Of course, there are other altcoins which are faster and cheaper to use than Litecoin. But security is what matters above anything else. And Litecoin is much more secure than other altcoins on the market with small blockchain networks. Consider how Verge and Ethereum Classic have been subject to 51% attacks over the course of their lifetimes. This has never happened with Litecoin before (as far as I'm aware), making it a good long-term investment.

With the new update, it's expected that Litecoin's price will increase a little within the short term. For long term gains, the project is going to need to provide constant development and innovation to stay ahead of the game. Otherwise, Litecoin's price on the market will stall. Ultimately, Bitcoin's gain will be Litecoin's gain. In other words, if Bitcoin goes all the way to the moon, so will Litecoin and other altcoins on the market. I hope that with the new Mimblewimble privacy feature, Litecoin will able to distance itself from Bitcoin. It will become a unique cryptocurrency with a solid foundation in the mainstream world. Bitcoin is the Gold and Litecoin is the Silver. Litecoin (LTC) is my best choice for small amount of crypto transaction because Litecoin's transaction fee is very low. In 2017, when the price of BTC was 19000$, the price of LTC was 300$. But at present the price of BTC is >16000$ then the price of LTC is only 60$. In other words, there is no pump of LTC as compared to BTC. We hope that LTC will pump very soon.

i agree with you. Bitcoin is money. but we can't use it as currency because of high fees.

That's certainly true, mate. Most forks turn out to become a failure in the long run. They'll never be able to overcome the original projects due to their lack of adoption in the mainstream world. While Litecoin has some minor differences to the original Bitcoin project, everything else is just the same. Essentially, Litecoin is Bitcoin with a reduced block time, a different PoW algorithm, and a slightly higher supply. Despite both cryptocurrencies sharing similarities among each other, I think there's still a place for Litecoin in the mainstream world. People will find Litecoin to be much more attractive than Bitcoin because it's much cheaper and faster to use for daily payments. Of course, there are far better altcoins out there that are even faster and cheaper than Litecoin. But Bitcoin's sibling (Litecoin) is a tried-and-tested blockchain network which focuses on security/reliability than anything else. I guess that this will keep it going for quite some time.

With the new update in the works, it shouldn't be long enough before Litecoin experiences a small pump on the market. Actually, I did not notice that price of the LTC and this is the only time that I found out where a pump happened. There is a major resistance at $69 and luckily the LTC manage to break it. The current price is now at 75 but the momentum is not good because it suddenly dies and you can observe its volatility became low after the breakout so I expect that there will be some consolidation that may happen. For those people who are new in the market, do not expect that a certain coin can easily increase because we are talking about supply and demand wherein there are area in the prices where the supply is so high where the sellers overcome the buyers that causes the price to not increase.

Despite the latest announcements from developers, there doesn't seem to be much interest in Litecoin these days. That's largely because people are focused on "De-Fi" and big cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum. For Litecoin to gain traction, developers are going to need to bring new features to the Blockchain that are out of this world. Something innovative that cannot be found elsewhere will certainly pump LTC's price to the moon. Unfortunately, developers are not that active on the Litecoin project. It's why I believe that Litecoin will not rise in price on its own. The only way LTC will reach higher prices on the market is if there's a bull run. With Bitcoin rising at a fast pace, Litecoin and other major altcoins will be able to experience a small pump in price. But the effects will not last for long because of the reasons mentioned earlier.

Nonetheless, there are far better coins out there on the market which are faster and cheaper to use than Litecoin. It's no different than Bitcoin, except for a few tweaks like a change in PoW algorithm, a slightly higher max supply, and a faster block time. If Litecoin wants to make the difference, it needs to adopt features not found elsewhere. Otherwise, interest will continue to decline until Litecoin becomes history. Just my thoughts

Is not it ripple even better than litecoin in term of scalability or to be a payment system? I don't agree litecoin was the best crypto after bitcoin and eth. Litecoin offers the same thing that offered by a bunch of major coins.
These days we have a bunch of payment system too. The latest announcement of litecoin is also bring nothing to the price.

Maybe, maybe not. For what I know, crypto behaves in strange and bizarre ways. Litecoin's current pump is largely attributed towards Bitcoin's gains on the market. After all, the pioneer cryptocurrency has reached a new ATH (all-time-high) of $22k per coin. For Litecoin to be able to reach higher prices on its own, developers are going to need to bring something out of this world in order to attract people into it. A simple privacy upgrade like Mimblewimble won't do much in terms of long-term price. Litecoin needs a little "pizzazz" in order to stand itself among other cryptocurrencies on the market. Otherwise, it'll become nothing more than a speculative instrument (just like it's the case with Dogecoin today).

Nonetheless, time will tell us whenever Litecoin will reach a huge pump on the market or go all the way down the drain. Unlike most cryptocurrencies out there on the marke, Litecoin has a limited supply of 84 million coins. It's even scarcer than Ethereum itself. Yet, Ethereum has a higher price than LTC reaching a target of more than $600 per coin. This is odd, considering that ETH's max supply is undefined. A cryptocurrency with an inflationary model like ETH should be less valuable over time. Based on this alone, we could say that ETH is overvalued. That's not the case with Litecoin, as it's a deflationary cryptocurrency like Bitcoin. It's more undervalued than anything else. Sometime in the future, Litecoin will shine as developers work tirelessly to make it a success (hopefully). Just my opinion
