Dear community.
Tyler Winklevoss has joined a petition for approval of the drug AMX0035 by the FDA that serves to improve the health of patients with ALS.

Let's all sign together for the memory of Bitcoin legend Hal Finney whom we lost to ALS in 2014.

Quote
Attention all Bitcoiners. As many of you know, we lost #Bitcoin legend Hal Finney to #ALS in 2014. Join me in signing this petition to bring AMX0035, an experimental combination of two existing drugs, to ALS patients ASAP. #wecantwait

Just a heads up for the privacy freaks out there: we probably don't need to input our real information to their website. Entering false information(like I did) will probably have the same effect; assuming signing such petition actually helps in the first place.

It doesn't look bad either, just using Facebook signs the petition, but does it look safe to sign using our original social media, but I will look at it further at least reminiscing about Hal Finney
I would not connect my social media profile to do that (especially Facebook, who knows what they will do with it). Just register with a throwaway e-mail if you want to sign the petition.

Yup. With petitions like this, I don't usually use my personal account for such. I just don't feel that there's a need to do it.

Agree.

There's no need for real info. Something like this, I've signed before and didn't used my real info and it did push through.

Thanks to everyone for your support.
It is true that privacy matters to all of us. But human quality is invaluable and it is a privilege that we have because we have the opportunity to demonstrate it in the course of our lives.

I think that you once read this thread written by Hal Finney and felt each paragraph the better anecdotes that he shared with Satoshi Nakamoto in the creation of Bitcoin and also how he described his feeling when suffering from ALS. Touching!

Bitcoin and me (Hal Finney) https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=155054.0

I think it is time to support people with ALS.

I will support this. Thanks!  Grin I had a friends dad pass from this awful disease. so sad to see Hal Finney die like this. He had his body froze in cryo plant this way when there is a cure and they have the technology to. They will bring him back to life supposedly.

Unfortunately, it's too late to support this petition. At least that's what I saw when I entered the website, the campaign is over. I see that it gathered enough people and was put forth to the FDA, but I don't see their response to it, and I'm not optimistic about it since Phase 2 is too early to get drug approval and availability (although in case of a disease that kills everyone who has it, I think they should've made an exception because things cannot go worse).
A friend of mine is a young scientist researching this disease because while it's one of the most devastating ones, it's also one of the most mysterious diseases with very limited knowledge of what causes it and thus what could possibly be done to assist people. I hope his research succeeds.
