For long, politicians have been skeptical about crypto/Blockchain tech as it provides an "escape route" from the existing monetary system controlled by governments worldwide. Some of them have seen the benefits of this emerging industry, showing their support for crypto. In the US, a presidential candidate named "Andrew Yang" publicly expressed his support for crypto/Blockchain technology. Other politicians have touched the subject lightly. All of this is good since it helps Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies grow in the mainstream world. The same politicians supporting this emerging industry, could perform legislations to make crypto/Blockchain tech more legitimate in the mainstream world. Yet, the number of politicians supporting crypto is very small compared to those who don't.

Which politicians support Bitcoin? Do you think world leaders will embrace crypto/Blockchain tech at its fullest? Or will they go against it? What impact will mainstream politics have in the future direction of Bitcoin? Your input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Smiley
It would surely be divided but the ratio wont really be the same which isnt surprising. For those politicians who had see it positive then it might be on that personal preference but totally talking about some
recommendations or suggesting some bill then it would still be a long process yet lots of debates and argumentation will happen.

They might support it but it would be personal matter but at least there are still whom do consider the beauty of Bitcoin, not just making out conclusion but to tell that those politicians can really make use of it
to launder money which do sucks but its part of reality.

Bitcoin doesnt really limit out on who would be the one will engage on it.

Don't be too happy first if you find out that there are politicians who support Bitcoin, sometimes they do it for their own benefit.
It is possible that politicians support Bitcoin, because they store large amounts of Bitcoin, and want the Bitcoin price to go up,
in order to get a big profit. So it doesn't mean that if there are policuses that support Bitcoin, they will make Bitcoin legal or make
Bitcoin a means of payment.

When I heard from the media here in my Country, Bitcoins adoption is really impossible because of so much negative thoughts about it. However, there are two or more politicians who supported it and this two politicians definitely owned huge bitcoins that added more wealth to them. Maybe those old leaders could not understand nor accept it easily in the country because they used to learn the traditional ways of managing funds and physical investment. I guess, Government's acceptance/adoption in our country will take a long time and it depends on how open minded the leaders are. Its just a matter of deep understanding the Blockchain industry and the benefits it gives to people and for the country's economy especially at this strange time. I hope the whole Government could somehow realized the great features of Bitcoin and will come to legalized it.

Time will come that those leaders will eventually embrace the new technology and will support bitcoin, too. There are already some popular identities, government officials, big namrs in industry that are using bitcoin already. Thus, a good sign that bitcoin's adoption is spreading.

But, some will still not yet convinced about the greatness of this technology. As saying goes, "We can't please everybody". thus bitcoin can't also pleased all so expect some pessimists about it.

Government are actually supporting new technology and that the community should decide wether to join in it or not. But to those technology or platform that wi violate the rulings of the government then the government will imposed the implementing policies to protect the community.

I can see that due to love of cryptocurrency government had been letting the community for consumption but musy proceed with caution and this is the reason why exchanges here in our place had been given license to operate and made some caution, notice and the likes in every transaction made.

One way or other politicians from all over the world are forced to make a statement about the cryptocurrency and choose the sides.
If we will briefly look into the list of the top crypto-friendly countries we might notice that all of them are holding a strong position in the worldwide economy.
UK: Eddie Hughes made his statement noticing that all members of Parliament need to understand the future technologies and this is the core in current politic.
US: Jared Polis along with Gavin Newsom (crypto-friendly politics) were elected as governors. They made the support of Bitcoin as a part of the promotional campaign.
Sweden: Mathias Sundin became a member of the country’s parliament after funding his election campaign solely in bitcoin.
South Korea: Minister of science and information technology Yoo Yong-Min is a huge proponent of blockchain. Young-Min insists on the integration of the blockchain and that cryptocurrencies and the blockchain technology were considered as a single entity for regulatory purposes.

And I think if we will dig dipper we could find more examples of how it's important nowadays to be in line with new technologies in the world of politics.

They currently only see bitcoin as a profitable but risky investment, limiting their support for bitcoin and cryptocurrencies.

I think not only politicians are seeing it this way but almost everybody does. Most people buy bitcoin because of the profit they want to make while hodling it, so it cuts into many people that uses bitcoin is mostly for investment.
Because bitcoin is a risky investment, many governments and politicians are against bitcoin. In the future, cryptocurrencies and bitcoin need more changes that benefit the community, then people will have a more positive view of bitcoin.

That was such a bold move but is also risky but its still good for some politician to tackle that topic since it has the capability to help the financial services sector. It would also require lots of research on how it can be used with moderation and topics about it being abused.

Cryptocurrency in our country is not that great but some companies provide learning's with them like XEM or NEM. It would be good if some politicians take it into consider but might just end up being corrupted by bad management.

Everything's just a matter of time. It is slowly happening, the understanding of Bitcoin by politicians. However, if the current batch of politicians are really against Bitcoin, then I am more than sure the next ones, which are composed of younger minds, would be in favor of it.

It is expected that the old dogs are the hardest to convince. In the first place, Bitcoin is alien to many of them. Aside from that, they're already too comfortable and have a stake in the old system. Perhaps a great many of them are puppets of the old elites, the ones who built and benefited from the current system.

Eventually, the old generation will pass by paving the way for the new generation to take over the world. Politicians accustomed to the traditional monetary system of today will eventually pass out, leaving younger ones in the lead. These young politicians have been quite fond of technology, which means that they'll quickly adopt Bitcoin for their own benefit. But know this: if politicians heavily support Bitcoin and Blockchain technology, we could expect heavy-handed regulations on the industry. That is to prevent money laundering and other illicit activities (or so they say).

No matter what Bitcoin's stance will be in the political world, it'll be here to stay thanks to its decentralized and open source nature. The pioneer cryptocurrency is virtually immune from regulations in the mainstream world. That's largely because regulations can't be enforced on a geographically-distributed network. With or without support from the government, Bitcoin will do fine in the foreseeable future. Just my thoughts Grin

Then why are there countries with a positive attitude towards cryptocurrency? I think they have a reason for this. Some countries help miners, and in some countries people can pay for utilities with cryptocurrency. So what comes of this? Why is the attitude so different and what is right?

The government and politicians in any country will not legalize bitcoin, according to them bitcoin can weaken the country's economy, but behind that all politicians are mining their bitcoins using a lot of electricity, assuming their electricity is the responsibility of the state, meaning they get profit with free electricity, this is one cunning ideas forbid others and they want to enrich themselves.

Very interesting question. Definitely cryptocurrencies like bitcoin really gaining more investor on daily basis so it has become powerful currency all round the world. Every government has their own thinking on these crypto. Some are implemented their rules and regulations. Some government Saying bitcoin has good future. So there is mix review but I think every government will support bitcoin just like gold.
From my country india government are looking to make some rules and regulations about bitcoin.
The main thing is that government always want control on anything and bitcoins are out of control from government.
But government has no on public money that where this money going to invested.

We don't know which politicians support bitcoin, especially if in his country prohibits cryptocurrency. If politicians can accept the new thing, he will try to invest in bitcoin, but he will not tell other people because bitcoin's legality is not clear. I think world leaders will embrace crypto/blockchain technology as a new thing to help their finances, but they need to research first before they legalize it.

We can see that in the country that accepts crypto/bitcoin, they are not against it, but they make crypto regulations, so there will be no problem for people when they used it. I don't know the impact of bitcoin, but I only think that bitcoin will become popular and reach more people in that country.

We really don't know who really are those politicians that rejects and supports Bitcoin aside from those who are vocal about it in public  but let us assume that they already know what Bitcoin is, why? because they are the one who will decide to regulate crypto. They have to discuss it before implementing rules on crypto exchanges on certain countries whether they are going to allow such operations or not. In short politicians might be secretly investing in cryptocurrency or even use it to fund something related to secrecy because they all know Bitcoin is decentralized and their shady operations will not be exposed. Bitcoin earns critics from people who are against it but now look at how far Bitcoin has achieved. Countries started to support it as mode of payment and investment but still government issued warning to people about possible loss due to volatility and scams. My country supported Bitcoin and we actively have maybe 3 local crypto exchange that fully supports Bitcoin and we are happy for that. 😁

The only instance when I heard about politicians holding Bitcoin was around three years ago, and that was from Ukraine. Check this:

https://www.coindesk.com/45-million-ukrainian-lawmakers-reveal-big-bitcoin-holdings

Apart from that I have never heard about any of the politicians (at least the mainstream ones) holding cryptocurrency or at least talking about it in a positive manner.

Cryptocurrency is a really good alternative way of the financial system, it has a good purpose for every life of the citizen, there are some other countries that dont try to use any cryptocurrency because of thinking that it is a scam. This is really good news because it came from politicians which have the credibility to persuade other people to use and gain knowledge about cryptocurrency, it will them a lot especially with our current situation.

Most of us are not that into the use of bitcoin at first when we started to invest on it.

Let's accept the fact that some of us really doubted bitcoin before because it is not that popular and not in the mainstream.

But right now, some governments are legalizing and allowing bitcoin transactions in their country which is a good step for bitcoin adoption. For me, I think the reason why some governments still hate bitcoin is that they don't see it as a potential currency that can help and reduce economic crisis. They still think that bitcoin is not a real currency and they are still staying with the use of fiat.

Governments should learn how to use bitcoin in the market and economy and try its full potential even if it is still developing.

I think once crypto particularly bitcoin will go into mainstream, politicians opposing bitcoin will change their views on bitcoin and people will surely follow what is trend.

I guess if politicians are open to this kind of business maybe they will be into this, why? because if they keep their money into crypto who will know that they have this kind of investment, an amount keep from the eye of tax payers, first of all there is no way to trace your transactions point to your name due to its special features. So maybe there are lots of officials who are into this who works silently, who knows they might be one of the big whales around. Shocked Shocked

I think some politicians are open to bitcoin, and they invest some money in bitcoin too. But they don't tell their friends because they don't want to get trouble. Or they use bitcoin as the investment from the other sources' income, so they don't pay the more taxes. We don't know the truth, and we can only guess if the politicians buy bitcoin or they don't care about bitcoin.
