocurrency from your computer because it is useful for minimizing suspicious viruses such as trojans and malware.
Hackers always have a way to initiate their actions, therefore the level of awareness of computers is very important.

Most "normal" people are safe from Cyber attacks, due to the fact that most Cyber attacks are done on high profile targets. Think, exchanges, healthcare systems, and banking systems. An individual such as yourself, and I aren't going to be massive targets. Sure, we can be targeted just like anyone else, but its far more likely that the malicious attacker would target the highest paying outcome, and therefore target bigger profiles.

Luckily, most companies have a cyber security team in place, and invest from hundreds of thousands, to millions per year to secure their platforms. So, what we can do as individuals is stay up to date with cyber security news, as well as learning the basic ways of protecting yourself online. More advanced attacks can be left to the experts. Of course, another way to reduce any information leaks, or attacks can be to stop relying on third parties whenever possible. The trade off of that is then you're responsible for protecting your information, and money, and depending on your skill set it might even be wise for a third party to be involved.

Anti Viruses are a waste of space for the most part. Unless, you're not very well informed about the vulnerabilities in the software you're using or your habits on a computer you can protect yourself even better than a anti virus. What I don't like about recommending anti viruses is it gives a false sense of security, and people assume what they're doing is fine due to the anti virus not flagging up a issue. However, the way anti viruses work is by keeping a database of vulnerabilities, and detecting them on a computer. Sometimes, they even guess whether something could be a virus or not leading to a lot of false positives.

If you download open source software, verify the checksums, and don't visit untrusted websites, without disabling most pathways to attacks (think javascript etc) then you should be fine for "script kiddie" attacks.

-snip-
From the antivirus list that you mentioned, I used Kaspersky as my second antivirus (Windows Defender as Win 10 Default Antivirus).
This is indeed quite helpful to ward off malware and viruses that will attack and secure the device while surfing the online world.

But the antivirus is also not a guarantee that the device is safe from malware attacks as said by Charles-Tim. malware can still penetrate it if the malware produced by hackers is a new type of malware. Antivirus vendors still need to work hard to provide database updates to ward off the new malware.
Antimalware are good but very possible malware can still get through, there are newly produced malware of different types every time, what if the antimalware company have not yet produce antimalware against certain recent malware? -snip-

The most important thing is how we use the device and surf safely in the online world. Be careful visiting websites because there will be lots of popup ads that will appear and will be dangerous and become a source of malware that can attack at any time. I have experienced an attack in the form of a ransomware .Exe file that camouflages itself as an application that I'm looking for. The fatal mistake that I did was not checking the actual file name and size again. That's a lesson for me, being careful and careful is very important even though there are many antiviruses that will protect, because we don't know when we will be attacked.

I just do not download random files and avoid strange websites and it's been more than great so far.
Avoid the opening strange emails, not using of web wallet with the inclusion of good antivirus and all whatyou mentioned should keep people save from online attack but people still need more knowledge about the information they share online and avoid human as soon as possible to be safe
