I don't quite understand the question. Nothing in the post you quoted suggests otherwise.
Sorry my mistake. Maybe this will help: Isn't Jade a bitcoin-only wallet? 1. ☐ Yes 2. ☐ No 3. ☐ I need a hug (multiple selection possible)

Pmalek answered his question perfectly. I do not think he needs to ask the question again except he is trolling. Everything about Blockstream, starting from their software wallet to their hardwares and blockchain explorer are all about bitcoin and no altcoins supported.

I thought maybe he thought "Open Source" meant "Supports all coins" or something like that. Some people don't understand the basics at all, sadly.

List is updated with two new open source devices, Passport Prime and Jade Plus. Passport Prime is not only a hardware wallet since it has many additional features, but I still decided to include it and wait to see the official release. Jade Plus is already released and shipping started, this is upgraded slightly larger version of Jade wallet with some improvements and stronger materials. Here is one size comparison between Jade and Jade Plus devices, you can clearly see significantly larger screen on Jae Plus: I found this new version of Jade beautiful, I haven't seen anything about it yet, I simply found out about the new version when visiting the website The Bitcoin Hole which does a great job by the way in listing all the features of all HWs making our choice easier. Isn't Jade a bitcoin-only wallet? I don't quite understand the question. Nothing in the post you quoted suggests otherwise. Both Passport and Blockstream manufacture bitcoin-only signing devices or airgapped hardware wallets if you like. They only offer support for Bitcoin, but the Passport Prime also offers ways to secure codes, keys, seed phrases, and other digital files that you may find important. That can include keys to altcoins. Passport Prime is a great update, they said there will be third party app capabilities on KeyOS (which is a much better OS than Ledger's bolos) and it will have its first third party integration through a partnership with Cake Wallet, I'm curious to see what other open source third party apps will look like. There's no documentation yet other than a promotional video for Passport Prime.

Keycard Shell is added in the list and this device is not available for purchase. I have to say I am really impressed with this device, especially for the price of €109 that comes with two Keycard cards in package. This device is using good only removable BL-4C batteries that was used in old Nokia phones. Keycard Shell is air-gapped device with ERC-4527 QR code standard, and it supports Bitcoin and other altcoins. Supported software wallets for bitcoin are Sparrow, Blue wallet, Nunchuk, Specter, Bull Bitcoin and other wallet. https://keycard.tech/

@dkbit98. hi! Probably it's time to extend the list of open source hardware wallets by FrostSnap. I have visited their repo and found that they already published 7 releases, v0.2.0 is the latest one. All relevant software components are opened source: BTW, I'm very impressed by the progress shown on their official site. It looks like things are going pretty well for them.

Speaking about diverse wallets. Do you think there is an advantage in going with a mainstream solution, or is it more convenient and secure to go with a niche player? I have a feeling staying in the middle of the crowd, in this particular application, has a high value. I would prefer staying with a big provider, with constantly updated and audited software and services, rather than onboarding a new producer and thinking about which new bug could affect their product all the time.

It depends. For example I consider Foundation’s line of wallets to be niche oriented because they focus heavily on build quality and extreme security. For storing my main stash I chose Passport Core rather than Trezor or Ledger, which in my view belong to the mainstream wallets. Tangem is also the niche hardware wallet, and I use it for small amounts that I need in my daily routine for example to top up my Ready or Wirex crypto cards.

There are pros and cons, but being ''mainstream'' manufacturer is no guarantee, just look how ledger crap retired a bunch of their devices. Trezor also retired Trezor One and model T (like I warned several times), so it's probably better to look for other long term solutions. I still think Trezor is going to provide code updates much longer than other manufacturers.

Yeah, this wallet wouldn’t work for everyone because it isn’t designed to. For instance, I wouldn’t use it in my daily routine, since its security model assumes that all devices required to sign the multisig transaction are stored in geographically distant locations. However, I could find it interesting for the inheritance scheme though I’d still need to think it through carefully. That’s why I might order this wallet three hardware signers in fact just to fiddle with it a little.

Blockstrea recently released their new device called Jade Core, so I updated my list. Jade Core is priced between Jade and Jade Plus, it's not airgapped, it has no camera, no battery, and it's made of plastic. Price is $99 and it can be connected with USB-C or Bluetooth connection. https://store.blockstream.com/products/blockstream-jade-core

Price is $99 and it can be connected with USB-C or Bluetooth connection. https://store.blockstream.com/products/blockstream-jade-coreWhy should a potential buyer choose this particular device? What are its advantages over its competitors? Price? No. The device is quite expensive (based on the functions provided). Open source? There are a lot of open source devices. Does it use any special security features? "Jade Core employs open-source blind oracle technology, functioning as a virtual secure element to shield your bitcoin from a wide array of threats. This security model ensures that your bitcoin is safe from online attacks and even physical theft of the device." - What makes this device special? Can someone clearly explain the benefits of this technology? And does this technology actually provide benefits? Have any tests been conducted? One nitpick: why did they add Bluetooth to this device? Among the positives, I see a minimalist design without any frills or flashiness (which is exactly what bitcoiners need). They say "free shipping" on their website, but when you buy something, a shipping cost appears (pay attention to "shipping"). Does Blockstream have a different idea about free shipping?

One nitpick: why did they add Bluetooth to this device?
The original Jade and the Jade Plus also have Bluetooth but you can have it turned off on a firmware level. They offer two firmware options: one where Bluetooth is turned on and a second one without it. If you don't want to connect to a desktop using USB, you can do it over Bluetooth. It's just one more way to pair the device to companion software apps. Not just the Blockstream App, but many other third party wallets.
