I don't think altcoins are low risk, i would say they are unpredictable. What is really fundamentally reliable is that is BTC and ETH

I vouch for your opinion as altcoins in fact are more riskier than bitcoin with ETH being an exception as it takes ages for altcoin to recover from a massive dump wherein bitcoin does bounce back on top, most of the panic sellers ends up losing capital when altcoin slumps which is not the case with bitcoin. I would prefer bitcoin over altcoins

Exactly, even the pump of altcoins happen only if there is a change in BTC price which means they are still dependent on BTC, Alts on the other hand are usually a lot more volatile and risky they are not as secure as BTC.

If anyone plan to invest in Alts, please do your own research and be aware because it is not a safe haven like BTC.

Its exactly what was happening in the market now. Bitcoin price movement has a big impact on the price movement of altcoins too. For me altcoin and bitcoin were both risky but the mere fact that taking risk in bitcoin was more worth it than altcoin because of its attractable and amazing market value. Well aside from it, bitcoin were probably the dominant crypto in the digital market which you would never doubt has a good project that projected on this crypto coin.

invest in altcoins is always a risk and I will not surprise if in long time (few years) close to 95% of altcoins will be just worthless.
I don't think there is the possibility for achieve more than bitcoin itself.
No one want store the last hype, but just a recognized system for storing value /medium of payment. Bitcoin can offer all of these solutions.

it is one of the features of bitcoin. even though it is pseudonymous and it is not known exactly who built bitcoin, bitcoin still exists and dominates crypto today. because time has shown. Strong altcoins like ethereum also need time to gain strong market power. so the key is in a quality product and enough time to prove that strength, a strong market will be formed.

 Looking at Coinmarketcap, it is understood that the trading volume is Bitcoin 60% to 70% and the rest is Altcoin volume.

Bitcoin has a high reputation compared to Altcoins.  The "Bitcoin" brand is very well known and millions of people have recognized it so Bitcoin is a much better investment than Altcoins..  The price of Altcoins is inseparable from the role of the Bitcoin price, if Bitcoin is bullish then other Altcoins will definitely follow it.  but for now, you are given the freedom to invest in both (Bitcoin or Altcoins) because many Altcoins are also able to provide greater profits than Bitcoin (if you are lucky)..

If you are having trouble deciding on where to invest why not try to invest in both Bitcoin and alt-coin don't just focus on single investment,
Try to have spread out your investment so it wouldn't hurt so much if one or two of them drops down for sure some of them would rise up to recover some of your lost or maybe even give profit to you.
But if you would invest in both BTC and alt-coin then go with the veterans don't invest in new alt-coins if you want to hold it.

2017 -  the entire crypto market is in the bullish together.
2018 - the same scenario but they all are dumping together
2019 - they are also started to recover together as well

But this year 2020, it looks different, they run in the opposite direction. Bitcoin dumps but altcoins pump and vice versa. This is to say that the market is really unpredictable, it could be one day we are reaching to $15k for BTC or it drops back to $10k again. The same thing that might happen to some altcoins, they'll go down today but not sure about tomorrow, that seems surprising everyday.

Bitcoin maximalists believe that altcoins are an experimental laboratory for researching cryptocurrency technologies.  These technologies will be used to improve the bitcoin code. 

Bitcoin is a very conservative cryptocurrency.  It should be the best (in terms of technology). 

Large capitalization of altcoins ... Large number of transactions ... Large number of users.  In fact, this is research and development work.  The goal is to improve technology (cryptographic and financial).

it is like you are looking at daily charts, some altcoins are still above BTC, looking at YTD yield, and yeah, Bitcoin had better October than most altcoins, but that is just one month, you should look at broader picture, and at broader picture most coins from top 10 outperformed BTC, with ETH included, in YTD yield
so, anyone could have their one position on this one, and momentum is currently with BTC, but altcoins are not down, except some that are hyped with DeFi, some of these would hardly ever recover

Most of the time bitcoin and altcoins price flows together. But recently bitcoin price showing good movement while altcoins staying at same position even going down. As a crypto user bitcoin is my first choice always. Altcoins price pump and dump massively at the same time, not bitcoin. And those are risky. Bitcoin is a safe platform for investor. Bitcoin pumped the there is massive dump shown in the Altcoins. whether the Bitcoin is now stable and mostly Altcoin are recovering with slow rate but atleast they recover. Bitcoin's domination is still very strong right now, but I believe its only for a while.
Fees are getting higher, transactions are getting slower, usability isn't getting wider.
Altcoins on the other hand are getting constantly updated

Regarding which is better to invest with now that the market is having a very good time on either bitcoin or altcoins I would definitely chooses bitcoin as being shown by its dominance in the market and how it really boost up other cryptos as well which it the very best in terms of investment.
