I just saw this on wccftech, and I'm confused to be honest

I believe that AMD GPUs will be better for mining, but if we do the math, 120Mhs of 3090 RTX, are doing 3.43 USD daily, according to Nicehash Calculator
To gain 1.5 times more, the hashrate of ETH should be 180Mhs  Shocked Huh
It's insane, and if this is true, Infinity Cache is something big for miners

I don't know what to think right now, this is not good news, because nobody will have opportunity to buy cards this year  Angry Cheesy

If this is talking about ETH then it looks like they just applied AMD's claimed "Infinity Cache" memory bandwidth boost of around ~2x over a 384 bit bus:

384 bit bus bandwidth for GDDR6 at 16 gbps = 384 * 16 / 8 = 768 GB/s
With AMD claimed bandwidth boost of ~2x = 768 * 2 = 1536 GB/s
Which gives a theoretical zero latency ETH hashrate = 1539 / 8192 * 1000 = 187.5 MH/s
3090 gives about 120+ MH/s

So 187.5 MH/s is about 56% more than the 3090's 120 MH/s

Looks like they just applied some math to get those numbers. Guess we'll know soon enough how the infinity cache actually affects ETH mining in reality vs. theoretically.

taking into account that ETH DAG is too big for the cache, I don't believe this rumoured performance (except if this for another algo than ETH). Beside I am not sure that the whole 128 MB space will be available for caching portion of the DAG...

Smart cache holds only data that is in use most of the time, it's a bridge, this is how it works,  cpu <--> cache <--> gpu, running a few percentage faster than it normally would be, it does not do miracles but it can do miracles if a type of data is used all the time, need to test and see.

The infinity cache won't really do much since you can make the assumption that even if you could cache 128MB (Cache)/4096MB (DAG) you're going to have a pretty low hit rate of about 1/32 with a 4GB DAG. This is assuming you could write some of the DAG compute to the cache. I could see this being very beneficial for some of the other algos where a large DAG is not involved, perhaps a new algos will evolve from it.

Still waiting for the price and ethash hasrate information. There are just rumours. We need the real values.

I have already 108 pcs RX570 4GB, 108 pcs RX470 4GB, 192 pcs P106-100 6GB and 108 pcs RX5700 XT. I'm replacing my old GPU miners with the newest models and 108 pcs RX 5700 XT GPUs was my first move. I'm selling my old stuff and buying new gear. I sold my old NVIDIA GTX1050 GPUs and I bought 108 pcs RX 5700 XT GPUs. These new gear is awesome. I have a plan about buying 108 pcs 6800 XT or 6900 X depends on the details.

I cannot live, I cannot die, trapped in myself.
Hold my breath as I wish for death. Oh please god, help me !

does anyway here tried this gpu, what is the hash result? I wish someone here share the mod for this card.I am still hoping that the gpu mining will soon goin to become profitable, because as a small miner we never get a good profit much of the minted coin will goes to the electricity consumption billing.

damn everything is expensive now, rtx 3070 overpriced to 650$ in my country similiar to console launching right now

pretty sure new amd gpu will overpriced when they come and gpu mining with bull run happen right now, became hard choice to wait or buy instead

surely next 3 month if profit mining continue to climb, doesnt have any advantage of the price new gpus, gamer & miner pick up pretty fast

People having more money than sense is the problem, this pandemic, made govs from around the world to distribute money in excess to people, reason cryptocoins are rising fast, and local fiat currencies are crashing fast, do not be surprised if bitcoin hits 50k or eth hits 6k in few months, huge value correction is being set around the world. Going back in the 80's, the US gov used to say millions, today they say trillions hehe. You people need to boycott it in order for the product to be sold lower than what it is, Do not buy it if price is higher than msrp.

No surprise here. I guess amd troll fans saying 1.5 performance x 3090 is just a fairytale after all, those same trolls are known to hype every amd release.

This is good, I expect something around 75Mhs consuming 140 to 160w.
Better than previous generations, but not a killing that make older cards obsoletes

But at this point I think people will buy every single card like RTXs or new AMDs, for mining and gaming, no matter the costs, and this is insane
I hope I can grab a 6800 or 3080 but at a good price, I refuse to pay what costs right now

Let's see if AMD can offer more cards to public

I expect them to hash around 63-65 MHs at stock memory frequencies.

more than likely a proportionately higher MH than the 5700/xt based on price point, not necessarily linearly, but close (with optimization). The question isnt so much will it be good at mining, but how good. even with a linear increase in MH/$, if there is even  a 10-15% increase in efficiency, it will be out of stock for many months

Yeah optimized hashrate would be around that.  maybe a little higher depending on how far the gddr6 could be overclocked
