I have seen some similar projects, like Tor, NKN, and Orchid.
Tor is not a blockchain project, but the concept is quite close.

In my opinion, Orchid almost has the same idea as you.
Can you give me some ideas about the difference between yours and them?

Tor is not a blockchain project, but the concept is quite close.

In my opinion, Orchid almost has the same idea as you.
Can you give me some ideas about the difference between yours and them?

Hello, thanks for your questions.

TOR is software, that is why we consider it to consume significantly less CPU time.  Tor depends on a centralized directory service which can be easily banned. On the other hand, Deeper Network Trident Protocol is very fast and totally decentralized thanks to its blockchain technology genes.

For Orchid, that is a popular project.
Let me share more information with you.

1. Network Security
Deeper has enterprise-grade network-security technologies; Orchid Protocol has no network security-related technology.

Network security technology is one of Deeper’s core competitive advantage; it also happens to be an indispensable foundation for the network sharing model to function:

1.1. Deeper Network’s Secure Network Sharing
Users face the following risks when participating in bandwidth sharing, for example:
IP is used to illegally download copyrighted BT resources
IP is used to upload or download child porn videos
IP is used for cyberattacks
Deeper has enterprise-grade 7 layers of deep packet inspection which protects users' networks from illegal use at all levels of the network. Users can participate in bandwidth sharing with confidence. Deeper's world-class network security technology is unmatched.

1.2. Network-security Enables More Useful Applications
Deeper's product is not only a network sharing device but also a network security device. Not only can it provide users with DPN (Decentralized Private Network) services, but it can also function as a next-gen distributed firewall that provides users with enterprise-level network security and privacy protection whether they choose to enable network sharing or not.

2. Superior Network Sharing Technology

Deeper’s Trident Protocol vs Orchid Protocol’s WebRTC Protocol
Deeper's shared network is implemented using the in-house Trident protocol. The Trident protocol is a sharing protocol specially developed for P2P mesh networks. It has the following characteristics:

1. Intranet penetration
2. Protocol disguise
3. Traffic obfuscation
4. Randomized ports
5. Tunnel congestion control

The Trident protocol can ensure all nodes on the Deeper Network can safely, and fully interconnect with nodes around the world.

The Web RTC protocol adopted by the Orchid Protocol was originally designed as a protocol for point-to-point A/V transmission. It is not a protocol designed for decentralized network transmission. The WebRTC protocol has obvious characteristics that can easily be identified and blocked. The WebRTC protocol requires the support of a central server to run which is contrary to a decentralized network. The WebRTC protocol has no congestion control function. When it comes to network communication across firewalls, countries, and continents, WebRTC’s performance cannot meet the real needs of users.

Deeper’s smart routing vs Orchid Protocol’s single, unidirectional routing

Deeper’s smart routing technology can identify and seamlessly switch tunnel connections on the fly to bypass any region-restricted content.

Orchid protocol’s method is more like a traditional VPN, which only provides users with a single, unidirectional network tunnel

3. Complete Blockchain Ecosystem

The Deeper chain was developed by Deeper from the ground up to specialize in mass-scale communication between distributed nodes. The two-layer structure enables Deeper chain to reach a processing speed of 100,000 per second. At the same time, the Proof of Credit consensus algorithm, which is unique to Deeper, enables each node to not only share bandwidth but also incentivizes participation in the blockchain consensus process and reap mining rewards.

The blockchain part of the Orchid Protocol only serves as a dAPP within Ethereum. Ethereum's current high gas fees and extremely slow processing speed are not suitable as a basic platform for mass scale micropayments.

Deeper Network is a complete ecosystem. Deeper has a user-friendly gateway, a global shared secure network, a highly scalable and efficient blockchain, and limitless potential in its dAPP store.

The Orchid Protocol is merely a single dAPP. It is not a stretch to say that Deeper’s dAPP mall will eventually spawn multiple applications that are similar in nature to Orchid Protocol.

4. Superior Product

Deeper's offerings include both hardware and software. Hardware products can run 24×7 hours to provide stable resources for shared networks.
The software client by the Orchid Protocol is in the form of a mobile APP. A mobile phone's network connection environment is inherently unstable, and due to power limitations, it is not suitable as a network sharing node. In order for the Orchid Protocol to maintain a smooth network, a large number of cloud nodes need to be deployed to provide services. This is no different from traditional VPN technology. Orchid Protocol is applying blockchain concepts just for the sake of it.

Deeper’s hardware functions on a network level. A Deeper device can serve and protect all connected devices in the entire home network, including mobile phones, computers, and IoT devices.

Orchid protocol is limited to only mobile phones. A user must install the Orchid APP on each and every phone, one by one. The mobile APP cannot interoperate with other devices like desktops or IoT.

5. Superior Business Model

5.1. Higher Adoption Rate
Deeper’s mantra has always been about prioritizing the end-user experience. A Deeper customer can benefit from our product despite:
lacking a technical background
unaware of the concept and existence of blockchain
a full understanding of VPNs or firewalls
Deeper's hardware is true plug-and-play, making the complex topic of cybersecurity more approachable to the general consumer, paving the way for mass adoption.

The complex on-ramp process to use Orchid Protocol is destined to have limited appeal beyond those deeply vested in crypto. Their market penetration and adoption rate will pale in comparison by orders of magnitude.

5.2. Diversified Revenue Stream
Deeper developed its own hardware, software, and blockchain, enabling a diversified stream of revenue.

Hardware:
Deeper’s hardware is hyper optimized with a cost as low as $5. Deeper can profit from hardware sales alone by focusing on the high-end market, or it can subsidize hardware for market share to build up its network ecosystem. The latter of which is unmatched by any competitor.

Software:
At the same time, Deeper can earn revenue from operating system upgrades, security database updates, and software subscription fees.

Blockchain:
Deeper chain and PoC consensus mechanism ensure high transaction processing frequency and low transaction costs, both of which are critical to dAPP development and distribution. Deeper can profit from dAPP transaction fees, and it can also benefit from appreciation of DPR token value with increased dAPP usage.

Hope this may give you more idea about our Deeper Network. Cool Cool

Thanks for asking.

Deeper Network is different from other blockchain projects,  not only with an actural product.

Most blockchain projects aim to build the blockchain first and then try to find their applications and users. At Deeper, our vision has always been product and customers first; developing useful products that can be used by many users across the world.

Deeper devices provide private, secure, plug and play DPN (decentralized private network) services to users.
This application layer serves as the bottom layer, also called the deeper layer.  Then we build the blockchain layer on top of that. This way, we already have a wide user base for our blockchain.

This two-layer structure forms a closed loop: The blockchain layer incentivizes the users to join the deeper layer to share bandwidth using block rewards.
On the other hand, the devices in the deeper layer will earn micropayments and accumulate the credit scores when sharing the bandwidth, and they can delegate their credit scores into validators in the blockchain layer to secure the blockchain system. The close loop will help the network to grow and be sustainable.

In general, the Proof of Credit is the core component that makes our system secure and decentralized. The credit system we build can be used widely in various applications similar to traditional financial services.

From a broader point of view, our two-layer blockchain system acts as a backbone infrastructure to the future of a decentralized Web 3.0.

This is interesting, you mentioned that you will enroll lots of users first, then bring them the blockchain applications.
If they are average users, how can they understand your ecosystem?
I wonder how many active users you already have now?

Hi, thanks for asking.

The first stage of our project is to expand the node as much as we could.
As you have said, at the very beginning there will be lots of ordinary users in the system.
They can use our device for security functions such as decentralized VPN and a home firewall.
Then,  there will be more and more blockchain users join the ecosystem for mining(sharing the bandwidth)
We believe with this strategy, the expansion of our node will be efficiently

About the active users you have mentioned, we already have 5000+ active users all over the world now.

Hi there, thank you for your interest.

Deeper Network is building a truly decentralized and secure gateway towards a more democratic internet. The company’s vision is to deliver the next generation of trusted, private, and secure internet gateway into every household. For this standout vision, Deeper Network was selected over numerous applicants to take part in the Substrate Builders Program, bringing us one step closer to the future of a truly decentralized web.

Deeper Network’s flagship product line, the Deeper Connect, is the world’s first blockchain-powered secure gateway that enables users to securely and privately browse the internet free of censorship. Participation in the Substrate Builders Program marks the beginning of Deeper Network’s pivotal role in the Polkadot ecosystem and opens up a new world of possibilities for Deeper Network to expand upon its own blockchain ecosystem.

By joining the Substrate builders program the core development team for Deeper Network will be supported by the Parity team and its community in preparation for the launch of the mainnet.

I have noticed that there is a web3 project called SpiderDao which is doing a similar thing.
Do you aware of this, or what is the difference between your project and theirs?

Do I have to buy the device to mine the coins ?

Hello,

Thanks for reaching out.
The simple answer is YES.

For an ordinary user, the device is a decentralized VPN and home firewall.
For cryptocurrency players, it is a mining rig that has a low energy consumption and only needs to share your Idle bandwidth.

Please ask us if you have further questions about the project.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you still want to know more about the coins(DPR)
Here is the info about the use of DPR tokens

Deeper's vision is to create a highly secure, high performance, and censorship-resistant decentralized communication network by combining technologies in network security, network sharing, and blockchain. The network is able to provide the following decentralized network services in tandem with the use of DPR tokens:

1. DPN (Decentralized Private Network)
DPN is a P2P decentralized bandwidth sharing network.

DPR use case:
Users earn DPR tokens via sharing their idle bandwidth. Traditional P2P network models lack effective economic incentives, which leads to an imbalance between bandwidth usage and bandwidth consumption in practice. Compared to traditional P2P networks, DPR incentivizes users to actively contribute bandwidth to the network thus making the overall network more robust and performant for everyone.

2. Decentralized DNS Services
DNS is the architecture for resolving IP addresses and querying the Internet. Having a centralized DNS infrastructure makes the Internet extremely fragile, and prone to censorships and attacks. Decentralized DNS services help to make the Internet more democratic and prevent the open internet from being controlled by a single entity.

DPR use case:
Users can use DPR to purchase decentralized domain names anonymously on the Deeper chain, and have complete ownership over it instead of leasing it through ICANN. Users can also obtain their own cryptographic keys for digital signatures, essentially eliminating the need for third-party CAs.

3. Decentralized Cyber Security Services
Each Deeper node is a next-generation firewall (NGFW), serving to prevent network attacks via network scanning: overflow attacks, injection attacks, denial of service attacks, and so on.

DPR use case:
Users pay DPR to purchase Deeper nodes on-demand as their home firewall to hide their IP address and prevent various network attacks. Users can safely set up websites on the Deeper Network infrastructure without needing to worry about websites being scanned, blocked, or attacked.

DPR can also be used for OS updates, security database updates, and security subscription services. On the flip side, a node can earn DPR tokens if it contributes to network security, such as discovering malicious behaviors on the network.

4. Decentralized Gateway Services(dApp store)
Deeper Connect is a decentralized gateway to web3.0. True decentralization means that no single organization can dominate over the entire network. It also means that a single point of failure will affect the functioning of the entire network. Decentralized gateways, decentralized public chains, and decentralized applications. For example, Ethereum Network remains centralized at the gateway level and is overly dependent on the API interface services provided by Infura for major dApps. Infura itself relies on AWS cloud services provided by Amazon. This means that the Ethereum ecosystem cannot be uncoupled from centralized network structures and is not truly decentralized. This naturally lends itself to the pitfalls of centralized network structures. This is evident as the recent Infura downtime has led to the paralysis of most Ethereum dApps. Deeper, on the other hand, has achieved true decentralization on all levels: decentralized gateways, decentralized public chains, and decentralized applications.

Not only can Deeper Connect users securely access various decentralized network services provided by Deeper Network, but they can also seamlessly access various third-party dApp applications, such as decentralized storage services in the Polkadot ecosystem or DeFi services such as exchanges. We can take the iPhone as an analogy:

1. Deeper's Deeper Connect hardware is akin to the iPhone hardware
2. Deeper's built-in DPN and other applications are akin to iPhone's built-in apps such as phone, email, etc.
3. Deeper's dApp store is akin to the iPhone's App Store

The difference is that iPhone provides users with a centralized Internet gateway, whereas Deeper Connect provides users with a decentralized web3.0 gateway.

DPR use case:
Third-party developers need to stake a certain amount of DPR tokens to have their dApps hosted within the Deeper ecosystem. At the same time, third-party dApps must be able to accept DPR as a means of payment for services, and Deeper takes a percentage of DPR revenue as a service fee.

Other Use Cases for DPR Tokens

Staking: Nodes can increase the speed of credit accumulation as part of the PoC consensus algorithm by staking more DPR to improve mining efficiency.

As gas for smart contracts: Deeper Chain is a Turing complete public chain that can run smart contracts. Deeper Chain provides the world's first decentralized credit system based on the PoC consensus algorithm. Secure sharing economy, DeFi applications, or other credit-related dApp can be developed based on this credit system.

Hello, thank you for raising this up.

Yes, we are aware of SpiderDao and the similarities shared with the dVPN, hardware nodes, and bandwidth sharing marketplace. Our network's advantage lies in the deep security provided by our uniquely developed AtomOS and Trident protocol which ensures a true layer of security and privacy for the entire network and its participants. SpiderDAO's solution seems to be based off of OpenWRT. Our software is hyper optimized for our hardware nodes and its intended applications, integrating both aspects harmoniously.

Hi, I have read the  CEO Interview.
He mentioned a commercial plan.
"The layout of 1 million nodes will be achieved within three years"
It looks like a huge task since you have claimed 5k users, right?

I wonder how can you realize the plan? By selling your product to the users?

Hello, thanks for asking.

Deeper's vision is to create a highly secure, high performance, and censorship-resistant decentralized communication network by combining technologies in network security, network sharing, and blockchain.

The project has a plan of deploying a million nodes in several years.
That is the first stage of our project.
Hardware selling is one of the ways of deploying the nodes.
We also develop the software solution, the user can become a node by using the software.

We also have the second stage of the project.
With the deployment of the node all over the world and a mature decentralized communication network, the project may provide many decentralized network services, such as Decentralized Private Network(Already functional), Decentralized DNS Services, Decentralized Cyber Security Services, and Decentralized Gateway Services(dApp store)
These are just some services of the ecosystem, we may develop more services in the near future.

Hi, thanks for asking.
I agree with you that lots of projects claim the relationship with polka which is not. Grin Grin

If you can go to the https://www.polkaproject.com/, and search  "deeper network"
You may find our project is under the substrate-based projects.

If you visit Polkadot, Substrate io on twitter.
You may also find they have twittered our news.

I've been doing the rounds trying to grasp the full scope of the project. Looking back at some past answers regarding hardware and the Bandwidth sharing.

You mention nefarious actors. What acts will get a user flagged as a nefarious actor? How do you actually tag and exclude a nefarious actor, in a decentralized and anonymous network? Forgive my ignorance here, but was does someone's ISP see when they are sharing bandwidth and what not.

Any particular reason for the Hardware shipping date being moved to May from February? Is it just virus related or a hardware issue?

Also I believe the team should definitely look into creating an earnings estimate for users who do want to share Bandwidth. That's a pretty big piece of the ecosystem, and knowing will incentive some to take part.

Apart from that. Token launch was delayed recently. I've heard conflicting issues/reports across TG groups. Any firm dates and information around what happened and when official launches will take place again?

I reached out to reps for Deeper Network through Telegram and received responses to my questions. Posting here to update the thread as they are busy and focused elsewhere. I am hoping to follow up and receive  even a broad strokes version of handling nefarious actors, or a link when there is an in-depth explanation.

Quote
I've been doing the rounds trying to grasp the full scope of the project. Looking back at some
past answers regarding hardware and the Bandwidth sharing.

How do you actually tag and exclude a nefarious actor, in a decentralized and
anonymous network? Forgive my ignorance here, but was does someone's ISP see when
they are sharing bandwidth and what not.

Answering your questions, by nefarious actors we mean anyone who engages in online illegal
activity. About the tagging and exclusion, that is a deep question and we may require an entire
and exclusive thread. About the ISP, the IP address is exposed but the traffic should be
encrypted

Any particular reason for the Hardware shipping date being moved to May from
February? Is it just virus related or a hardware issue?

Not sure what you mean by virus related, but facts are we currently do not have any Minis in
stock due to increasing scarcity in raw materials, more specifically a real famine in
semiconductors. This is a global issue that anyone can easily verify with a simple google search
and whose causes are well known. Yet we have bought the needed materials at a premium as
we have a long list to cover, we will start producing in early April and start shipping again at the
end of the month. We are producing at a higher cost than we originally expected but we had to,
our customers are waiting. I think that answers your question as to why we had to move the
date.

Also I believe the team should definitely look into creating an earnings estimate for users
who do want to share Bandwidth. That's a pretty big piece of the ecosystem, and
knowing will incentive some to take part.

We have heard this suggestion before and we are always sensitive and receptive to ideas
originating at the earth of our community. We are looking forward to materializing this
suggestion, possible in the near future. For now, we would like to let everyone know that our
device has a much lower cost than PoW miners and has much less intensive energy
requirements. The details of our Proof of Credit (PoC) consensus mechanism can be found in
our whitepaper.

Apart from that. Token launch was delayed recently. I've heard conflicting issues/reports
across TG groups. Any firm dates and information around what happened and when
official launches will take place again?

We didn't want IDO participants to wait too long to receive their DPR tokens. We also wanted to
make sure our liquidity pools were ready for traders to trade right after they get their $DPR tokens. But the dates look like this
Ignition: April 5
Pools: April 6
Tokensoft April 8 --- No special holding requirements

I've found for immediate assistance at the moment it's best to reach out Via Telegram. Questions that aren't time sensitive should still receive a response through here as far as I know it's being checked on once again.

These networks shall be founded on the premise of non-monetization and libertarian spirit analogous to Tor and wikipedia. U are free to have a foundation set up to absorb donations from the supporter, u can do that, but u cant issue a coin to monetize. If u do that u get pigeonholed in the same category as XRP and u wont pass Howey test. U aim to public-sale deeper coin to fund ur operations this is illegal.
