XMRig performance on Ryzen 3950X low

Hi

Im hoping someone might be able to assist me. Ive just setp XMrig 6.4 (under Debian linux) on a Ryzen 3950X but despite enabling Hugepages Im not getting the hasrate I was expecting based on the entries on monerobenchmarks.info.

Based on what it says there I was expecting in excess of 15kHs however Im only averaging 10.5kHs. The machine currently isnt doing anything other than mining, and Ive experimented with different numbers of threads and found 24 or 26 to be optimal, above or below that the rate drops. The system has 16GB DDR4 3200 RAM and XMRig indicates its using around 3.5GB.

One thing I have noticed the CPU seems to be running at 3.7GHz and I cannot get it to go above this. I dont know how much of an impact this would have. Its an Asus B450 board so if anyone can guide me as to how to configure the BIOS to speed up the CPU Id appreicate it as every setting ive tried in there has made no difference.

You need a good memory and cooling for 3950x, if not then don't bother mining with it, 3800 cl16 is a good start and at least 360 radiator with good static air fans. Also most asus b450 are crap, you will need a better motherboard with a good vrm. Mining with a cpu like that is expensive, reason you needa good setup for it, even a 3600 you would need a good memory but cooling and motherboard could be a mid range. 3950x needs all those parts to be high end and that increases a lot the end price, reason people dont bother mining with the 3950x. Also clock speed is not that much valuable with 3950x, lower the vcore and work with 3.4ghz, would be better suitable.

or 1.01. volt  and 3.0 ghz

it will be easy to cool and still pass 11000 hash

did you set large pages?

and did you

ryzen master software

it will let you clock the cpu.

what is your cooler?

My 3900x does 13.5 easy with 3600 memory on a b450 board.  Running 23 threads.
4100 at just over 1.1 v.  Nice and cool.  Under 80 at all times.
Very small oc

check the timings of your memories it has to be 14 and Samsung memory b-die to obtain high hashrate

In terms for motherboard - i would go with MSI brand, they have very neat, 2 buttons that do light over clock for you. All you do is press button (its in bios) and reboot, check stability and if it works you are all good. No need to know all backend tricks with clocks, voltages or timings. For example <200$ x570 MPG GAMING PLUS is not expensive and performs good. The good memory is a must. You can even use standard 2133 or 2400 (SPD) "green" sticks and you will get 13khs on 3900x. I tried it with stock wraith cooler and i think its a bit small for everclocking as cpu gets to 80'c range...you can get COOLER MASTER like this https://www.newegg.com/cooler-master-hyper-212-evo-rr-212e-20pk-r2/p/N82E16835103099 its 35$ and works better then original wraith cooler. Just add rpm's or second fan and you are good to go. But anything like NOCTUA or equal or watercooler with 3 fans (360mm) will be the best.

Tried it on various boards, including same setup as 3900x. Observations:
5900x - consumes less power (10-15W), Runs cooler (about 8-11'C) gives same or just a bit higher hash rate in my case biggest difference was 350H/s Funny thing is - it does better on cheaper boards, lol. Conclusion - not worth upgrade.

I needed to build two more AMD desktops for my clients and went to a local store to pickup components...craziness!
They used to have 3900x with coolers (retail packaging) for 400$ just a couple days ago, now they are 550$+tax(thats all they had, not even low end 3xxx), absolutely no 5xxx series, not even low end...no video cards AT ALL, some SSD's are also emptied... daam!

On your system, RAM is the bottleneck
3950x can run 17K+ 3.8G

DDR4 3600 RAM will push much better hashrates
tight RAM timings are also important.

the best memory is B-die/C9BKV

I tested it with 4000Mhz ram (oc) - no significant difference vs 3200Mhz(OC) what matters is TOTAL RAM, if speaking in general, even though its not fully used at all (ram utilized at approx 15-20%)

3950X does a bit better vs 3900 16700hs approx - same with ram, not much difference between 3200/4000
