I have sold my Ethereum back those days. It was $1k+ also. I forgot the exact figure.
Then I bought it back at $230-260. Now, I am in profits once again. Lucky. 

You could also bought it back when the price went down hard to $80, I'm sure that those who have scoop ETH on that price are very very happy. I just had a discussion with that last night with a friend which I taught to invest early on ETH. 

Bitcoin though is something I won't sell just yet. I believe there is much more we could experience than this.

Since the last time on 2018 when was 16K many shit/alt coins we changed in price some of them are fallen down and some others are still rising. As you may know, Bitcoin could recover a huge part of price fall after 2017, but many other big shitcoins still couldn't recover. That's reason why we love it.

I think no one that has been in this market for years that won't believe about the recovering of Bitcoin from dumping market.

And best example is the Bear happens last march that many Panicking investors take out their funds and regret what happen after a month.

The probability for bitcoin to recover by the end of this year still high considering how the market still in a bullish condition, today bitcoin will retesting $16,5k resistance, if it works then $17k is closer than what we may think. 2021 and 2022 will be a different story for bitcoin, depend on the new ATH, probably $25k or $30k, the correction may cause a big dump to a certain level but it should be able to recover faster than the last time. hopefully, we could see bitcoin reach $50k by the next year.

It's hard to believe that bitcoin reach 16k$ once again but I guess this could only mean one thing for most of the investors, surely the potential for profit is high, Bitcoin market price could easily skyrocket up to 20k$ hopefully in the coming months.

Only Bitcoin is real and lovely cryptocurrency that is loved by by all crypto lovers. We have seen $16k in December 2017 and after 3 years recovered with many ups and downs. It has touched its glorious point again but still other top coins can't recover. Ethereum is still 3x less, LTC 4x less and other coins are nearly same position comparison to 2017. It proves that only  Bitcoin is real and it can't be give comparison with any altcoins.

Bitcoin is the sure investment for everyone mostly those with the aim of long-term.   

Before this time, bitcoin got to $16k in 2017. In that year, it proved to be the best cryptocurrency of all time. And recently, it had a touch at that level, we are likely to keep seeing such and altcoins will begin bull soon. Yes its really true that we love bitcoin for all the time .You mention the less recovering process of altcoin but eth is still on the 2nd position with huge amount of volume and transaction .I think when btc become stable altcoin will get the bull run and will be recovered as well .

most alts have very short lifespan like couple of months in the trading market. some can extend up to 6 months but you will observe that their last months are pretty dull and showing continuous decline of price. those are alts with no use case whatsoever but just pure talk from the dev team and manipulation in the market.
 there are only few alts that have real use case like what you mentioned above and a lot of them, we dont actually need. so dont expect there will be sign of recovery for crap alts

if we look at their ICO price, they have reached more than 100% base price of the ICO then to me it is not shitcoin
