I've looked all over the internet & I can't seem to get a clear answer.

A lot of people on Twitter like Samourai. However, I can't see the major reasons why. I find Wasabi really easy to use.

What are the main differences between the two?

Or is there something better I should look into?

For easy privacy, I use mixer I think this is the best solution for me.

Regarding a wallet - using Electrum with tor connection is safe I guess. But if we talk about Wasabi and Samourai then I have no idea how to compare since I have not used Samourai wallet yet. I like the coinjoin feature of Wasabi but here we have two limitations I guess.
1. It's very time-consuming the max you can do at once is around 0.1 BTC
2. I think for higher anonymity you are ending up paying very higher fees too.

Best practice without costing much is learning how to use coin control and with tor connection in Electrum you can stay anonymous with some creative moves when you are moving your coins.

By the way, I think if you move this topic to Wallet software section then I guess we will find some other quality poster who will have their own input in here too. This does not mean that you made this post in wrong section, I think this section is fine too but more quality posters about this niche will be available in the section I was recommending.

The noticeable difference is the minimum amount required for 'mixing' your transactions on those wallets. AFAIK Wasabi requires at least 0.1 BTC for initiating a Coinjoin where Samourai requires less than that. Other than that, you probably want to look at how you handle your addresses instead.

In general, both wallets have different ways of mixing coins, with the general consensus(at least on Twitter) being that Wasabi is overall better. And also, the Samourai team/devs are totally bollocks due to them personally attacking their critics. Wish the Samourai team really were more professional as Wasabi's nopara73 seems to be a really cool dude. nopara73[1] seems to be a lurker here and posts occasionally too!

Cooler name? hehe. Those you've seen on twitter are probably mobile users that's why they prefer Samourai. It looks like Wasabi has abandoned the idea of creating a mobile app.

I was checking wasabiwallet.io and saw them posting an alternative wallet called JoinMarket https://github.com/JoinMarket-Org/joinmarket-clientserver

They don't have the same architecture.

Wasabi is stronger in privacy terms since it has a larger anonymity set compared to Whirlpool. Whirlpool uses more blockspace for less anonymity and the back end server knows which i/o is yours unless you make use of the Dojo https://samouraiwallet.com/dojo while Wasabi doesn't know because it uses multiple Tor connections and blind signatures.

Just to let you know Whirlpool is based on Zerolink... which was created by Wasabi's dev...

I don't think there is such a thing as the best wallet. The operating principle of all open-source ones is the same, only their interface changes. All open-source offline wallets that give you Privatekey are reliable. For example, my preferred wallet is electrum since it is easy to use and reliable.

General vibe here is learning towards Wasabi.

-I can't code at all & I can easily connect my own node to Wasabi then send/receive transactions through my Cold Card.

-I love that coin control/UTXO management - warns you if you cross contaminate transactions.

-Bech32 address are standard

-CoinJoin is super easy to use, more people will be all over this soon no doubt. I don't really trust any centralised mixers at this point, I prefer decentralised & trustless.

Yeah 0.1BTC is quiet large but I guess if you need to do under that just send the funds to a new address then open a Lightning channel (Over TOR)

- Samourai is only for phone and has no desktop version.
- it is written in Java and JavaScript and security-wise i don't trust applications in this language
- in comparison the development is far less active compared to the other wallet
- i personally don't trust the developers either, they have raised some controversy against other open source projects in the past

- Wassabi has a desktop wallet
- it is written in C# which is far more trustable than the other
- the development is very active and the project is more popular

Wasabi makes it harder to spy on your balance and payments by rotating addresses, doesn't disclose information to peers on the network when receiving or sending a payment, it's compatible with Tor.
Samourai will alert you if you have sent to an address before, provides, by default, a transaction that increases the difficulty of linking inputs to outputs of a transaction, making clustering wallet addresses and associated metadata more difficult, makes transactions more complicated to analyze, it's Tor and VPN enabled.

Wasabi and Samourai wallets can be compared to Ethereum (ETH) and Ethereum Classic (ETC). Developers worked together at start but their vision became different and they decided to split their ways: one for Wasabi and one for Samourai. Samourai is similar to Ethereum Classic (ETC) that have less development activities than Wasabi and Ethereum.
