I read the tweet from cz binance he said
"If there is a blockchain based mobile voting App (with proper KYC of course), we won't have to wait for results, or have any questions on its validity. Privacy can be protected using a number of encryption mechanisms."

I am wondering if it is possible that a presidential election in a large country like America or other countries will use the system blockchain? with the advancement of the blockchain the election results will reduce voting costs and our final results will not be waiting much longer.

Already Estonia have integrated each and everything with blockchain technology. As a part, the voting too is integrated with blockchain technology. More blockchain based firms are getting registered on Estonia. In future we can expect more countries to have the voting through unique id provided for each citizen and verify the fair functioning of voting. As Estonia is a small country with limited population it is quite easy to implement. The same requires time to implement on large countries with higher population.

It's cool and it will make it easier to verified the winners the only problem for this one is how you can registered and how secured to use it for voting.

there are those who have planned for it before ,and they see that it is a good way to vote and it will make voting easier but there are many things that need  considered first . for example internet access ,many more places have difficulty with the internet and even electricity in their country that's why it will hard for them to adopt this method if ever government want it .

There are many people make this idea before I don't know what happen now https://www.thebalance.com/how-the-blockchain-will-change-how-we-vote-4012008 .

Sounds good but I don't think it will benefit to block chain industry because these stuff are conducted in daily basis, I appreciate your thinking but looks like oversmart to me.

I personally think it's not secure and it may end up by doing some malfunctioning, there are many reasons blockchain is not good for voting system and I am sure it will not favor to public.

I've read this topic in reddit honestly back then but already forgot the link to the topic but there's already rumour around about using blockchain for voting even Andrew Yang proposes about it but back then people couldn't give less attention to this topic LOL. but there's certainly some security concern that needs to be adressed before blockchain based voting becomes viable. Not to mention that mobile apps tend to be unreliable when it comes to important thing like this.

Will be great if the Blockchain for voting is decentralized, and remain decentralized... not built on so called Private Blockchain or any centralized tech based on blockchain.  If you accept the proposal without knowing the details of what they are proposing, you could end up with a centralized systems for national elections.

I think it can easily work on a well decentralized system with features to verify participants identities.
You'll need to make the system very transparent, immutable, secure... and keep the users anonymous for this to work really well. Protecting the anonymity/privacy of users will make vote buying difficult. Users Verified Private Identities should be well encrypted, controlled by the users and stored on the decentralized/shared system. Identity verification could be done physically on p2p basis by reputable members of the community who would be selected randomly by the system, or you could do the verification online by splitting the users private info and send them to multiple verifiers for verification.

--snip--
Rightly said. There is not a single blockchain in existence that cannot be compromised by someone with enough funds to influence the outcome. While I would bet my satoshis on bitcoin if such a time was to come, even then, when the thing at stake is "democracy", you can never fully rely on technology. CZ'z comment is just another one typical of these Chinese marketers. Frankly, while the Chinese have been contributing a lot, they are shit at marketing. Take for example the antics of the TRON guy.

The day when people start relying on things like blockchain voting is the day when you can actually bid goodbye to democracy. Even today, the best method to vote is the good'ol method of manual ballots and the weeks and months of kickass work done by a plethora of people ranging from minor Govt officials, booth workers to bipartisan observers ready to come to blows in case any hint of fraud becomes visible. This is the only way that real people get to participate in the democracy. People think that "voting" is just the power that democracy gives you. In reality, becoming part of the whole voting process from electioneering to booth level jobs distributed to community members, is the real proof of democracy. If there is anything worth fighting for, its your individual, sovereign right to a fair election.

Its a crazy and Shit idea to have elections on blockchain. Someone tell CZ to shut the fuck up and keep selling hype.

Yes, blockchain based voting app is surely the future, being efficient, transparent and autonomous it can bring an end to election rigging allegations worldwide. Hopefully, some countries will take a step forward by using it for their elections.

It's possible but i think that this can be considered as a private blockchain. The decentralized blockchain cannot be used for that but the voting for the presidential election will be much more transparent if that will be using the blockchain.
I remember there's a country that has used blockchain to be a verification system.
I forget which country but i have ever read that on the news site.
Just imagine when the vote that comes from anyone will be encrypted and published like txs. The problem is how about security? if it's controlled by a party and it can also be manipulated too..

Am afraid this will happen soon with some large countries, also, there should be more emphasis on the type of Blockchain they chose to build their Apps. Going for a centralized Blockchain is as staging with the traditional system but if any country adopt the use of a decentralized Blockchain then the system will be fair enough for such purpose. This won't be feasible in my country becasue, the means of rigging elections won't be available for anyone to manipulate.

It sounds good in theory but not in practice, since once someone vote you can easily know who that person votes for and voting is meant to be personal. I also read somewhere that you can't use blockchain for voting, can you imagine over 100 million people trying to send transaction on Ethereum or even Bitcoin, it would take days before all these transactions are confirm, maybe in future when we have better scaling solutions this might happen

The officials will see it as a transparent voting process. If a country has corrupt government officials, they wouldn't allow such technology to interfere with the voting process.

But the application of blockchain to the voting process will give transparency just like what every citizen wants. A quick vote would display to the network or chain of the voting process and everyone is free to see it.

It's like a dream come true but we need to wait for tests and possible dry runs for countries that have already applied it.

If indeed the blockchain is used for voting, maybe there will be no inflating of votes or precisely

all the data of people who do KYC there will definitely be no double data, and calculation errors

will definitely be minimized or can be avoided.
There is no data error or double if they using ID card as KYC method, this document cannot be faked. And of course, this is a good way. I really support blockchain-based mobile voting, but I think for now it's so hard to implement because so many people around the world are unfamiliar with blockchain.

this is what we need now, blockchain will help us to calculate voting and minimize the failure of this voting. i am ever heard USA company WinterGreen Research and Government Blockchain Association developting technology for voting based on blockchain. this articles explain step by step blokchain voting https://www.leewayhertz.com/blockchain-voting-making-elections-secure/
For people who don't know about blockchain maybe that step by step bother their minds, not all people know it even in America. I think the first step that government should do is introduce crypto massively on the internet, television, and other communication media, after they do it of course Blockchain based mobile voting App easy to do

The idea is really cool, imagine just voting from the comfort of your home, who wouldn’t want that?
But the question is whether it is possible or not. There have been places where it was tried in states or cities for some kind of votes as a test, and from the report those people are giving, it is not safe for voting.

From the article, it maybe able to carry a small number of votes, but can’t carry something like a notional votes, because it’s vulnerable to being hacked. Anyway, as time goes on we will know if we can figure out a better to do that.

Vote polling can be one of the best utilization of blockchain technology even though the App is not necessary or possibly in future there are countries which tried election polls with the help of blockchain but they never wants it to be on the major election due to the fear if losing.Because it is impossible to change the results into your favor even if you are the ruling party but the ruling party never wants to let that power to go out of their hands.

No man, this is a great idea, not too clever !! if every country uses the Blockchain based mobile voting App it will save costs for the election of the president, just imagine that the government will not pay for transportation or paper printing. If the government knew about the benefits and researched the Blockchain based mobile voting App, it is likely that the use of Blockchain based mobile voting App will be realized in the near future.

So I guess even if the technology is noble, flawless, and not vulnerable to digital attacks from hackers and what have you, we still need to think and consider the human part of the equation. If blockchain is incorruptible then sadly the humans aren't that good and with that and can easily be swayed by money and power that they will be able to simply switch codes or maybe have another blockchain declared the winning candidate that supposedly shouldn't win. There should be restraints on both tech and those who manage it.

Will be great if the Blockchain for voting is decentralized, and remain decentralized... not built on so called Private Blockchain or any centralized tech based on blockchain.  If you accept the proposal without knowing the details of what they are proposing, you could end up with a centralized systems for national elections.
--snip--
Rightly said. There is not a single blockchain in existence that cannot be compromised by someone with enough funds to influence the outcome. While I would bet my satoshis on bitcoin if such a time was to come, even then, when the thing at stake is "democracy", you can never fully rely on technology.

I think a decentralized & good Blockchain for national elections will be quite difficult to compromise if everyone/most voters run full nodes, the Blockchain is well decentralized, very transparent, immutable, anonymous, etc.
To make it much safer, you could combine it with manual voting... You vote through your device on a shared Blockchain then your vote is printed out from authorized printer on the election venue, you verify your vote and cast it in the election box/material
