The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

Fear to the unknown, I withdrew all my funds from Mt. Gox...

How did you do that? I'm practically blocked, trying for weeks to find a way to get my money. I made a Paxum account just to try a different way, but they're just eating the withdrawals all the time!

I used dwolla to widthdraw USD (and also transferred remaining BTC to my own wallet).

Hello,

The most pleasant surprise you could give your users is not running out of funds in your Paxum account every couple of weeks.  Bells and whistles shouldn't be a priority until you've addressed far more basic issues like reliability of processing deposits and withdrawals.  At best your inability to resolve those issues makes your company look incompetent.  When you keep saying sorry and the same problem keeps happening with monotonous regularity, it's difficult for people to believe that you give a damn about your customers.  No amount of perky PR speak compensates people for the sheer amount of effort it often takes to complete the most basic of transactions with your company.

All I can say is that this is Bitcoin. I don't believe it until I see six confirmations.

I agree that the best thing to MtGox would be stable and fast withdrawal options like the mentioned paxum withdraw. Last time I tried, I waited for 2 weeks on a paxum withdrawal request. After that time, I decided to cancel the request, it took them almost another week to finally cancel the request.

In my humble opinion, that is absolutly not acceptable. Holding our money hostage for an undefinite amount of time, and not even providing interest for that time.

So, I agree that working paxum withdrawals is way more important than UI changes.

I left tradehill because the would no longer use dowalla and then would not send me a check after 10 days. if mygox did that too id not be pleased.

I'd like to apologize on behalf of TradeHill for the sudden end to Dwolla transfers. We tried to maintain it long enough to allow everyone time to pull their money out but Dwolla continued to remove funds from our account without explanation. To this day they still won't give me an answer, refund or send any documentation they claim to have but that is another issue.

Dwolla was our main funding source and when we made the transition to checks we had a lot of catching up to do. We sent out hundreds of checks in the following days and got almost everyone. Unfortunately it sounds like we missed your check. Since we've had very few transactions that have gone over a day without being sent or received and most within hours at most.

We'd love to have you come back and if you have any issues you'd like to discuss please email us at info@tradehill.com

Regards,
Jered

You may want to give TradeHill another chance.  While the first checks after Dwolla closed were slow all subsequent checks I have gotten from them have been very fast.  Usually about 4-5 days from time I withdraw to the time I have a check in my hand.

I think CryptoExchange also shows promise if they can increase liquidity and lower bank transfer fees.

What options do I have that don't involve getting on my knees and presenting myself?  Grin

It was as easy as you could of gotten it. My bank for some reason didn't charge me to send to this bank account and Mt Gox charged me $10 to withdraw.

Technocash closed the MtGox accounts due to people laundering money from stolen cards through them.  MtGox made an announcement about it at a time.

Like you, I don't know why people were being charged so much to withdraw.  Australian banks don't charge for deposits to other Australian bank accounts and Technocash has low withdrawal fees.

All I can say is that this is Bitcoin. I don't believe it until I see six confirmations.

+1 - The Paxum situation is ridiculous.

To be fair, I saw this scroll by on IRC today:

(Most useless messages removed)
Quote
[10:49] <@MagicalTux> right now we cannot wire to Paxum because of the investigations on money laundering
[10:51] <Ukto> paxum fail?
[10:51] <deego> MagicalTux: So, that's why my three withdrawal requests are pending for 3 weeks?  Couldn't that have been communicated to us 2 weeks ago so we could cancel our requests?
[10:51] <mindphlux> Why do other exchanges have not the same kind of liquidity problems on paxum?
[10:51] <deego> Anyhow, cancel requests don't work with mtgox any more either.
[10:52] <Ukto> hmm, part of the reason I don't like these 3rd party processors
[10:56] <@MagicalTux> mindphlux: other exchanges are not dealing with the same volumes we are
[10:56] <mindphlux> ok
[10:56] <@MagicalTux> once they get a bit bigger they'll hit the same compliance issues we do
[10:56] <mindphlux> So, honest question, why don't you remove paxum then if it's only providing problems
[10:56] <@MagicalTux> we should be able to send funds to paxum again once the investigation clears us

Or that they are one and the same.  Shocked

Any significantly advanced cryptocurrency is indistinguishable from Ponzi Tulips.
