I think the US Government owns more Bitcoin than most already from their seizures of illegal activity. The US Government said they seized BTC70,000 from the Silk Road operation alone. That equals over $1.26b...yes, BILLION...in USD equivalent by today's price.

US Government and Bitcoin.

They've been doing quite well these last few months...i wonder if the appreciation on their bitcoin holdings will be used to fund much needed social projects within the States, such as fixing;

  • Providing business and personal support as we continue to fight through this pandemic
  • Paying down National debt
  • Funding programs to reduce instances of homelessness and hunger

OR will it be used to fund black ops initiatives where spending decisions are classified and accountability is guaranteed with political payoffs and careers of secrecy?

I'm sure they'll do the right thing.  Wink

and in any event, they'd be sellers in the market...not buyers.

So who they sell?
Only option could be the dark web... Thats only who can take that kind of funds.
To sell big chunck of asset you need to find equal partner for this.

More likely they are buyer not seller.
Sellers gets USDT.

Seized coins are usually being auctioned. The US government selling Bitcoin on the dark web is the shadiest thing they could do - and would make their arguments against Tor/Bitcoin/privacy worth nothing. They're worth nothing anyway, but talking crap about dark web markets only to sell something on them afterwards makes no sense.

At the time of writing this post, it is not less likely to sell a "stained" coin than it is to sell a non-stained one.. unless it comes straight from a coinjoin/whirlpool/mixer. But in the far future, it seems like it's likely stained coins will be less worth than "virgin" ones (coming straight from mining).

It's a joke and you should try it first and sell your bitcoins to them at any price that you want. Let's see if they are willing to buy that from you with the price you're asking them, a high price.

More likely they are buyer not seller.
They are also sellers.

Us treasury can print enough dollars to buy all the bitcoins in the world, but will you sell knowing they want to buy it from you? Also, crazy printing of USD also means crazy printing of EUR and the rest because keeping up with the trend is important for them. When the US started printing earlier this year the EU central bank did the same.

By the way, does a double negative form a positive?  Roll Eyes

Each and every seized bitcoin will be under the control of the American government. Through this itself America holds a big volume of bitcoin in its treasury. The government is much aware of the bitcoin and its growth. More countries have engaged into indirect holding of large volume of funds in bitcoin, maybe the direct involvement will affect their governance model.

These individuals don't support BTC on the front but are heavily invested behind the scenes.
