Anyone knows if Ledger wallet is having paid promotion and shillers in Bitcointalk forum?

I don't have anything against paid promotions, but it would be nice to disclose this information and members who are running campaign for them, and payment terms, like for any other campaign in forum.

I sent email directly to Ledger to find more information about this, and I will update this topic when I receive reply from them.

I have not seen any paid campaigns for ledger wallet in this forum before today But just found two results by quick google search. But it was far away back around 2014 and who run the contest is now inactive since 2017.

I kinda doubt it. They are one of the two most recommended hardware wallet makers so they don't really need more advertising. They also pay for affiliate links, but I didn't see many here (but I didn't also check specifically for that).

Although their (wallet) software is bad, although their shop software was hacked, although they could have been fixing some vulnerabilities faster, although they prefer to add support for whatever unknown altcoins instead of making a better wallet for the newbies, ... the actual hardware works good. So for example a Ledger customer who is using a Nano with Electrum (my case) is content and will probably tell this forward (more probably than advertising a HW I've never seen in my life). Of course I also advise to keep on HW only current expense funds.

However, I am curious of what will they reply (if ever). Maybe I'm wrong...

PS. @sujonali1819 I think that OP is asking about current (2020) promotions; 2014 was too long ago.

Have you seen anyone promoting them here? Is it in a form of signature?I also wonder this cause before I saw some users wearing it and also look in the campaign somewhere but didn't found any. Likely those guys are probably wearing it for their own support. But the chance of being paid as promotions is also possible.

But can I ask if ever the campaign held outside the forum and in private negotiation, is it a violation to a rule here? I think if they don't want to disclose it or tell it then we can't insist them and push to say it.

Anyone knows if Ledger wallet is having paid promotion and shillers in Bitcointalk forum?

Ledger has various tools in his affiliate program, one of which is the signature code that I saw several times on the forum with some users - but they promoted their ref links and it is not part of any officially paid campaign. Considering that everyone who regularly visits Development & Technical Discussion is aware of your obsession that there is some kind of Ledger gang on this forum, I'm not at all surprised that you ask this question.

I would agree with the post from NeuroticFish, and despite the fact that Ledger has pretty much damaged its reputation due to the case of hacking its database, that Ledger Live is not an ideal user interface, and that like everyone else has poor user support - the only thing that matters to me is the security of the hardware wallet itself.

As for those suspected of shilling, I'm sure he means the members who post in this thread - Ledger Black Friday Promo 2020 (https://archive.vn/d6ZSC)

As far as I know, they aren't running any paid campaign on the forum. I have remembered, at the beginning of this year I contact with Ledger team, and we had a conference call. Ee talked about the promotion on Bitcoin like banner ads and Signature campaign. Although they were interested to run promotions here and they continue communications for a few days but they disappear eventually. I realize they have already become popular, and they use Google advertisements sometimes. Comparing with other advertising platforms, forum advertising is quite costly. Most likely they exclude forums from promotional space. I can't recall but noticed someone wearing Ledger Signature. Most likely they are promoting affiliate links or somehow affiliated with the Ledger wallet.

Back in 2017/2018 I reached out to both Ledger and Trezor regarding Signature Campaigns they could run here at Bitcointalk. Ledger seemed interested but didn't understand the concept and asked me to run an affiliate campaign pretty much. Trezor wanted to give it a try and asked me what they could get for a $500/month campaign. That's it, neither of them were more interested than that and honestly I don't blame them.

Eh, I don't know about that.  Coca-Cola has been the #1 soft drink in the world for decades, and they still spend an enormous amount of money on advertising--and the same holds true for a lot of companies at the top of their game.  Word of mouth advertising is great for any business but I think Ledger might benefit from a little bit of traditional advertising.

OP, you're no dummy and I wouldn't expect stupid threads being created by you--but I don't understand why you're asking this question.  How many signature advertisements have you seen lately?  I've got sigs and avatars blocked, so I wouldn't know.  I've got the Services section on ignore, too, so I wouldn't have noticed it had Ledger started a campaign thread there.

As for those suspected of shilling, I'm sure he means the members who post in this thread - Ledger Black Friday Promo 2020 (https://archive.vn/d6ZSC)
I'll take a look at that thread, see if I see any shilling.

Edit (from that thread):
I would not waste a single dollar satoshi for ledger wallet, and they are probably going to end up like Keepkey soon, brick selling for $5 but nobody will use it anymore.
Ha ha, OK I didn't realize dkbit98 hated Ledger devices so much.  But as bad as you think they are, I don't think they are or ever will be as bad as that awful Keepkey.  I respect your opinion, though.

Do you have any reasons to think that Ledger are running shilling campaign here? I remember that you said that people are making Ledger cult here. Though, I haven't saw anyone saying that Ledger is 100% perfect wallet that everyone must have.
Personally, I haven't noticed such promotion. Yeah, some users (including me) have posted their Black Friday and other offers, but I doubt that anyone got paid for. They simply reposted their email newsletter message.
I think @sujonali1819 and @Hhampuz posts very well shows Ledger interest in this forum.
Seems that you're very "passionate" about Ledger. So, not serious question for you - maybe you're getting paid to post negative stuff about Ledger? Just kidding Cheesy.

I kinda doubt it. They are one of the two most recommended hardware wallet makers so they don't really need more advertising. They also pay for affiliate links, but I didn't see many here (but I didn't also check specifically for that).
I don't agree about it. Everyone knows Coca Cola, but they still spend millions for advertising. While crypto is more specific thing. Many newbies start to use Bitcoin each day, and they are potential buyers of hardware wallets. So, I'm actulaly surprised that Ledger don't use Bitcointalk for communication and advertising.

As I wrote, here on Bitcointalk they get plenty of free advertising from actual owners, so there's not much of a reason to invest money in that. Of course, it would be nice to see Trezor, Ledger and others' banners in signatures, but that would mean more that they respect the community and give something back, not so much increasing awareness and such, so it may not be so useful economically. And I would really not compare Ledger with Coca Cola (ants vs giants).
Of course, that's my opinion and it's normal to also exist people with different opinions; no biggie.
