Website does look very good and I like dark/light theme switch, but I would consider making more tabs, menu for navigation or some kind of grouping.
It is amazing that you managed to put all this data on one website, and maybe you should add some quotes from bitcointalk forum Smiley
From what websites are you getting all this information?

Thank you for the good feedback. I am working on better grouping, but for now you can navigate between Dashboard, Economics, Mining, News and Interactive Chart (The navbar is below the big Bitcoin logo at the top-left).

Data comes in from multiple sources: feeds from the top exchanges/data aggregators and by querying bitcoin timechain stats. Calculations, such as how many MtG: Black Lotuses or Lamborghinis 1 BTC can buy, are performed on the server-side as the data is being presented.

Spread the word! Built with love by a bitcoiner "for the bitcoiners". Thank you.

Loved it especially that Bitcoin performance vs. global fiat currencies world map. It even looks clearer when the dark theme is turned on  Wink

I have a suggestion concerning the wallet section. Since the website is mostly dedicated to bitcoin shouldn't wallets like Bitcoin core be emphasized under the desktop wallet section?
Exodus is not open source and it's multicurrency.

Same applies to mobile wallets. I don't think less popular wallets Samsung wallet and cash app really deserves to be there (isn't cash app even a custodial wallet?)

I also don't know the criteria you used to choose Top wallets.

Maybe you can do some research from different sources and select the best suitable wallets of each category while leaving links for those interested in having a look at more wallets of their choice.
Check Best Crypto Wallet Aggregators for ideas, Of course focus should be on bitcoin wallets, source code availability to the public, Non-custodial etc  Smiley

Thank you, this is exactly the feedback I need. You're correct... it's Bitcoin-focused, not alts. No pyrite here.

I chose those wallets by weighing their bitcoin support, utility, security, ease-of-use... but I don't want any non-btc wallets to be included... so if any need to come off besides Exodus, please let me know.

More info on the wallets selections:

1. I chose Coinkite products as Top Wallets for their pure bitcoin support, I love Coinkite
2. I included Ledger, Trezor and KeepKey as hardware wallets, but feedback would be appreciated
3. I chose Cash App and Samsung wallet for mobile apps, due to their audience size and easy on-ramp capability. In my mind, mobile wallets are meant for carrying small amounts, and either of these would work great for that... especially for noobs. Suggestions welcome here.
4. I wondered what to put for Desktop wallets... Exodus and Electrum are super-popular choices, but please offer alternatives.

I'm headed to read the thread you included, thank you... might inform my discussion points above.

Use the website for a few days and please keep sending feedback for improvements. I got it to this point but really need help to refine it. Thank you!

I would keep Electrum.

Bitcoin Core for full node, Electrum for lightweight SPV wallet. They make a good couple.

Thank you, verifying the feed now... the worldmap exchange data is powered by CryptoCompare API... where is the price in your example coming from?

Also, the map widget is not changing in real-time yet... so if the page is up for a while it may need to be refreshed.

Thank you!

Good idea. I will set that up, and add in a few other feeds, as well (for a more accurate average). That is how I am getting the Avg. Bitcoin Price at the top (also used in the preloader and the changing title tag in the browser tab)... I wanted to roll that system out to everything else, but thought CC was good enough for now... but this just accelerates that plan!

Thank you... this is exactly the feedback I came for. I'll fix it!  Smiley

Some filtering options for the news tab.....

Working on this... right now it calls all cryptocurrency news but I am limiting it to bitcoin-only soon.

Done Wink.....

THANK YOU! Please spread the word if you find it useful.

I hope you're planning to go with a modular design so we could easily create a customized homepage with the type of data we're interested in most.....

Drag and Drop support is already coded in... just not yet turned on. If you 'view source' you can see the blocks have a tag called 'draggable=false'. Once it's activated, users will be able to drag and drop any blocks to any spots on the page and the blocks will just fill in the space as needed. I've been testing it and it's gonna be sick! Truly build your own dashboard as needed.

Perhaps each user could get a unique link with their respective settings.....

No need (but good idea)! I am storing user preferences in LocalStorage, which doesn't use any scummy tracking mechanisms. You can see LocalStorage in action by setting either DarkMode or LightMode and then hitting refresh. Your preference is saved for you, but the webserver has no visibility on your choices... it's all stored on the user side. Users wll be able to drag and drop and set darkmode/lightmode as needed... and it will stay that way for them when they come back to the website next time.

A big fan of the unique messages every time we visit/refresh the page [nice touch].....

THANK YOU! The preloader features 30 different random bitcoin-relevant sayings... and I also used the same randomizer to load the Satoshi quotes on the home page... 100 Satoshi quotes in all, 1 prints per page load.

Thank you the great feedback! Keep 'em coming!  Grin

Why are you removing Electrum?
It is probably one of the most popular Bitcoin wallets, open source and working very good.

I would also suggest adding some information and stats about bitcoin address formats used and percentage of Segwit usage:
P2PKH starting with number 1, P2SH starting with number 3 and Bech32 starting with bc1.

Why are you removing Electrum? It is probably one of the most popular Bitcoin wallets, open source and working very good.

Thank you for posting. I did keep Electrum and only removed Exodus... now it is Bitcoin Core and Electrum.

I would also suggest adding some information and stats about bitcoin address formats used and percentage of Segwit usage:
P2PKH starting with number 1, P2SH starting with number 3 and Bech32 starting with bc1.

This is a great idea, making a note to add something for the next update around btc address formats, Segwit usage rates and differences between 1xxx, 3xxx and bc1x addresses. Thank you.

Add Liquid and Lightning stats, or nah? Does it make sense to create a data module for "Layer 2 Technologies" or is that too broad... or not relevant?

Sure, adding Layer2 like Liquid and Lightning Network stats would also be good to have.

I didn't check if you have information about Bitcoin ATMs and world map with locations, but it would be interesting for some people (map and list of all known BTC ATM machines)

Very cool project. Congrats.

I will just a make a suggestion about mobile wallets.

Same applies to mobile wallets. I don't think less popular wallets Samsung wallet and cash app really deserves to be there (isn't cash app even a custodial wallet?)

I don't think any of those mobile wallets are good options

You should include those ones:

https://samouraiwallet.com/
https://electrum.org/#download (Android version)
https://wallet.mycelium.com/

Samourai is a privacy focused bitcoin mobile wallet.
Electrum is a top community choice.
Mycelium is also a wallet recommended by community.

Samsung Wallet and Cash App are just unkown wallets. Nobody uses them. They are not reliable. You should not be recommending them imo.

Edit:
You could add Lightning Wallets: Electrum, Eclair(?)

Bookmarked! Merited your OP and keep it up!
Yes, I would like to see some Lightning network data there as well too. Also follow the suggestions other have given about mobile wallets: I personally wouldn't suggest neither Cash App nor Samsung wallet!

Great idea on the Bitcoin ATMs... making a note for the next update. I know a few map sites I can at least link to as a Resource until I can build a proper database.

I've already started building data tables for Liquid and Lightning stats and they are going to be included in a data module called "Layer 2 Technologies" in a near-future update.

Thanks for the feedback!

Thank you for this feedback. I appreciate it.

So, I am going to add all these wallets... thanks for the suggestions... but let's discuss Cash App and Samsung Wallet, please. From the noob point of view... aren't these better options for onboarding than any of the more technical wallets? I know a few folks who have gotten off zero with either of these... they will either have Samsung Wallet already preinstalled on their Galaxy phone, and/or they can easily stack sats on Cash App. (Twitter has been pushing Cash App's Bitcoin hard over the last year, I think more people are getting used to it. Dunno.)

Thoughts welcome! Thank you.

Thank you, I will!   Cheesy

I will be adding Layer 2 Technologies data module soon... Stay tuned! I'll be announcing all updates regularly on Twitter at @LiveBitcoinData https://twitter.com/LiveBitcoinData.

For the mobile wallets... I want only the best wallets... but would you kindly review my recent question about Samsung Wallet and Cash App (scroll up a little)? I'm happy to remove them if that's what we want, but my reasons were around on-boarding. Your thoughts would be valued here!

Every best wallet we can suggest would always be the one we like the most: so if you ask many people here you will receive several different opinions.
If you want to base your judgement on trust and how the wallet is developed I suggest you visit  https://walletscrutiny.com/ in order to find a very good explanation on why some wallets are better (and more trusted).
So, avoid suggesting closed source wallets in the first place, and go for the ones which are open source and older: so I would say Green Bitcoin Wallet and Mycelium.
If I was you I would put wallets in a completely new page, but I guess that's not the point of your page  Smiley

All good stuff. I like the open source bit the best. So, I'll make some good changes based on this feedback. You're right, wallets aren't the focus, but I do want to have a good list for that particular data module.

Thank you! Keep 'em coming!   Cheesy

Initially, I didn't want to respond to this but your succeeding sarcastic comment [that was deleted for not obeying the rules] caught my attention Wink

  • IIRC, all of those data modules were already there when you first launched in here. Am I missing something [what's new with those modules]?

Update:

Thank you, I was wondering why it was deleted.

Why that was deleted, I am not sure.

Thank you, I was wondering why it was deleted. I guess it was misunderstood... the deleted post was just me saying "Thanks" to the group for all the feedback. It has been very helpful. I hadn't logged into BitcoinTalk for a few days, but then I did... and wanted to thank the group again. Why that was deleted, I am not sure.

The new modules are in the screenshot:

1. What is a Sat Worth?
2. Bitcoin Values
3. Available Bitcoins

They were not in the site before I shared them here.

Truly sorry if I offended anyone, that was never my intent. Just saying thanks to this forum for their help!

Thank you! Makes sense to reduce spam. I didn't mean to double up... just super-appreciative of all the help so far, and wanted to say thanks. It's been very helpful and several features were included in the website based on the direct feedback received here. Thanks, everyone!  Smiley

Keep using LiveBTCdata.com and sending those feature requests/bug reports!
