This made hackernews, the whole site just smells like a big scam, with typos and contact going to a gmail address and a crazy 15% fee

Second, I'm sorry you feel this is a scam, but I can assure you its 100% real!
The typos should be fixed by now! If you spot any please report them.
The email has been updated. Many of these small errors (which I'm sorry to say add up)
were due to the quick launch and premature release. Everything should be in order now!
Thirdly lets talk about the fee! I got an email regarding this so I'll do my best to relay that here:
I understand that for some people 15% may seem like an outrageous fee! However let me break it down from a different perspective. Visas have a built in fee of around 2.2-2.8%. On top of that there is the initial shipping cost and site overhead. Add in the volatility of bitcoin + the potential for things to go bad real fast real quick, and you're looking at 10% to break even! If you check current online currency exchangers that exchange BTC for things such as paypal a 15% is quite common (if not higher)! Basically the company will provide a similar service, only better.
