Hi,
A little while back I impulse purchased a £1,0000 / ~$1400 gaming PC with a AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT 8GB graphics card and then remembered that I'm not a gamer.
So, while this PC has been great for watching Netflix its computing power is just going to waste. I live in the UK so my electricity costs probably aren't the cheapest but I was wondering if there was any way that I could put this PC to profitable use mining any altcoins?
Thanks
Specs below in case it helps:

With RX5500XT you will be earning 0.93$ per day mining Ethereum, as you can see it's a waste to time, though you will be spending 0.13$ cent on electricity but mining will only makes sense if you have 5 to 10 of these graphics card so I suggest you sell the gaming PC and spread the money on graphics card for mining or invest on altcoins

If you think earning less than $1 net per day 24/7 on it is good then by all means go ahead, you can mine monero with the 3600, will do around 6500 h/s 11 threads and with the 5500 can mine eth, will do around 28 mhs.

That's roughly 1215$ in USD, you bought the desktop for gaming and you end up noticing that gaming isn't for you, I get that but since you now have interest in mining coins for money why can't you sell the complete system and buy RX480 cards for mining? You will earn up to 8$ per day with 9 RX480 and you can get each cards at 100$ to 180$ on ebay, that's 240$ in a month, with 5 or 6 month you will have recovered the whole money

Things are different in the UK, everything you said does not apply in the UK, realistically your $9 per day would be $4. The same can be said if we compare china x US, in china people can get gpus cheaper, cheaper power too, like I said in another post, countries differ, so you have to see what is best for you, my recommendation is, keep your PC for gaming, do not bother mining with it. OP or anybody, read this article, this might help you https://medium.com/@coinfly/shortlist-of-the-main-mistakes-and-misconceptions-in-ethereum-mining-9955d80b54f7

It would have been better if OP gives info about the electricity costs in his country, in some countries mining with electricity is way too much, for example in my country I won't dare mine with electricity, I've better use solar panels and batteries, though this will cost lot more money and not advisable for those who don't have much, OP if you are fine with making 90cents to a dollar every 24hrs then proceed

https://www.nicehash.com/profitability-calculator/amd-cpu-ryzen-5-36000.5 dollar profit on Monero mining + 1 dollar profit on Ethereum mining. In 1000 days you may be able to recoup your hardware, but this is not certain. You can also mine Burst or Sia soin on your hard drive

It's going to take like forever to get your money back through mining 24/7, I suggest you should make up your mind right now since mining isn't the real reason you get this desktop computer for in the first place, how about selling back since it's a gamers PC you will sell at good rate and invest the money on good mining setup? You can buy some RX470 480 or 570 and 580 with the money and other parts like motherboard and power pack as well, you will make quick ROI this way

I heard that UK electricity bills are high, mining isn't fitting here mate, I think it's better to sell your gaming desktop if it doesn't serve any purpose to you anymore, you bought it for gaming and you aren't a gamer type, sell and invest in some good altcoins, this is less stressful than mining or you can look into staking too

for home mining even with a super-performing computer it is not worth the gain by removing the costs for energy and maintenance is very small you need to have at least 5 or 10 computers to be able to talk about a decent gain, but at this point it is convenient to bet on rigs
