Check out the link of JeromeTash posted. Thats a good guide for cancelling and editing transaction. Also may I know what wallet you are using? Do you use a third party app to send and received eth? The best wallet for me is metamask cause features ate there whether you wanted to do something like replacing gas fee or cancelling unlike third party app that doesnt have much at least for some.

I rarely use ETH; maybe it should note that the methods in the guide also do not guarantee complete success. So please be careful when trying it. The easiest way to do this is by sending a 0 ETH transaction to your own address with the same nonce and a higher gas price. This will cancel out your first transaction.
There is no guarantee this will work, nor that it will work every time. You may end up sending two transactions if you don’t follow the process carefully, and even then there is no guarantee.

I have seen it somewhere where I had made some transfer of eth to other wallet using meta mask. I already did approve the transfer in meta mask and when I check it using the tx code sent or shown by metamask I then copied it and check it at etherscan.io and says it is pending. There I have seen the word cancel in color red. If the transaction still in pending try to check it to etherscan.io using tx code and then try to look if there is a cancel button.
It is very unfortunate that I was not able to make a screenshot with it to support my claim. Anyway, had anyone tried this also? Let us wait for other users reply.

The easiest way is to use MEW or MyCrypto and send a self-transfer with the nonce of the pending transaction. Assuming you send it with the right fee, your previous pending TX should be no longer on the mempool when the latest TX of the same nonce is confirmed. It's not cancelling per see, but should work. CMIIW.

I entered more gas and when that transaction got confirmed, the first one was dropped. I guess canceling works in the similar way.

Do a self-transaction of 0 ETH with higher fees than previous one to your address with same nonce. Previous one will be become invalid. Next one will be executed. Thus you can cancel your pending transaction.

People before me gave you links to guides, but no one did not mention this. You can only drop transaction that was not confirmed yer but sitting in mempool. Transaction with to low fee to be accepted in block. Once transaction gets in block and is confirmed you cant drop/cancel it anymore.

If OP cared to carefully read through the guide of which link I drop him then he would know what to do since the guide clearly talks about pending transactions. Also, If you also look at OP's question. He's asking about how to cancel pending transactions and not confirmed transactions.

It breaks the original reason why people need to cancel pending transactions. Pending, not already confirmed transactions. For already confirmed transactions, if someone has enough dominant hashrate, that one can only reverse transactions with replay attacks. It is reverse, not cancel transactions and the more confirmations one transaction has, the less risks of transaction reverse on it.

This is the coolest way out. During the periods of abnormally great volumes, transactions take much time to be mined. If the transaction is in Pending status (stuck) - you can substitute replace it with a new one. Simply send zero ETH to your address (the higher gas price, the same nonce). This stuff will undo the 1st transaction.

You can replace your transaction with same nonce, but different amount, think nonce as the id of your transaction. In other words, you replace the transaction which have the id (nonce) with new detail transaction. If you want to cancel, just using 0 ETH amount to cancel it (nothing to send) but with using appropriate gas. But i think you already got the answer from bitcointalk community now.

With 35 Gwei as fee for average (in speed) transactions, I hope that people can use good fee and avoid pending transactions. https://ethgasstation.info/calculatorTxV.phpWhen fee is at 150 Gwei, people hope it falls to below 100 Gwei. When fee is at 100 Gwei people hope it decreases to 50 Gwei. Now when fee is at 35 Gwei, people hope it will drop to below 20 Gwei. Don't be like that and get stucked.

Thanks and good information in this thread for someone new to these technical aspects because it can greatly help when the network is busy and transactions are being held up un-confirmed for hours and even days at times. I would love to know if there is any similar way to cancel bitcoins transactions as well and if there exists a link to all these transaction related deep facts like until today I was not aware of this method of cancelling the transactions but now that I know this will help a lot because at times when making small transactions I am often stuck with unconfirmed transactions and used to wait hours for confirmation. Thank you for the replies, along with OP his helped me too quite a lot.

Just replace it with empty transaction mate, if you using metamask, it will be more easy. You can resubmit the transaction you submitted with higher gas and same nonce, but with empty amount of ETH.

You can not cancel and reverse the transaction on the Ethereum network as you know that the Ethereum wallet gives you the totally decentralized client side managed account. But, if your transaction is pending on the blockchain you can cancel the transaction.

That will probably do when transaction is not yet confirm and nodes still updating the transaction and broadcasting it to the network. Every several minutes to which transaction has been process it will be stored on a memory pool where it will be mine or will created a blocks from the miner to include in blockchain. This is far as I understand more on about transaction. So, if you will going to replace the transaction with higher fees then it will be mine quickly by the miners and the other old transaction will be rejected. This is somehow like to avoid double spend on the crypto that has been process both in the same time.

I think answers had been given enough and if you already cancelled the transaction then better close this thread or update what had happened to that said transaction. Like what already said above,i experienced this same when my transaction pending for almost a day,i did send a 0 amount to my wallet and use higher gas fee and yeah that first one got cancelled. You can not cancel and reverse the transaction on the Ethereum network as you know that the Ethereum wallet gives you the totally decentralized client side managed account. But, if your transaction is pending on the blockchain you can cancel the transaction.
Read post above you before making your own one, because it seems like you are just reading the title and not the thread itself .
