1) Old bitcoin holders.  These are the people who mined Bitcoin from 2010 to 2016.

Bitcoin addressee are used for making transactions, the addresses can be tracked but it can not be linked to he owners if the owners are making use of bitcoin as a privacy coin without making use of custodial and kyc means for dealing with bitcoin. People like to be private when dealing with bitcoin, so you can not link many bitcoin address to their owner as they are pseudonymous.

If you are talking about bitcoin addresses that accumulated the coins when mining was not a big deal then it is true, but now if you are spending huge amount of money then you need to verify your documents and there will be a procedure to invest huge amounts and all of those investment comes through banking transaction and hence everything is transparent.

In this interview as far as I can recall Micheal Saylor of Microstrategy said that he personally invested in BTC. He basically mean ha has Bitcoin in his personal wallet not just for Microstrategy but also he has in his wallet himself.

It actually make sense to invest in BTC for his own as well. He risked his company into BTC and goes all in including his personal money to invest in BTC. I'm not sure if you could consider Micheal Saylor as elite but he definitely is rich.

 Why you need to know those person? I think it's difficult to identify those rich person who are investing in bitcoin if they choose to hide their identity. What if they didn't really invest too much in bitcoin but they open publicly and said that they invest million or billion $ in bitcoin, do you believe them? Also tracing a wallet address that contain a big amount of bitcoin is not enough to know if who is the holder if they put their identity in private when dealing with bitcoin.

No one can tell exactly about big or rich people that use bitcoin but its quite understanding that bitcoin majority of prominent people in society actually using it, as business man or woman that know what is obtainable concerning business, I think its advisable to adopt cryptocurrency especially bitcoin and adventure into its investment or transactions for multiplication or avoiding of disvalue of currency in business, it obvious that billionaires don't feel reluctant in terms of investment, shall no one can tell how many of them are into  crypto network but is nice to invest in crypto.

My old belief was: the rich elite who invested in Bitcoin actually don't even own it. This is from the corporate types I know who've got big pensions waiting for them even 20 years away from retirement.

The "Bitcoin" they own resides in some custodial service that probably doesn't even have on-chain wallets. Think of Paypal right now.

But I'll admit. I now know a handful who've actually gone and bought it proper. Not directly P2P god forbid, but through brokers and OTC.

I don't think Bitcoin is owned by one particular person. Bitcoin belongs to all of us, rich or not very rich. Owning Bitcoin is about both a hobby and an investment.
although there is no denying that many wealthy people and companies own bitcoin. therefore I hope that wealthy investors should be given maximum limits in owning bitcoin.

I doubt anyone of a public figure is going to announce that they are investing in bitcoin or any crypto currencies. At least those who would like to keep their financial matters private. Even if they do, they won't announce how much they are investing. So your rich elite person due to lack of attention might invest only like 100 bucks and say that he invested in bitcoin.

Many of them are open about their investment. You can google "bitcoin millionaires" and you'll get your answer.

Also note that there's a difference between people who have millions thanks to Bitcoin like Roger Ver, people who were rich and multiplied their fortunes with Bitcoin like the W. twins and people who were very rich and recently became interested in Bitcoin.

Also, Bill Gates seems to hate bitcoin.

There are actually lots of rich people or even celebrities that are really going or investing their money into cryptocurrency. Also, there are rich investors that are putting their money on cryptocurrency and making more profit. It is either they are supporting a particular project or just buying a token to hold. But there are some rich people or celebrities that are putting their name on the team of that particular project, for good strategy of promoting their project.

The names expected by the OP isn't the rich, but those were billionaires. It won't be revealed that easy, soon we can expect more personalities.
