Hollywood capitalizing on One coin Ponzi scheme as they are going to turn this one into a movie - starring Kate Winslet.

Quote
Oscar winner Kate Winslet has boarded Fake! a project that MGM has acquired for producer Jennifer Todd under her first look deal at the studio.

Scott Z. Burns, who won rave reviews for his 2019 political drama The Report about idealistic Senate staffer Daniel J. Jones and his investigation into the CIA’s post 9/11 Detention and Interrogation Program, will write and direct, and he’ll produce with Todd. Fake! reps a reteam between Winslet and Burns, the latter who wrote the 2011 pandemic Steven Soderbergh-directed movie Contagion in which the actress starred. Winslet will also produce Fake!

Fake! is based on the book by Jen McAdam with Douglas Thompson, based on the true-life story of Jen McAdam and her involvement with the OneCoin Ponzi scheme. The book is currently being shopped around to publishers for this year’s Frankfurt Book Fair. McAdam will executive produce the movie.

What do you think of this? Will crypto be in the bad light specially if this movie comes out and portray it as some kind of big Ponzi Scheme again?

of course unless they will going to turn the story upside down like defending cryptocurrency not a ponzi scheme projects instead a way to financial literacy.

But if they will going to degrade and include cryptocurrency in their movie and added some details like hacking, phishing and doing fraud activities then high chance that cryptocurrency will going to be in a down trend until such if there are more movies like this then all will be gone. Sad but movies sometimes represent the wrong thing and wrong concept to their viewers to believe that wrong conception became right to the viewers and no one will going to believe in cryptocurrency in the long run.

Please do not connect one coin to crypto and blockchain, it was sold as a decentralized crypto coin but in reality it was a fake coin that never existed on blockchain. So please we should avoid headlines that can negatively effect overall reputation of crypto market.

It can have bad effect but if we see the larger picture this will send crypto message across and crypto will become more popular and it will be talked in every household. So more people will research about it and more will join it. There are always two sides of the story so i would go with the positive one.

No worries even Fiat money use in different kind of scheme . It will not affect the market and the will of the persons who want to invest in crypto currency. That movie can also help all those people that planning to invest they willl learn many things like what kind of investment should be avoided before entering here.

I remember those fucking days on where lots of people i have seen on my timeline which do keeps advertising about one coin and when the time i do make up some
search it doesnt really even had a blockchain and im saying to myself like WTF? also the same with that Mavro coin of MMM which are just totally some piece of shit ponzi scheme things
but there are still lots of dumb people who do easily fall into the trap just because of their pure extreme greed. On this one, the producer itself or one coin involved in the movie then
people who do have experience will really able to directly spot it out but for those people who doesnt even know on what crypto is then will surely do the same mistakes again.
When busted up then another bad image on the crypto sphere once again.

Did we care about the movie?

Wel all know Ponzi not only on crypto, we already saw Ponzi before the cryptocurrency was born so no matter where the scam in crypto or not all the problem always on the victim. When they are falling into the ponzi trap by dreaming want to get rich with faster without zero risk, nothing gonna effect at all about the movie we don't really care.

If the production studio is MGM, the movie would be great (I think). Movies about Ponzi is always interesting to me, like Wolf of Wallstreet (Ponzi to some extent).
I don't think this movie will give (more) bad reputations to the crypto industry; conversely, it might educate people to be more cautious with the scheme. I expect people to put money to reputable coins instead of scammy icos/altcoins, which would be beneficial to the legit crypto.

this is interesting, also don't forget the bitconnect. i can't wait to see one for bitconnect because i think bitconnect probably have deeper crimes and involving more criminal rings.
this would tell people to be careful with their investment, invest in crypto is not a get rich quick thing and people could lose everything.

I didn't agree with it even you were saying it will send a crypto as a massive promotion to the people in the world but in reality when you were promoting something in a bad massage and it will bring the product to get a lot of negativity from the viewers.

It will bring a lot of negative opinions about ripple. Why didn't he just create a film about the bitcoin? That will much better rather than take the scam case called onecoin as a theme to be used as a movie.
That's crap.

I am thinking of the opposite, this movie could probably give education to people, or they will be curious about crypto especially those who does not know or has a little understanding only, they will certainly search online, the movie alone can't educate them but it could give some exposure, and with that I expect that it will help crypto to boost and be more popular.

Yeah, Actually I accidentally knew cryptocurrency because of ponzi scheme that I invested when I am still new on online investment. That time, Bitcoin and Dogecoin are two currency that only accepted onost of ponzi scheme so this means that ponzi already existed before and obviously this movie will not gonna change anything in crypto reputation.

Actually it will give a good effect because people might be educated to avoid ponzi scheme because there still many people investing and believing in this kind of scheme.

Crypto will definitely be shown in bad light. They'll do just whatever sales. But, I'd love to see The Titanic Lady as Ruja Ignatova. Will they cast Leonardo DiCaprio as well? Roll Eyes

I think it depends on the angle at which the writer wants to see it from, if he wants to pant the crypto space as a whole has been scam then it is bad but if he just highlight Onecoin and stress the advantages of digital currencies like Bitcoin then this is good. I personally will not watch the film

This must be a good initiative to educate those people on how the crypto Ponzi scheme works. for the sake of those who may fall victim to this kind of scam, they really need to make such movies so that people will have their own knowledge regarding the crypto Ponzi scheme the new way to scam people. I've seen movies such as this but they tackle some other scamming method which is the networking scam. You can watch this movie if you want to know how the networking scam works.

We don't have to generalize it, every coin is different from the other one. Just because they are both cryptocurrency, it does not mean that they will end up the same way. As I read the unpleasant experience of Jen McAdams, I feel that it will open the eyes of investors about trusting a stranger and believing an easy money investment. I think that it will teach an important lesson to investors that may influence them to be aware that such circumstance may happen if they easily trust a high promising profit.

Cryptocurrency has already gained more limelight through the help of the pandemic but the Hollywood using the crypto queen and teams scam activities to produce a movie is natural cause the movie industry is know for creating movie about the story that break some record but I just hope the message they will spread through the movie will be the benefit of crypto and how people can prevent themselves from scammers instead fud.

I just watched, The Fantasy Island, and it's interesting that one of the character has mentioned BTCGrin

But for this movie? I think this is more on education for non-crypto, so it could really cut both ways, meaning they learn how crypto works and then they can decide if this is really crypto or not. So this could really bring some positive in the long run though, and crypto has already had a bad rep isn't it?  The message is already there, so let's see how the movie will come up though and judge it for ourselves. And this is still publicity, whether positive or negative, so I'm not complaining.
