Who knows but I would prefer investing in ETH than XRP as XRP is kind of centralize. Moreover, ETH has version 2 there which can be more utilizing on its blockchain and the price may pump significantly once mass people uses the staking (as it will require ETH to be held).

Yesterday i was in a discussion about how Avalanche can be the Ethereum killer. Today it's a comparaison between eth and xrp. When prices increase, people start comparaison.
For ethereum; i expect the price to get another ATH since 2017 by the release of Eth 2.0. In the other side, Ripple seems to keep running in stability and the rice will have a lot of corrections back to normal.

I think this comparison can become very interesting after 20th december but to be honest i think ethereum will close the year around 1k mark and xrp would be around $1 so it would be easier to calculate the exact roi by then but im hopefulthat most of the top coins will be ending this year on a high note.

As 2020 is almost over it was better to compare these for next year that is 2021, yes there is always chance of big bullish december but i think the chance of new all.time highs for eth in 2020 are very thin now though i still think that eth will grow nicely but i think real parabolic run will come few months later.

ETH obviously. Of all the tokens, XRP is the most hated coin by users in crypto and it's because it's centralized. The team also owned billions of the token which were released to them already years ago. There may be XRP pumps and people rush to invest to it but it could be just for the profit. You are absolutely right. Comparing XPR with ETH is baseless. The two coins are different and trying to do well in their place. However, many crypto users do not like xrp, but there are many reasons why they do not. XPR can be compared to some other pump and dump shitcoin whose team's job is to dump their hold coins to investors. So I don't see any reason to compare XPR with ETH.

If i have to pick between ETH and XRP i would choose ETH because of the hyped upgrade and we might see them touching its all time high valuation and it depends upon your budget, if you are having a good budget then i would invest in ETH and considering the amount of increase in XRP in the past few months i would not risk in investing as i am not sure how long it can rally but i am certain that ETH could rally and might touch its all time high valuation.

No one can tell which one, between XRP or ETH, will have a very high increase in 2020.  No one can precisely predict the future of each market but I am leaning on ETH to have a higher price increase because they have bigger community and lots of project running on its blockchain.  Aside from that, many cryptocurrency enthusiasts doesn't like the image of XRP being centralized.
