Hi, I appreciate that this may be a bit of a silly question but is there any sort of loose consensus on what people are predicting bitcoins to be worth as the years go by? If not would people care to share their thoughts on what they believe will happen to the price in 2021, 22, 23, 25, 30?

I'm asking because I've seen a lot of predictions suggesting that it might hit $100,000 some time this decade and was hoping to try to gauge how realistic people think these sort of predictions might be?

Thanks

I am not aware of any loose consensus on what the price of Bitcoin would be. So many prices are usually thrown around and bloggers in a bid to gain traffic spin articles off such predictions so they could likely become popular.
Some "analysts" predict we would hit ~ $300k within the next 4 years using the stock to flow model, some others hold the notion that Bitcoin would surpass gold in market capitalization within the next decade, this should be a growth of about 40×.
There are of course still those who take the negative position that Bitcoin would go down in price from here.
All these are personal predictions and should not be taken as investment advise. Do your own research on any analysis.

If not would people care to share their thoughts on what they believe will happen to the price in 2021, 22, 23, 25, 30?
This would be almost impossible to predict this with any bit of certainty and we would likely just be throwing numbers around.
But if I must look into by crystal ball, I personally expect we cross the previous ATH ($20,000) within the next 6 months and possibly $50,000-$100,000 in 2 - 6 years.

Why thank you sir! I realise that I'm pretty much asking you to effectively pluck numbers out of the air and I appreciate your efforts. I've only recently started looking into Crypto currencies and am trying to get a feel for the probabilities of the potential risks and rewards. In my completely novice opinion it seems like a very wise investment from what I can make out so far with the potential to multiply your money coming across as fairly realistic and the potential for huge losses seeming somewhat unlikely. I was saving up for a mortgage but may scrap that idea for now and take a gamble on Bitcoin based on what I've seen so far. Just looking into the stock to flow model now, that would be nice!

Reaching 100,000$ is not gonna be easy if we are observing the movement of the market these days. The ATH is just around 20,000$ and it is just 20% of the 100k$, getting an x5 of the ATH for sure is a lot of work.

People usually go for a high price prediction but the market is just so unpredictable and at any time something could also occur affecting the market price of bitcoin.

I think the best thing to do is just continue to invest in bitcoin as we could always expect the market price to pump in the future or buy and sell your bitcoin where you could earn a profit it doesn't really matter what are the predictions since most of it is high market price prediction.

There are quite a lot of things you're going to see on the internet about Bitcoin, many of which aren't true and reliable, plus shouldn't be a reason to join/not join the network. I don't know if the predictions we see are plausible, but if you're going to invest in this network, I want to update you with this rule of thumb: "invest only what you can afford to lose", what that means is do not go on to invest in Bitcoin with all your funds cause people have predicted it getting to over $100,000.

Bitcoin is a speculative market, and this predictions are meant to be seen, many users who have taken this sort of predictions to heart and invested of it are the ones always shaken by FUD when there's a plunge, no matter how little. Take your time to understand btc price movements/history and more about the network, that way you'll be able to make decisions yourself without having to look to the internet.

You do get the feel that a lot of the predictions do tend to lean towards really big numbers. I think I'm going to aim towards that strategy of investing as much as I can as quickly as possible while learning as much as I can and hoping that the speculative predictions end up coming somewhere somewhat close to fruition.

$100,000 is very possible for Bitcoin in the coming years. But we don't when it will, that's why it is called predictions.
Different people got their own opinion or prediction on Bitcoin these coming years, some may too much, or some may not. But most of them may be possible because some of them are supported with analysis, just like technical which is showing on the chart and basing it on previous years of Bitcoin, it is clearly showing it will go on that price.
Just be careful about what other people predict, especially if you are buying Bitcoin because you are expecting the price they are telling, you should also confirm it by yourself.

Thank you for the sensible advice. I understand that there's some big risks, if I'm honest with myself I realise that at the moment I'm planning on taking a bigger gamble here than most would be comfortable with but I feel that it will be a calculated gamble. It may seem irrelevant but I play a lot of poker so I'm used to getting hurt but winning in the long run and only really gamble if I feel confident enough that the odds are in my favour.  If I somehow lose it all, it will be a big setback in my life and it will probably hurt but I have a decent enough career and will be able to rebuild. I know that I need to do a lot more research over the coming months and be prepared to change my strategy if what I learn dictates me to do so. I'm really not expecting it to get to $100,000 anytime soon but if it does get to $30,000 or $40,000 in the next 2 or 3 years I will be happy. I feel that this endeavour will also encourage me to work harder and save harder which will naturally improve my life prospects as long as it doesn't somehow all come crumbling down into a worst case scenario. I do appreciate your advice and will try to find ways to make sure that I don't take too many unnecessary risks. Thanks again!

Sounds like I've got a lot to learn but it's good to know that there's a lot of analysis gone into these predictions and they're not just "pie in the sky" numbers. I was kind of expecting to find that as I was finding out more the more cons I would find to the investment but so far it all seems surprisingly positive.

In my humble opinion there are several factors that we need to consider, for example the demand and adoption for cryptocurrencies.
I hope that in the future cryptocurrencies will be widespread and used widely in the economy, if that does happen there are great possibilities for Bitcoin to be worth $ 50,000 and perhaps $ 100,000. What will price this value will be the great demand for Bitcoin

There is a chart called Stock to Flow, which shows approximately what the value of Bitcoin is in the future. Of course, this is not something real, just a prediction

if we look at the bitcoin chart only we can see the trend is going up from less than a dollar the price now is 13 thousand USD, with PayPal embracing bitcoin, we may be looking for 20 thousand USD, but still, there are lots of blockages that is needed to overcome, but these are moves that we are expecting because others don't totally accept bitcoin because of their personal agenda's, if they change their outlook in bitcoin we may see another all-time high, sooner

The price of Bitcoin is not really dependent on the opinion of nocoiners or people that spread FUD. The network has already built a lot of solid support which can push the price above the ATH.

Over the past year; more institutional money has flowed into Bitcoin, public companies have adopted a Bitcoin standard, cashapp and PayPal have integrated Bitcoin into their payment system amid more positive growth, all these has the potential to kickstart a bullrun, but the market price had not yet fully caught up with the general bullish sentiment.
New investors do not begin a pump, they usually FOMO in when the price is already on the way up, just as it is now; Bitcoin grew about 30% last month.

Thanks

See Bergkampsballs...There is no one who can predict BTC price in coming years. Bitcoin has become very popular among the people in the last few years, which mean new users are coming in the game. I believe it will definitely touch new highs in future. But 100K way long journey. Many fake gurus used to predict BTC hitting 100k in 2018. and now its end of 2020, and still BTC is facing major resistance at $14k, and I don't think its going to cross this level right now. As a short term prediction, I see BTC making new record high(crossing 20K) by mid of 2021.

The problem on this kind of Prediction shit was you can't get a quality data because most of the comment here is biased. Why we need to predict the price if no one can give the right prediction in reality. Anyone can predict any insane figure but it can't affect the future price, If you want to get the pulse of the bitcoin user about the future price, Just create a poll and not a discussion thread for prediction so that you can easily collect data rather than check the post individually.

Bitcoin it's bitcoin. Not sure that we'll see any significant growth in the next few months. Moreover,  it can fall. I'd prefer to keep bitcoin on structured deposit to avoid possible loses.

First of all, I think this topic should be in speculation board.
Unfortunately, I don't have crystal ball and I can't see future. I like how you said that you're asking to pluck numbers out off the air. Offcourse, I can say some random number, which will be wrong anyway, but what's the point of it Smiley? People predictions are based on chart analysis, trends in the markets or just some factors known only by them, but there is no consensus between them. If you'll see some predictions, you'll see that amplitude is big and sometimes is huge between them.
$100k? I'm not saying that's not possible, maybe one day... But I tend to be more realistic.

Bitcoin it's bitcoin. Not sure that we'll see any significant growth in the next few months. Moreover,  it can fall. I'd prefer to keep bitcoin on structured deposit to avoid possible loses.

Not sure about the future but we are on good days right now but we can't still be confident and be lame to check the price on hourly basis since we might possibly left behind if we are holding or miss to buy cheap when the market is on bargain and let see on what will be the outcome so should be prepared to the result to avoid the losses and possibly gain on the movement of the market.
