Accidently found how to posting on this forum without typing on a keyboard. I use voice and talking with my headset to posting on this forum.



You don't need any code and software to do this. For windows just go to Windows Speech Recognition - Set up Speech Recognition - Select the type of microphone (headset recommended) - try your voice - and next if you have privacy concerns select Disable document review - next Use manual or voice for activation mode.

It's not only about making a post in the forum using this speech recognition tool, with windows having this feature enabled you can do it anywhere when you need an input. So, this is no way a meta topic 😛

I am not a fan of voice assistants. In Windows, you can have Cortana: What is Cortana?. I have never cared to use Windows' Cortana. Maybe some people will need it but I don't if I can see and can type to search.

Your idea is good because it comes from Windows. For third party applications, they are unsafe to use.

By the way, is it only available? for Windows 10 users? how about the other OS? or some low version of windows, can we still use this program or not?

that's true, We are also can write using voice typing on Android. sometime I'm using it when I'm driving. of course using this make us easy to type, but as ocTradism say may this way not safe for our privacy.

I know it for a few years. I also tried it sometimes for checking the accuracy of voice typing for searching on google or in MS word. It works quite good but it helps when you have something commit to you memory. And when you need to think before typing the words I think it less helpful in this case. And personally, I always love to write than speach typing.

You probably don't understand all the features of speech recognition. Have you ever attended school? Did you write dictations? This function is exactly that. You dictate whatever you would like to be printed in the message. But if you don't speak English, it won't help you in any way. The voice assistant will type in the language in which you dictate the text. If there are mistakes in speech, then, for the most part, mistakes will be in the text.

Windows speech recognition is not working in all laptops.
It depends on the language that your computer is set. If the language that you have set your computer is not supported by the Windows speech recognition you will not be able to used it. The solution is to switch the language to a supported one - such as English.

Speech recognition sucks most of the time, sometimes I used to do that on my mobile but trust me it will make your posts worse.But that is a useful idea for someone lasy like me but I hope windows will provide better voice recognition in their future updates.

my husband and I live in a cramped house, if I use a voice assistant it really disturbs my children, it's much better if I only use the keyboard. but I think this is a good idea for those who are lazy to use the keyboard.

This usually applies to lazy people once you type lazy on the keyboard i find it very annoying to use once we start typing by opening the keyboard on our android phone we've to face a drag once we attend a difficult word we will not type the word properly. Also, it is not guaranteed that what you were saying will be clearly understood by the software because we have different accents so I think instead of making it easier you will be annoyed instead and I experience it first hand, for example in using Cortana in windows it's so annoying that I decided to permanently disable it.

What about if you are not an english speaker?or fluent ?would this be helpful as well?

Even if you are typing still the information will be collected so you can't avoid this simply because you think that if you say in voice then your sensitive information will get leaked.

Okey people, I read the problem with voice language. I will try to do the best for you all.

there is 2 step you must try it.

1. let's try to change display language windows 10,

• open setting
• Go to Time & Language
• click on the Region & Language
• select the language you want to display Windows 10, if your language isn't ready, click option then download language you want
• when downloaded, select language as default

2. next step is change the Speech Recognition Language

• go to control panel
• click Ease of Access
• then click Speech Recognition
• click Advanced speech options
• select language your set as default at 1st step

I've tested a few voice assistants for fun. Google Assistant is well ahead of the others. Alexa is better at voice recognition than Siri but requires you to memorize and use commands. Siri is much smarter than Alexa in not requiring the commands but it is not as good as recognizing your voice.

I too instead of typing a lot on the keyboard to write posts here, e-mails, take notes I use a chrome voice to text extension via microphone, it's much more comfortable and I found myself very well immediately

Noise is one of reasons i never really used it that much.  I just see it as optional writing tool incase of emergency, when I have something on my hands, or when I want to test it.
Not sure if i have ever used it on computer for anything serious. Tend to be more  accurate and easy on phones than laptops.
