Receiving bitcoins tp my electrum wallet

i requested bitcoins from my electrum wallet and received it successfully..but for my next bitcoin transaction I did not request for the bitcoin..but used the old address from the previous request in the electrum wallet...please will that affect my transaction or will I receive my bitcoins even though I used an address from a previous request

No it's perfectly fine, addresses don't expire.

If you value privacy then it's recommended you use a new address each time you want to receive funds...

He might be using an Electrum mobile that has a request button and expiration date?

You can set it to "never" so that it won't be expired just like this





But it won't be a problem if the address you use is from previous transaction just make sure that you have control of that address.
Much better always check your address under addresses you can find it on 3 dots to make sure that you sent your Bitcoin the right wallet.

Funny thing is: you won't be needing the receive tab to "receive" bitcoins.
The function of that is to add the description that you put when a transaction went through that address (saved only in the wallet file)
and to show the user his unused addresses probably to prevent address reuse.

But as stated, it's safe to reuse them but not recommended for privacy reasons.
You can view all of your used, unused and change addresses in the address tab (View->Show Addresses).

Client-sided, the so-called "request" feature is nothing but assigning an address of yours a specific description.

Addresses never expire. You can use them as often as you want. There are privacy implications with that, as previously mentioned, but no problems with functionality of your wallet / the network.
Addresses are derived from a public key, which is derived from the corresponding private key, which itself is derived from the seed / mnemonic code. As long as you have this backed up, you have access to the private key associated with your address. And with that, to every transaction received to that address.

If you have access to the mnemonic code / seed, you have access and full control over the wallet.
Whether an address is "expired" doesn't matter, because the concept of expired address doesn't exist.

Are you referring to a Non-custodial and Custodial type of bitcoin wallet?

Having the means to have a full control over your wallet means that you hold your own private key/ seed phrases so that no else will be able to sign and broadcast a transaction on your behalf hence it is called a Non-Custodial wallet.

Custodial wallet on the contrary means that your private key is being held on a third party custodian in which you don't have any control making your bitcoin vulnerable from being controlled or hacked.
