I'm surprised to find that there isn't a Technical Altcoin Section.
The main Altcoin Discussion Board is clogged with random meaningless topics, and there's no place for the real questions, why so?

Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

The technical section would probably end up the same

Imo if a community is large anough, it should have its own forum or at least a few channels on social media people can use to contact other people with more experience for help.

Because the altcoin section consists of shitcoins altcoins with tons of different technologies/protocols/etc.

If you have a question to a specific issue with a shitcoin altcoin, you can always check reddit or ask the developers.

Most technical issues with shitcoins altcoins would probably end with "it is a bug, because you know.. it is a shitcoin".
In the end, this is bitcointalk.org, not shitcointalk.org.

I agree, but then why is there a Altcoin section at all?

The entire series of altcoin sections plays second fiddle to all the other bitcoin-related ones.  Always has, probably always will, and I'm pretty sure Theymos wants it exactly that way.  I think he was throwing the altcoiners a bone by creating the altcoins sections, and I also think that the ones he created are all there are ever going to be.

If you're interested in a particular altcoin and its development, most have links on their websites to some sort of discussion community--and if there isn't anything like that on the altcoin's website, it probably means the coins is dead or dying.  In any case, I don't think we need any more altcoin stuff on bitcointalk, because any new sections would likely be taken over by shitposters within minutes of their creation.  Bounty hunters tend to flock to Altcoin Discussion/Speculation in case you haven't noticed, and I'm sure they'd welcome another board to spam to death.

I've always thought the Alt Coin section could do with it's own Beginners and Help section as the main alt coin board is often used as some sort of mass dumping ground. Many times people will post their question in Beginners and Help or Bitcoin Technical Help and then they'll get reported and moved to the alt coin section but I think it would be helpful to have some sort of help sub rather than things getting lost in all the promo and get rich quick hype spam as a lot of the time that board isn't a good fit.

If we can have several other subs there then a Help board of some kind wouldn't go amiss. I was thinking that board should also have it's own currency section as well.

Before you create a thread like this should use the search button to see if there is an existing thread that has been discussing there. It's because there is a possibility that someone had raised a similar question before you joined this forum. For you may participate in the existing thread and contribute your valuable opinion. Here are a few threads found when I had used the search button.

1. Creating an Altcoin Technical Discussion Board
2. new board - Altcoin technical support. what do you think?
3. Can we have a separate board for Altcoin Technical Support & Discussion?
4. Altcoin - Development & Technical Discussion

Adding a new Altcoin Technical board just invite spammers to start spamming there with useless discussion.

I don't think it will make it any worse than it already is but at least there will be a place where people can get an answer to their question without it being buried by all the other shilling threads. Mprep commented in one of the threads above with some of his previous comments on the matter:

Don't exactly enjoy repeating myself but I'm going to re-quote (with minor modifications) what I've already quoted in a topic not far back since the same applies here:

Unless a subset of possible board topics is dominating the front page (+50% of topics on the front page belong to said subset), it's highly unlikely that it'll have a sub-section created for it. Not much point in creating a board that will be dead on arrival.

As with all sub-forum requests, I'm gonna ask a question - how many topics about Satoshi technical aspects of altcoins are currently on the first 3 or so pages of any board? Or on several boards combined? If there aren't enough topics (at least 20 on the frontpage and around 10 on later pages in my experience) to fill a board (meaning such topics do not dominate the discussion sphere of an existing board), what's the point of making a new section that'll be dead on arrival.

In the overwhelming majority of cases, boards are created not to encourage discussion of a subject but to stop a certain subject from dominating a board meant for a larger array of topics.

I don't know how many threads are in there but I know I move a fair few from the Bitcoin boards in there and personally I think those threads would be important enough to justify some sort of Help board. Mprep would probably be the person that needs convincing though.

What altcoins do you follow? Is their ANN not enough to post technical questions? If they did not open a topic here, then it's probably useless to ask because there are no better people to answer than their team/support. Other knowledgeable members can also answer your question but I don't know if they will be able to see it if you're a low rank because of the bumping rule.
