Is there any chance that we can find a place like Africa or island in pacific ocean to make bitcoin a totally legal currency?no shit from government.

I really don't know if you are aware that, Japan is set to begin recognizing bitcoin as a legal method of payment starting tomorrow., this news is April 2017, or Bitcoin To Become ‘Just Like Money’ In Australia July 1 - July of 2017.

Interestingly, not enough movement has happened neither on Japan's side nor on Australia side. I suppose these things do just take time, and the pandemic made every government think of the immediate threat rather than a more distant but inevitable future.

this reminds me of a place inside a country where they do the same thing .

hire officials to make thier own government and bank to run thier own created currency and they are miles away from the governmemt but few people find them as a bad example because their currency wasnt official and said to be a scam but bitcoin was different because bitcoin wasnt a scam and it was already approved for use on most places .

if btc is illegal that will be hard because they will hunt you down

In my opinion, Bitcoin does not need an isolated land or a remote island, but rather it needs to be global. It is true that no country in the world has accepted Bitcoin officially and legally, but I am sure that there will come a day in the near future where all countries of the world accept Bitcoin legally and it becomes a reality. , The countries of the world cannot continue to ignore the power of Bitcoin and its penetration into people's daily lives, it is better for these countries to accept legally rather than to impose on them.

Remove the Government and we wouldn't have problems now, would we? Kidding aside, Bitcoin, in general, isn't really a controllable asset, countries may ban it as they like but they can't stop people from using it, especially with how it doesn't even give a peep of who you are (as long as you don't give away your info like an idiot that is). Give it some time, countries would give up sooner or later in banning it since they're just basically wasting their effort in trying to do so.

And on that note, we don't really need an island, nor do we need countries to acknowledge Bitcoin is legal. It exists because it exists, that's basically it. It's inevitable, just like how arguing with a rock would produce nothing.
Of course, I would like to look at a similar experiment, where people would live in some separate territory without government and without traditional currencies, using only cryptocurrency.  I am absolutely sure that such a union of people in peace and harmony would not last long.  The nature of man is such that with such a form of organization of society, internal contradictions would quickly appear, the strong would dominate over the weak and everything would be the same - gangs, wars, bloodshed, and as a defense against all this, unification into a state.  On the other hand, how would the price of a cryptocurrency be determined if there were no traditional currencies and there was nothing to compare its value with?

You can't just obtain a peace of land or even an aquatic territory, proclaim a state and expect other states to recognize you. And without recognition all your laws would be pretty useless. Yes, maybe Bitcoin will be de-facto a currency in your territory, but you can achieve this even in existing juristictions. When you are asking for it to be a legal currency, you need to establish a legal government first, and the only way to do so is to be recognized by at least some of the existing states, and preferably the influential ones.

It will be difficult to be honest, we can't do this on a country or nation scale. This idea in my opinion is a experimental economy. Like how they are creating Special Economic Zone where they practice these kinds of ideas like Universal Basic Income. It should pass in test phase to see its viability but right now, I think the chances is still slim to none.
Maybe someday if you win as president in your country that will create that kind of special zone where people use all bitcoin, It is true that the chances this kind of situation is really hard to go thru however if there are some senators who have courage to introduce bitcoin maybe there's a place for bitcoin that will accept into their country as a main method method to, not on phase testing but for real one. So people will knew the real benefits of bitcoin it self.

1. Principality of Sealand
2. Kailasha
3. Filettino

Hihi, a floating platform the size of a basketball field, an island that is actually still owned by Ecuador s buying land doesn't make it entirely yours, and a nation that didn't even become a nation. You could have added Liberland to the list, at least that one has a chance of being independent as nobody wants to have anything to do with that land which still might have a few landmines on it.

The whole thing of establishing a sovereign nation is a kid's dream, you're; unrecognized, any neighboring country can invade you and seize everything.
Besides, people are attracted to those projects to escape the governments and escape laws, you know what happened next, right? The powerful prey on the weak, and with no authority, it turns into the most dangerous place on earth, CHAZ is the perfect example, it started with vegetable gardens and ended with drug dealers shooting each other and the killing a 16 yo.

Of course, I would like to look at a similar experiment, where people would live in some separate territory without government and without traditional currencies, using only cryptocurrency.  I am absolutely sure that such a union of people in peace and harmony would not last long.

About two days, 6 beers, and a few Scooby Snacks, maybe even less.

Knowing that bitcoin can make out transactions globally as long you do have internet then it doesnt mean that it would need a place or an island that solely making use of it
because the entire community would able to make transactions in between them without any intervention from the government. They can regulate those platforms or service
that do attached with it but doesnt mean that it would really be on full control and thats what decentralization means and that should really be enough.
There's no need on finding an island or some sort because overall they cant stop the entire crypto community specially with Bitcoin.

A country that truly adopts bitcoin and the ideals that underlay it would attract a lot of people.

As some places have done with adopting favorable trust laws, a country that adopts a bunch of favorable bitcoin developer, investor laws etc will do well.  Perhaps an easier way is to convince a government somewhere of the benefits that would accrue if they were to do so.

The authoritarians (socialist, fascist, communist etc) will grouse about it being a "race to the bottom" but that is only true if one considers liberty or freedom the "bottom".  It is more a race toward the top - liberty.

There is no need to rush to find free land for Bitcoin, we only need to be patient so that Bitcoin can be accepted by all countries in the world.
Because it took time for the government to realize the importance of accepting Bitcoin legally, it may take a long process for the government
to legalize Bitcoin. We just enjoy the process, after all, we don't need to look for free land to be able to use Bitcoin. Even though the government
has banned Bitcoin, we can still use Bitcoin.

If you are an excentric rich guy you can buy a large piece of land or an island and *start* your own country.
Next you will need some close friendship with influent countries leaders to recognize your country towards the global community and to convince another countries to do the same. Also, don't forget you need to have citizens in your country, as just one man can can't compose a country properly. To make this you will need to make your country look attractive. Touristic appeal may be a good idea.

As far as I know, we know the entire earth and there is nothing to discover, right? But there are still some researches in north pole and in this area there are places where not even governments go for research. Okay, the joke is joke.
Theymos had a similar idea, to build a mostly-sovereign libertarian seastead with early bitcoiners since they were a new wealthy elite. He even chose the company - seasteading.org for that project but seems he wasn't that much seriously interested in it (but still interested). I think that thread may sound interesting for you, so I'll leave the link: We should build a seastead

it seems it will be difficult if there are still any regulations for bitcoin, maybe bitcoin will be more suitable for online transactions in my opinion. if it must be imposed on a country, it will lead to the pros and cons of various parties

Yeah, ready to...but since 2018 he has postponed the dates of the completion from 2023 to 2029.

I thought that it's already on the go, those news that we had about him for this year makes it interesting. But hey thanks, for that update. The article that you have given is more recent.

Bitcoin is really suitable for that particular thing you have mentioned. It's not difficult for us to use bitcoin if there are regulations. Honestly, we can't avoid it if the country we reside starts to take notice of bitcoin and sees interest on it through regulation.

Whenever you talk about the government agreeing with bitcoin, our fellow forum members will say it's impossible, so,  I want to also ask, what about the US where there are Bitcoin ATMs(if I'm not wrong). Is the US government against these ATMs? Was it illegally mounted or what?

I think that bitcoin may well become a legal currency primarily in small States (especially those that are limited to a single city), at least as an experiment. It is necessary to create conditions where both the state and its residents will receive a profit from using bitcoin and then legalization will not take long.

We've been waiting for a bitcoin free land for a long time. The truth is, you can't regulate bitcoin. It doesn't matter what the government does at the end of the day. Bitcoin is likely to be accepted by the people, but not by the government. This is the current situation of bitcoin.

I think it would only happen if some multimillionaire would buy an island and make it a private island for Bitcoin.
Even if that kind of island do exist not every Bitcoin enthusiast could go and live there.

It is very difficult to fully legalize bitcoin since there are many legislative nuances, and even more so, local authorities will try to build legislation in such a way as to make money on ordinary people, so unfortunately there is no place on earth where bitcoin could fully function

If you can convince a few stores owners in your locality to start accepting bitcoin then you can start using bitcoin for daily use. Here people are dreaming about starting their own legislation and for you to start using bitcoin you do not need such legalities until your current government turns against bitcoin, until then you can use them freely and most government will allow the use of bitcoin.
