Based on simplemachines.org, we are the largest smf forum with a huge difference. Here are the 5 most popular smf forums based on post count. Except bitcointalk's, the other statistics may be little outdated.

NamePostsTopicsMembers
Bitcointalk55,577,3171,269,8632,866,733
Red and White Kop16,195,158176,27943,759
Elliquiy Adult Role Playing16,024,878263,18246,036
Burek12,577,406671,7685,007,475
Hogville10,869,048423,47424,832

It surprises me, though, that Burek has 5 million members, which surpasses bitcointalk with big difference.

Transactions must be included in a block to be properly completed. When you send a transaction, it is broadcast to miners. Miners can then optionally include it in their next blocks. Miners will be more inclined to include your transaction if it has a higher transaction fee.

Based on simplemachines.org, we are the largest smf forum with a huge difference.
And we're the only one that is using an outdated version of SMF amongst the current top five [except for Burek, not sure which one it uses].

It surprises me, though, that Burek has 5 million members, which surpasses bitcointalk with big difference.
It could be lots of bots [same goes for us, pretty sure that's the case].

At first glance, this forum is pure entertainment in nature. As it is customary to say "about everything and nothing."
That is why there is such a large audience. I think we are lucky that people with more serious interests come to our forum. And I am sure that many are not saddened by the old version of SMF, as this does not prevent from remaining one of the most popular Bitcoin forums.

If youre relating to the forum (Bitcointalk) i would have agreed cause we have a situation where by some users have multiple accounts especially the bounty spammers but Burek could positively have the 5 million users wroted cause it supported adult videos and statistics shows that Billions of people visit adult site everyday.

Bitcointalk will likely always be the most successful Bitcoin related forum, however its still quite impressive due to the fact that Bitcoin, and cryptocurrency is general is still very much a niche. Only certain individuals are attracted by the currency, and almost everyone in the world, or at least a large portion are attracted to the other things some of these forums host. Especially, considering their topics are one of the biggest in the world. Although, its worth noting that these forums above probably aren't the biggest within their industry by quite a margin, and Bitcointalk is.

SMF, although in my opinion is one of the better forum softwares is lacking that modern approach that competitors are taking. I'm seeing increasing amounts of online discussion sites use "Discourse", which I'll be honest I quite like the design of, ease of modification, and an active development community behind it too. Although, even that forum software has some nuisances, and just unnecessary features that ends up cluttering the interface.

Why I'm not surprised about these numbers? Smiley And I'm the only one who hear names of these forums for the first time?
I haven't checked content of other forums, but it looks interesting that 16 million or 10 million posts were made just by 46k or 24k members.
55.5 million posts, it's such huge number, but it would be interesting what number would be without signature campaigns Cheesy?
Also, 2.8 million registered users doesn't reflect reality. There is so many users who haven't made even single post, most likely they are bots. I don't know real numbers, but if we exclude such users, number of users would be somewhere about 1 million. Offcourse, other forums also have bots, but not such huge rate.
Also, I think this list is missing some big forums. For example 4pda.ru with 790k users and 85 million posts.

No. There's at least two of us. And TBH this thread sounds a bit like "we are the most popular group of people still using rotary telephones"... not exactly something to be particularly proud of Smiley

Make that 3.

I can't even access two of those forums, its hecking blocked by ISP lol. Also SMF is so fuckin old, it doesn't even matter if we are the most active(most of them are bots so pls). Like suchmoon said, this ain't something to be proud of at all? Its cool to think about for 1 second, after that fuck cares.

Glad to see that our volume of shitposts can even exceed the aggregate posting of an adult role-playing forum. If we're able to outdo that kind of sweaty traffic just imagine how many brilliant posts are created every single day.

Isn't that obvious to you? This is like the only forum where accounts are sold at such high prices and have a monetary value unlike the other forums in that list. Also, shills, scam accounts, account farmers, rebels, shitcoin junkies happen to the forum on a large scale. Not surprised.

Also, I find BitcoinTalk to be the most usable compared to others.

That exactly. This forum isn't just a "bitcoin talk". After all these geniuses' discussions, this place was transformed into an active marketplace. The enthusiasm, that bitcoin created with the way it works, combined with the fact that you can transform your ideas/queries into posts and get paid for submitting them was making it a matter of time to become #1 in the list.

it's such huge number, but it would be interesting what number would be without signature campaigns Cheesy?
It would be nice to see how bitcointalk would look without the marketplace section. Just discussions about bitcoin. I don't know if it would surpass 30M posts. I doubt. Tongue

Also, I think this list is missing some big forums. For example 4pda.ru with 790k users and 85 million posts.
Bitcointalk is the most popular smf forum. Of course there are forums bigger than that, but they're not created using the smf forum script. Another example is warrior forum.

I find it sad that we have a lot of activity because a lot of scams and cons are springing every minute in the forum trying to con people in the forum. I hope that someday that will change for the better where there is no scams in sight or if that is not achievable then maybe the frequency is alleviated. I believe that we are on the latter because scambusting has incentives like merits and more members trust you. I do agree that it is a useful forum because there is a direct involvement in finances.

Based on https://www.forumrankings.net/ data, Bitcointalk also standing in the top eleven Global Ranked Forums now.

In 28 December 2019, I was checking this forum still standing on 12th

And still standing in 2nd on that date.

Good to see this forum followed Bitcoin price and dumped Kanye West also.

Nope, I'd also say that the majority of users haven't because they are in completely different categories. Going by the comments, some of these forums are adult orientated, which you would expect to have more viewers than that of a forum that mainly concentrates of Bitcoin. These websites included certainly aren't anymore near the leading candidates within their industry though, where Bitcointalk obviously is. That's not a massive achievement when considering the scope of the adult industry, and that of the Bitcoin scene.

Based on https://www.forumrankings.net/ data, Bitcointalk also standing in the top eleven Global Ranked Forums now.
And, I still only know about two of those websites within the top leaderboard, and only one more in the SMF run forums, excluding Bitcointalk. Maybe, I'm out of touch?

Am not surprised by the high number of members but I like to know the source and date of this data, maybe compare to traffic. My interest is in the traffic of the forum into the bull market, rate of increase. We are likely to add more than 500k next 1 year and what will be the significance and influence on the cryptocurrency space. Can the forum cope with the increased numbers as well? will startups enjoy the benefit from the numbers of member and service the forum also offer?

Forums are usually very niche specific. If you didn't know/care about cryptocurrencies, you probably wouldn't know this forum. If you are not an Android developer or enthusiastic, there is no reason to know XDA. Nothing weird about it.

Also, I think this list is missing some big forums. For example 4pda.ru with 790k users and 85 million posts.
Bitcointalk is the most popular smf forum. Of course there are forums bigger than that, but they're not created using the smf forum script. Another example is warrior forum.
I understand it, but forum that I mentioned above actually runs on SMF, but its not lidted there. Probably there is some more big forums missing.

@DroomieChikito, interesting stats. Kanye West forum is second biggest SMF forum, they must be kidding Cheesy. 23 million posts, wow!

If youre relating to the forum (Bitcointalk) i would have agreed cause we have a situation where by some users have multiple accounts especially the bounty spammers but Burek could positively have the 5 million users wroted cause it supported adult videos and statistics shows that Billions of people visit adult site everyday.

Well Burek was created back in 2002 (only based on their copyright claims at the bottom of their platform) so there's no doubt why it was much famous (in some countries) than the Bitcointalk and its front end seems still to be nostalgic and 2000 themed like. If it would be created in 2009 (Which this forum started), then it might not be surpassing the forum's overall accounts made.

Also, keep in mind that the discrepancy of the post count and thread count was too huge. Bitcointalk has more active audiences despite of it having only approx half of the Burek's number of users.

And, I still only know about two of those websites within the top leaderboard, and only one more in the SMF run forums, excluding Bitcointalk. Maybe, I'm out of touch?
Forums are usually very niche specific. If you didn't know/care about cryptocurrencies, you probably wouldn't know this forum. If you are not an Android developer or enthusiastic, there is no reason to know XDA. Nothing weird about it.

Indeed. Even I myself only knows XDA and this forum (even shocked that Kanye west has his own forum lol), yet I felt much better that I've registered here early than being on the other forums that doesn't even meet my interests.

Nice to see Bitcointalk at the top, even in such an old category.

As a member from the Balkan community, I am surprised I never came across the Burek forum. I found it extremely funny to see that name on the list. For those who don't know what Burek is, it is basically a baked pastry made with mixed meat. It can also be with cheese, potatoes, etc.

Something like this  Shocked

The forum though seems to be about a little bit of everything besides burek and food. Grin
