It's both. Satoshi successfully released and launched the Bitcoin protocol, and it is a peer-to-peer electronic cash, it's just not a widely used one, but it doesn't make it any less decentralized or electronic. Of course there will be always work to do, just like with any other complex software, so in some sense Bitcoin will never be finished, but that's a good thing, because it means that Bitcoin is progressing and adapting.

Some people would say that Bitcoin can only succeed if it's adopted by a lot of people, but I don't agree with that, as long as there's at least some users, then Bitcoin is not useless.

Exactly as long as bitcoin keeps being used by someone around the world then it has an use even if it is a limited one, however it is obvious we are expecting that bitcoin does in fact becomes used all over the world by a great number of people because as we know that not only means that we have a freedom when it comes to our money that we did not had since people used physical gold on their transactions, but this will mean also that the price of bitcoin will have to skyrocket because as we know the amount of bitcoin we have at our disposal is limited and that is never going to change.

It will take more time before it happen, the good thing is, people are already aware about "cryptocurrencies" it is already in different platforms, top searches and many people are using it. Soon it will be recognize as one of the currency of some countries. It is accepted in some establishments anyway, so I think sooner or later it will be.

We are already heading there and a decades time is just still young and it would still takes time before everything can be considered to be accepted globally but recently we have seen that
main or big companies are already reconsidering Bitcoin's usage and had been integrated as one of payment options which is great.We do know on whats the true motive on why its
being created in the first place and for sure that Satoshi doesnt even expect that his creation did really make this far in case he had been able to see it as of now.
No one knows if he's still alive and just observing or  had been long time gone but what matter most is that his creation did really progress out.

After all Bitcoin is open source code, so anyone can make progress.

If Satoshi has been said that probably he'll have a reason but I won't think that He will good to say that we are already reaching the final stage. That being hopeless and people will show less interest in this if people know about that.

If is fair to say that the world has come very far in terms of adopting decentalised currency in the last 12 years but we haven't yet reached the point that Satoshi would have dreamed of. We are still slowly seeing adoption by larger institution and other common people and more and more new companies trying to adopt the decentalised way.

Adoption is all with time, it's not going to happen overnight. It might not be fully adopted by everyone, because not everyone is interested in what you are interested in, and you can't force them, but as time goes on there will be more people of same interest that will come to start making use of it. And now that PayPal has joined the league of institutions and companies that are backing Bitcoin, we are going to see a surge in the adoption rate since people will now be creating a trading platform for their over 350 million users. Before we were never expecting this news, but it just happened. That's how it is.

I could be already occurred, depending on how we use bitcoin and treat it in our lives. Some are actually valuing bitcoin for peer to peer transactions completely without the interaction of any third parties but some are just taking bitcoin for profit because of its volatile high market price.

Though we can say that while it was already providing us the service that it promises, it can still be in progress as development could always happen as part of maintenance, and perhaps, there still a lot of things to improve in the bitcoin network's protocol to make sure that we are transacting more efficiently.

No the bitcoin has not fully served its purpose .true its a pear to pear coin with no third party but it is not acknowledged by the world so we can not use it fully on daily basis and bitcoin must became an official coin because its price is determined by the market and goverments can not interfere.

This is the final form of Bitcoin and I don't think that we will have any changes further into the bitcoin. We are in the process of adoption right now and still a lot way to go in terms of it.

I do not know why you think that since the code of bitcoin is always been improved, the moment this stops we can say bitcoin is on his way to die which is why the core devs spend a great deal of time thinking about how they can improve bitcoin, it is a long process and a very delicate one which is why we see this as being too slow but it has be this way, bitcoin has a market cap at the moment of 280 billion dollars, the developers cannot be reckless when it comes to the updates or they could lose the confidence of people and that is simply not acceptable as all forms of money depend to a certain extent on the trust of the people.

nice trivia i didnt know that bitcoin celebrated its anniversary recently. i know the year where btc start but not its month . its work is done because we already have a btc and we are already been using it for a long time now and the founder already dissapear because if not , all of that wont be possible . whats working in progress is the acceptance . many people already know btc and can be called as btc users but there are still few out there that are not yet unto this movement . the improvement are acceptance , i wouldnt enumerate all because acceptance already covers them . sato or just any creator do have a dream that thier creation will be known to the world .

Still work in progress until is fully legalized in all the countries of the world. Many countries are still watching the currency to see if it will close 13 or 20 year before they can believe that is not a scam currency but real decentralized currency which is real for the people of the country to start using it for investment. Many are still afraid about the transaction of bitcoin, the way the transaction is faster than fiat money transaction.

The work is in progress because bitcoin has not yet become globally, and it needs more time to introduce bitcoin to the public. The development and improvement of bitcoin grow from that time, and we are now seeing bitcoin slowly accepted in many countries. Bitcoin can become the investment and the payment method, but it will need more time for bitcoin to be used as the payment method.

And if we talk about when we really don't know and don't have the right time to see when will bitcoin be fully accepted because that will depend on each government to react about bitcoin. They control the regulations, and they need to learn more details about bitcoin before fully accepting bitcoin.

The work hasn't been done and will never be. Right now, bitcoin is in its very early stage. There are a lot of space to improve over here and people all together are still contributing. As for the "never will be" part, it is true. It will keep on improving as long as the environment, technologic, people, economics and so on keeps on changing. Do you think "technology" has a final form/stage?

Bitcoin? Maybe not. Some centralized cryptocurrency, maybe.
