Mostly I find new coins on both Coinmarketcap [1] or Coingecko [2]. But sometime I also check in both Announcements (Altcoins) [3] or Tokens (Altcoins) [4] section in this forum.

@jawhead999 suggested sites for checking coins are good in those sites you be meet with the coin
+price, volume, supply, rating/ranking

Be that as it may, I would like you know if you see a high price or to you a good price on a crypto-coin doesn't exempt it from a counterfeit coin. There are alts which price on sites like those are good, holders even got excited but could not take any profit from it, there are reasons to that. Hope you add this to your knowledge when you are on it -your research-.

Still, I can't trust different websites listed as coins. My coin can be listed there by sending money. Now I have started to follow this forum. The most easy and trusted way to find a new altcoins (before listed exchange). After the listed exchange, I take information only from the coinmarketcap. I can't remember the last time I visited these websites. To get information about fresh coins, I checked the new altcoins list in the coinmarketcap.

Those were ico list sites but i will put icodrop to be included into the legit platform just like CMC as so many legit coins have been started from there too.
Just look at more than 80% of coins that listed on the icodrop has become the successful coins.

AVAX, DOT, FILECOIN, SERUm and many more but when OP wanna see the coins that have already traded on the exchange site and then CMC should be the best answer for that.

Aper from the obvious sites like coinmatketcap and coingecko which have been suggested have a look at uniswap where a lot of coins get listed. But be aware that there are many fake Tokens listed in uniswap as it's a DEX.

To find new coins, people have to do mixed finding works.

Coinmarketcap or coingecko only give you list of coins that are listed on their websites. Sometimes (rarely) new coins will be listed on those sites very quick. Mostly it takes time for new coins to get acceptance and be listed there. They have their investigation and screening procedures to avoid listing scam coins. By that I meant projects are listed on those sites can bring you feeling that they are not scam projects but it is not always true.

Coins that are not listed on 2 big sites have more risks of scam projects but once again you can find good projects among them.

You can check this board https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=238.0 there are many projects that being promoted in this forum. If they are successful they will launch the coin/token in some exchange.

But be careful, there are some altcoins who just have the intention to scam the user, I myself always check this board https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=83.0 to know it, there are some user here who have high knowledge to investigate a project.

Uniswap was also creating the token list feature where the users can also try to take a look or search the coin that they wanna try to trade it using the swap service but there are also so many scam tokens that have the same name as the real coins.
IMO if that's not a good suggestion for the newbie to use the uniswap as the new users can't know the differences between the scam and real coins.

It's better use CMC and know the market of such coins.

For the new ICO/IEO coins, and tokens I usually check them at https://t.me/Generation_Crypto

For the coins that are already listed, I check them at coingecko or coinmarketcap but mostly on coingecko because CMC takes a long time to list new coins on their site.

Follow different people that belong to a famous crypto team like there CEO, COO and CFO in there social media account like Twitter and LinkedIn. Then add all suggested people that connected with them. They usually post a new project that they are supporting or advising. In that way, you can guarantee that the project you are scouting is legit because it involves a person you trust. This is the only way to enter on new project before it hits major publication like coindesk.

i also usually wonder how some people get to know about the new projects but with this source you just shared i think this will really be helpful if not for anything but just to keep me updated and perhaps stumble across a good project that might be beneficial as well, i know cmc and coingecko serve that purpose but am more about getting it as it is newly launched so i hope this sources can serve this purpose.

I can add couple more sources I personally use - coindesk markets twitter/website; thecryptodog on twitter drops fresh good projects to invest in.
But mostly I use coinmarketcap and coingecko of course, you got to make your own decisions and draw own conclusions at the end of the day

i also usually wonder how some people get to know about the new projects but with this source you just shared i think this will really be helpful if not for anything but just to keep me updated and perhaps stumble across a good project that might be beneficial as well, i know cmc and coingecko serve that purpose but am more about getting it as it is newly launched so i hope this sources can serve this purpose.

i know there was a kind of voting thing and other mechanics in order for the project or a coin to get listed on cmc or on gecko  .

in short listing on them arent snappy and easy , . there could be that site where we can see the fresh new project exclusively , those sites can be small sites and are not strict . forums , social media , like that  . projects can easily get posted and get noticed on here without cost but on other mediums they need to pay to get advertise in the front page .

I do regularly surf this forum for new projects and usually i find here other than this i follow some good crypto investors and influencers at twitter which also helps me in getting updates regarding good new projects but lately i have become very choosy while investing and i rarely invest in new coins now because i am already holding quite a number of coins.

Mostly I find new coins on both Coinmarketcap [1] or Coingecko [2]. But sometime I also check in both Announcements (Altcoins) [3] or Tokens (Altcoins) [4] section in this forum.

I agree with you, because to look for new coins, we can see the two markets that you mentioned, namely coinmarketcap and coingecko, because for now the two markets are most popular today and also many new coin features.
