Agree, and it's not like it's a mandatory thing to do anyway. Let's just wait for ETH 2.0 to be fully functional before we do anything with it. I just hope that they don't really let our expectation down especially that they created this hype in the community.

Though I bet this is also a driving factor why Bitcoin is surging right now.

After the successful launch of the critical issue of the ETH2.0 and Spadina testnet which later finalized to be healthy and good to go there seems to be some slowdown in the ETH2.0 project but I am happy to tell you that another phase of the ETH2.0 (deposit contract) was successfully released yesterday.

Not really because they make a statement about this mid this year as far as I remember and this update is long overdue, so I think the current pump is just a coincidence. Anyway, bull market or not ETH will still pump because this update is not just a simple update, this can be big and many will benefit on this one. If you see the moon is coming, then better to be prepared and ride the trend now.

nope, I believe this is a big event for the crypto market community in late 2020.
actually, this is an event for the "rich". node must have at least 32 ETH ~ 14k $ at the moment. for the upcoming Ethereum 2.0 PoS mechanism, the higher the package pickers, the higher the block processing rate will be. So this is a favorable opportunity for the whole market to buy ETH and receive passive profits.
With the above mechanism, I confidently confirm that ETH will soon return to ATH in 2021.

Solving the scalability issue is the main purpose of upgrading the current version of ETH network. There transaction speed per seconds is too low that's why there's a lot of pending transaction on there network considering the volume of transaction per day happening on ETH due to many ERC20 currently built on its network. I don't want to expect more hype on the price because we will not benefit that on the long run. Solving the scalability issue is what I want because it will bring more transaction on ETH that might result to an organic price growth compared on the hype price inflation only.

It's because the bitcoin trend is rising again. and ETH can trigger the price, maybe we can hit new ATH in 2021 when bitcoin on $20k. the announcement also very good btw, more people will back to eth again because the gas fees will be minimizes

People have really waited for long for eth 2.0 and finally it is getting ready to launch. No doubt that the expectations are very high and i am hopeful that the eth developers will not disappoint its huge community and users and mainnet will be a pleasure surprise for everyone of us.

ETh already announced the release date of 2.0 cersion. Its 1st December. So after BTC bullrun we can see ETH and other alts bullrun. It seems like 2017-2018 years repeat

We have been waiting for growth for several years and perhaps the launch of ETH2.0 will be the stage for the beginning of a new rally in the cryptocurrency market.  In any case, growth is more likely in the next 2-3 weeks, in anticipation of launch.

You can argue all day about developments in the eth2 but the chart says it's going up https://www.coingecko.com/en/coins/ethereum and that's not an opinion. The investors or would be validators are definitely happy that things are moving along and that they can be involved in something they see as profitable. The speculators that are helping the price pump couldn't care less about it. They're just buying the rumors and selling the news.

I too wish there was more discussion on this. It would atleast be possible for people to have more information about the consensus process rather than just assuming that 32-ETH validators will automatically lead to a working chain. Moving from PoW to PoS has long been considered the alternative for scaling the blockchains after Vitalik's failed attempts at sharding. The whole ETH 2.0 narrative gained ground very quickly after Vitalik posted that characteristically complicated roadmap of ETH 2.0

For one, I wonder how exactly blocks are going to be formed in a blockchain where people can be "validators" by just staking or locking ETH. Where is the actual "node" that orders the transactions and propagates them. Sure its Proof of "Stake". Does that mean there is no "Work" at all? I would love to have explanations from some of the people here who understand this.

It is indeed great to know that Eth has passed its testing phase successfuly after being in testing for several months.
Now the most exciting thing is that minnet for eth 2.0 is also announced for december 1 which is not far away and im expecting good fomo in eth price around that time and i hope eth will be able to break 1k mark.

Validators for the ETH 2.0 launch already crossed the minimum number required, and this is really creating a positive impact on  ETH price. As it stands, mainnet launch won't exceed December 1st and it's really amazing, hence the long wait is worthwhile. I hope the launch will be successful, and scalability will be improved in as much as people still benefit from the staking. I don't have up to 32 ETH which is the minimum requirement, but I'm still happy with this development. I also hope fees are reduced more with ETH 2.0 launch.

If you invest right now, you are going to start getting stakes later on plus you are speeding things up as well, if enough people deposit that will show the chain that this is what we want and that will take things considerably quicker to final destination versus waiting for the minimum to be reached.

I feel like the minimum will be reached in record speed and we will move towards 2.0 very fast, I doubt anyone would want something like this to be postponed and they will probably want it right away. There was also talks about being able to stake even today if you do something but I didn't really understand how, I assume it will start when the public release happens and not now but there were some ways around people were talking about, if that is the case things could change very quickly.

As it is quite evident and clear now that eth 2.0 will be launching within a month time from here. I hope we will see crazy hype and fomo about it and eth would make it really big because it really is a big event as it will transform the most adopted blockchain network to comply with the increasing demands and eth will be on the path to take this tech everywhere.

You are talking about the technical side? Fair enough. I gotta admit that I'm not too confident with my knowledge on how eth2.0 works like shards and all that.

The rules are quite different when you think of the factors that's going to affect the price [pump or dump]. The popularity and the user base should also be considered aside from the profitability and the technical developments. Just think of how bitcoin is still the king even if it has real scalability and network fee issues.

ETH update takes new hype and that evidence clearly visible to coinmarketcap as second to market volume next to bitcoin. Well not bad for those who had made ETH pump up to test and try the new network. It is a better way to see how eth network has improve and hopefully someone here in the forum would make a statement or affirm their experience using the new eth network especially when making transactions. There could be at least a thread for the new eth network.

As the potential coins at the market, ethereum can get a pump anytime. You can see the price now increases a lot than before. I don't know what change of the project, but I only know about staking on the ethereum, which can be a good move. When ethereum is one of the good coins, I only think that an update to the project can lift the price. That makes me sure that the ethereum price can get the pump in the future. But if you don't want to invest in ethereum, that will be your decision. Maybe we have different views on ethereum, and that is okay.

Yeah, ETh has started growing during last days. May be we can see new ATH. previous ATH was around 1400$ per ETH in January 2018. May be this time it will go higher
