Months ago when I applied in a merit giveaway, my application post was deleted (by the merit giveaway manager) and my signature was still displayed.

Signature was not removed after I was demoted from Junior member to Newbie.

The rule is for Junior member. I applied when I have 29 posts and 1 or some merit (I don't remember). With the application post, I have enough 30  posts for Junior member. I ranked up later, add a signature but I thought manager deleted that post and I was demoted back to newbie.

Today I read that in the forum there are glitches so is it a glitch?

Limited in number. Limitless in potential.

Do you have a screenshots or thread archive of you wearing signature on your newbie rank? Maybe its a bug, there are related reports of newbie having signature before but they are different scenario.

No, I did not make a screenshot. Some members who have 30 posts, 1 merit can test it by wearing a signature and delete one post to see how the glitch is.

No it's not a glitch, it's just how smf works.

I'm guessing the database checks your permission when you set the signature and not every time the page loads or after a specific time period and this is for efficiency and a bunch of other reasons.

I have always follow your comments and learning a lot to it.

Probably just like this guy had said that the page loads after a specific time of period.

As I remember when I was new I always wanted to updare every posts I made as activity but it only happens im every 30 mins. I guess before I can check my posts updated as activity count. This is what I observe but I do not know why it happens like that even in the time I awarded merit to someone the number will not change immediately after the merit awarded ita may take 5mins. I guess I do not know.

I think activity is meant to update 2*post count (seconds). It might take longer for both to actually update on the site due to cache issues on the server or on your browser (and it's public Information in both cases so there's no issues with it being stored that way) but you might be able to get rid of your own cache by hitting refresh (in the browser or ctrl+r on desktop.

I’ve drafted a few such cases from my list of merited profiles, that have an Activity under 30, some merits, and bear a signature of some sort:
Code:
user_id   Name                          rank   activity  merit     datecreated                        URL
2813389   FloridaKid                    Newbie   18        10        2020-05-30 13:50:22.000            https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2813389
2733194   Holisticdetector              Newbie   10        2         2019-12-16 14:58:20.000            https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2733194
2697229   niocexchange                  Newbie   29        7         2019-10-18 12:17:55.000            https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2697229
2630761   Patentico                     Newbie   27        2         2019-06-19 09:05:22.000            https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2630761
2576793   Nwagodno                      Newbie   21        1         2019-04-05 09:41:36.000            https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2576793
2576323   Waltermeks                    Newbie   29        1         2019-04-04 13:26:06.000            https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2576323
If seems to happen under some circumstances that make the signature remain, regardless being presumably demoted back to Newbie. I recall it happened with some accounts prior to the 1 merit rule for Jr. Members, but not sure why it happens to latter accounts. The above accounts were created in 2019/2020.

The chances of you getting demoted with 30 post as a newly promoted Jr. Member is high as you are barely hitting the minimum for the rank so if 1 of your 30 post got deleted there is no surprise that you will be demoted back to your previous rank. This wasn't really a bug this is how the rank system works, also I doubt that your signature will still show up in the forum after you got demoted during that time as I know there is a character limit for both the newbie and the jr. member ranks.

Newbie can not wear signature. It is what happened after 1 post was deleted, I was demoted and my signature still shown up. I did not know about glitch but lately I read one topic said about glitch. I thought I got a glitch too.
