The URL takes to a blank page on this http://cryptoforum.org/?zAnyway, are you aware that in the past there were a lot of crypto type forums wanted to run their site but they always failed. It's not easy to get attention from the community to a new forum unless you have anything special to offer. And by anything special, I am not meaning offering money but features that users will find impressive enough to hang out there. What is your initial plan? Is this going to be just another crypto forum or you have anything new to be added there. Edit: It takes too long to load the blank page from tor.

It would be nice if you have some thoughts to begin. Others can start from your idea and then suggest you anything that will be in their mind. I personally can not think of anything except to have a forum by the name of the domain of course.

It's much easier if you had already done the work on the forum and the ask for input and suggestion from members. This makes us know what exactly the intention of the forum you are building by checking it out before making suggestions. Suggesting random features from scratch is something very broad.

I wonder why you buy the domain in the first place. If you plan to create another general forum thread about crypto I think it would be hard to compete with the others. Why not try to look for ideas first before registering a new domain?
For example, I think a mempool viewer with (more or less) accurate fee prediction or advanced charting platform that can compete with Tradingview might be a good idea.

Before anything else, kindly answer the following things... - What is the real intention/aim behind acquiring that domain [according to NameCheap, it's a premium domain]?
- Which software you're planning to base it on?

My suggestion: Take a look around the Meta section, and take notes on what features people have been suggesting for Bitcointalk. Hopefully you're not planning on competing against Bitcointalk though, because if you are, best of luck(you're gonna need it).

All suggestion above was right, it's quite easy to buy or create a domain website but it's hard to build a community that they will stay and getting interested to engage discussion in your forum. My suggestions are very simple. - Easy to Navigate and well organize discussion thread
- Simple design will probably fine, what I mean too many colors might be too much
- Install SMF
Good luck with your plan.

Okay, when you want to start a business, you need a good domain name. Cryptoforum.org is really a good domain .com would be a better choice but since bitcointalk has an .org domain, it's logical. Well, we have a good domain, then what? Usually, website owners work on SEO to improve their ranking in search engines but in your case, this alone won't have a huge impact because you need to build a community. It's very hard to build community, what you do is like following: Imagine you want to build search engine and you need to get google's team on your side in order to succeed. You can't pick bitcointalk members, this is an established community that is almost impossible to beat, even satoshi was the member of this forum. You can't build a better one, sorry but that's true. Better to prioritize your resources and energy on another projects with a real aim.

I tend to agree with some of the comments above. I don't think that making a forum is worth it, it's going to be extremely difficult to compete with Bitcointalk or other forums.
I realize that the domain name may not be the best for such thing, but If I were you, I'd just make a tool that serve the crypto community somehow (a detailed crypto directory for instance).

If you are starting from zero with new crypto forum it will be hard for you to get any real traffic, and you can see all other crypto related forums. You would really need to offer something special to attract people there including protection from spammers. Think of adding something that is missing on bitcointalk forum, and maybe your forum can be extension of bitcointalk.

Well, upon checking cryptoforum.org it routed me to menu options and when I clicked each of those menus it routed me to a landing page of different websites but all are bitcoin and crypto-related sites. I don't see any forum but the home page is colorful that could entice people to visit it oftentimes. If I am mistaken or could probably be redirected to the wrong landing page then what I may suggest is similar to the others that could make the community interested not only in the special offers you can provide them but also in the topics or ideas which could make it remarkable for the readers. However, do of what suggested above because you are not the one who had planned to have a crypto forum, I remember before who had failed because not enough fund to sustain and immediately shutting down.

Why is everyone disagreeing with the idea of having that domain? It is a very good domain to own and has so much potential of course unless they're not creating to create another Bitcointalk.
@OP: You can maybe have a forum that offers tutorials for someone new getting into cryptos? Maybe a blog or something of that sort? The market is quite saturated on all that stuff but a unique idea can really put that domain to use.

Users and lots of them? There's nothing sadder than an empty forum and most start empty and remain that way. In this day and age forums are on their way out unless already established. People do Facebook groups and IM stuff like Telegram or Discord. I think it's an unfortunate development as all that info effectively vapourises. If I were starting one now I'd be looking to integrate features you see on social media like news feeds and price tickers would certainly tickle users. Anything extra to make it a little more than a blank page needing filling in.

I share the views of previous users that it is indeed quite hard to create another forum and make it big. We are not short of forums. Crypto-centered forums include this one, Altcointalk, Cryptotalk, Bitcoingarden, and so on. Aside from that, crypto fans could easily discuss about crypto-related topics in leading social media and discussion sites such as Reddit, Telegram, and so on. But, yeah, why not go for it as the crypto market is still fast expanding? I guess it would help if you have more specific sections which are not provided here. This idea is inspired by a recent post by BitcoinFX which was somehow seconded by mk4 in a recent thread where the OP is inquiring about "an active forum discussing anonymity and privacy." Having said this, I guess you could create much more focused discussions if sections are more specified. Let's say, you devote a specific section for trending topics such as DeFi or perhaps Yield Farming or derivate trading or the rising blockchain gaming using NFT tokens, and so forth. I guess it could attract highly specialized audience which might have found this and other existing forums not interesting enough. And finally, as much as I hate to say this, you shouldn't forget about incentives. I believe this forum is a lot lonelier, albeit more educational, serious, and cleaner, without paid signatures. Well, it depends on your goal.

Just wanted to add(because I'm a freakin nerd when it comes to SEO and these kinds of stuff): a .org domain would actually sometimes be better for an online forum; "org" is truncated from the word "organization" in the first place. Though it really depends on what kind of look and feel OP has for CryptoForum. Imo, .org's are better for the Bitcointalk-ish traditional style of forums, while .com's would be better for the "trying-to-be-different" sort of style of forums like Reddit and Quora. But really though, both could work and the advantages and disadvantages of a .com and .org forum wouldn't be THAT significant. It still boils down to management and if the forum actually takes off in the first place(because it's really difficult as fk to grow a forum on a decently established niche).

Great domain name but honestly I don't see much practical value. A lot of people prior have already tried to imitate bitcointalk and make a wider forum, but it has just never worked out from a commercial standpoint. Yobit even paid tens of BTC in advertising their Cryptotalk site and still failed. All in all, it'll be incredibly difficult for you to differentiate yourself from an already established forum of bitcointalk. I think that you have two paths that you can go by in terms of deciding what features will be included that will give you some chance of success: a) Paid posting, this will keep the forum at least alive but honestly will probably lead to more harm long term than good. b) Niche forum for a particular user group. For instance, for altcoin day traders. But even going down these routes will likely not be successful given the sheer dominance of bitcointalk.

Spell check would be a good start: And can you please make it super-friendly for bounty hunters. I think that would be a win-win. You'd get a lot of traffic, and Bitcointalk could get back to being more... bitcoiny. Or just sell the domain to Yobit, they seem to have money to burn on projects like that.
