John McAfee is in Spanish prison awaiting his extradition trial after he was arrested in Spain.
McAfee has been tweeting regularly from prison, he tweeted: “You want to know what prison is like. It’s like a Motel 6 run by Hitler’s SS,” "I am content in here. I have friends. The food is good. Lol McAfee trying to spin facts again:

I am charged with tax fraud – which is lying on your tax return. I have filed no returns for many years and have made no secret of it. If I have said nothing how could I have lied. My real crime is speaking publicly about the insanity rampant within our system of government.

Tax fraud includes:

    False exemptions or deductions
    Kickbacks
    A false or altered document
    Failure to pay tax
    Unreported income
    Organized crime
    Failure to withhold
Failure to follow the tax laws

Regardless of where you stand with taxation, he absolutely committed tax fraud by definition. Best of luck to him though, I suppose -- I'd also rather be jailed in Spain than the US.

I'm not an American, does this actually happen in America? “If extradited, I face 35 years in prison for multiple counts of refusing to file tax returns. Had I chosen armed robbery, I would’ve received 5 years maximum. You tell me if it’s just.” and he is pretty confident that this will not happen.

I'm not a fan of McAfee but what he said is quite interesting for me this time.

John McAfee is in prison and yet he still has access to the internet? What kind of prison is that? Grin
Nobody cares anymore about this guy, except for entertainment.I can't take him and his opinions seriously.
His "ghost cryptocurrency project" is most likely a potential exit scam. All the allegations against him are true.
It doesn't matter if it's doing to be a Spanish or a US prison,he deserves to stay in jail for his crimes.

the more often he says about crypto why I don't even need to heed what is said. because everything is said just because he is famous and the media needs news but the news that is made is always off the mark. that's the name of news ...

Yeah you're right we shouldn't talk about his current situation in the prison but the media keep publishing news about him even if he blabbering about foolish things. Why we even talk about his feeling inside of the prison while ignoring other prisoners' complaints. Anyway, he is currently inside of the prison because he breaks some laws and that's all about it. He will serve some years inside of that gloomy cells we don't need to know whether he is doing fine or not.

You are definitely right. Whether its on US or any other countries. He should paid all inside of jail. I just do hope the trial would be fair and no under the table negotiations cause Im sure he can bribe anyone with lots of his corrupted money.

It could be because he is McAfee and there's sort of special treatment given to him. He has money and maybe there's an involved under the table for his special treatment because he's allowed to use it while being in prison.

I'm not sure if the Spanish government or jail agency allows their prisoners to use gadgets while inside their prison's jurisdiction. Is that a sign that he's saying at the end of that sentence about ala Epstein?

He probably just exaggerated things, just like what he did on 2017 tweeting ICO scam projects and him racking $100k per tweet. Anyhow, good riddance to John, it's time to face the music once he gets extradited in the US. He is lucky that he has access to mobile phone while he is in prison and can still do his regular ridiculous tweet, which I think won't help him that much in his tax evasion case.

Just stupid people trust with John McAfee and beginner know with bitcoin and altcoin during 2019 until 2020, if you have active with many ICO project what said by John McAfee is bullshit, check how many ICO his recommendation become scam and bullshit coin right now. I swear never allow and join with his recommendation coin because he is not an expert of coin analyze, I don't care if some one not agree with my opinion because I have running with his twitter at least 2017 where many scam ICO project promoted by John McAfee. Better never hear anymore with his project right now who ever the developer always make unlucky for you after investing with his recommendation ICO or coin listing.

I think he is in a kind of "soft" prison. I know that prisons and jails are divided into categories. For example people like bookkeepers will never be kept is same block with murder-assault-rapist-nazi-psycopath guy.

I've read an article about the prison (I dont remember the exact country, some northern Europe I guess), where a person is a prisoner, but can go to work to a near by office. Like he is from 9 to 6 at work, but after does not go home, but goes to his cell.

There is a "Open prison" also. In Russia people for drunk driving spend half a year there.

Moreover, cellphones can be bought in prisons. Based on the google search, they cost from 200 to 1500 US dollars Smiley

I am a little bit shock that John McAfee is contented in prison because he has friends there and the food is good. I wonder if he is treated differently  from regular prisoners because he is an influential person.

But because of what happen to him, I am pretty sure that his influence will surely to go down and there will be less people especially the investors that will listen to his advice or opinion even if he is pumping the crypto inside the prison. I will just hope that he learned from his mistakes.

I don't think there is a special treatment in that Prison,McAfee is just making some good thoughts to Let people think that he is contented whatever happens, while the truth is He is very Eager to comes out having that Old Age to be in prison.
But because of what happen to him, I am pretty sure that his influence will surely to go down and there will be less people especially the investors that will listen to his advice or opinion even if he is pumping the crypto inside the prison. I will just hope that he learned from his mistakes.
This is why he is not complaining regarding matter to maintain His positivities so His supporters will remain calm and stays with Him.
What a Great strategy maintaining His sense while in Prison.

McAfee can't affect the price of crypto, much less from prison. Is this another of John's advertising campaigns?

Whatever this scammer is pump from prison, this is not Bitcoin for sure, maybe some shitcoin, because that has been the case all these years. Personally, I don't care in which hole he will spend the rest of his life, but I would like it to be one in which he will not be allowed to use the internet. People who still see something positive in him have more than obviously very strange needs to follow characters like this.

Rabi3, if possible refrain from advertising a website that still promotes Bitcoin Tr(c)ash as real Bitcoin.

It doesn't matter if he is in Spain or in the US but it should not be that way having access to the internet must not be allowed at all cost regardless of your status in the society he should be treated the same as the other prisoners.

Whatever he does about his ghost cryptocurrency project I don't think that someone will trust him and invest in his ghost it is absurd if you will invest in something that the person behind it is known and worse has been imprisoned because of evading tax, fraud, and murder case whether allegations or accusations still remain that the credit will not be reliable anymore.

John McAfee has shared many details about his life in Spanish prison and chances of extradition to the U.S. He additionally claims to have regained control of his ghost cryptocurrency project.
He will now have all the time in the world to do any project behind bars  Cheesy.

All is well. Know that if I hang myself, a la Epstein, it will be no fault of mine … Prison is an adventure to say the least."
If he knew that he will be getting friends and good food he wont be running all his life in fear of getting arrested and now with all the pressure he was feeling over the years made him feel these things  Cheesy.

John "Dick Eating" McAfee knew exactly what he was doing and his actions are biting him back .

The tax fraud should be easy to fix with the right amount of money, and that's something that he has. But the murder is the main problem and the main reason why he will stay in jail for a long time. And he is better in the Spanish jail, the extradition to USA would be a big mistake if he tries it. And is weird that he have access to social networks like Twitter, that shouldn't be possible, if he has access to the internet then he still had his freedom even if he is in jail.

I will follow this case is really important for all the crypto users to understand what could be the consequences to avoid paying taxes while using cryptos.

It doesn't matter if he is in Spain or in the US but it should not be that way having access to the internet must not be allowed at all cost regardless of your status in the society he should be treated the same as the other prisoners.

Well, fairness does not exist within and without the prisons. That's the reality, so it doesn't surprise me when wealthy and influential people inside jails could still savor the life of luxury.

As to the access to internet, I don't think prisoners are to be deprived of it at all costs. Even in my locality, prisoners could still access to the internet albeit in a very limited way.

I think I wouldn't trust the man over his crypto project even if he is not behind bars or even if he is not facing any criminal or civil case. McAfee's questionable sanity alone is more than enough for me to avoid any crypto project he endorses.

On a side note, though, McAfee's pronouncements as regards the government, particularly the IRS or SEC, have some grains of truth in them.

It is fairly rare for tax fraud to result in criminal charges at all. In 2016 there were 584 people in the US that received criminal tax fraud charges. For people who are sent to jail at all (about 64% of those charged) the average duration is 15 months.

584 people out of hundreds of millions of taxpayers is a pretty small number, and a fair number of these were charged with tax fraud along with other crimes (e.g. embezzling a bunch of money from the government and not paying taxes on it).

Mcafee's colourful history and promotion of ultra-scammy ICOs probably don't do him any favours here.

But generally the IRS's goal is to generate revenue.  Usually when they find a problem with someone's taxes, even if it looks pretty-freeking-intentional they just demand payment for the missing money, penalties, and interest.

I forgot to file a return in ~2006 because I was hospitalized during the whole time leading up to the tax due date and a bit after and I completely forgot about it.   Two years later I got a giant envelope from the IRS where they calculated my taxes for me and demanded I pay -- and attached a million dollar tax bill!  The ludicrous tax bill was because I had a lot of securities trades which had been reported by my broker but the IRS didn't know the cost basis and treated it as zero.  I quickly figured out the correct taxes and sent the IRS a payment for them + penalties + interest (none of which were all that substantial)... and that was it, and the matter was resolved. I don't think they ever even asked me why I hadn't paid or filed.

My failure to file was an innocent and understandable mistake, but they didn't know that or even try to determine it-- their primary objective was just getting the taxes paid.
