The site bitcoin.com is a website was built by a scam team (Bitcoin Cash). They tried to scam investors by claiming they are real bitcoin. 3 years since 2017, they are still using the bitcoin.com domain to promote their scam Bitcoin Cash. If they are honestly and seriously with their project, they would move to a domain as bitcoincash.com.

I only found they have a tool to verify bitcoin message. Should I use their tool to verify bitcoin message? Are they set up any traps on their site and with that tool?

Til today, they are trying to replace Bitcoin by Bitcoin Cash. The main color is Green and it is for Bitcoin Cash, not for Bitcoin.

I am very surprised because I can not find a tool to verify Bitcoin Cash message on their website Huh

In the box for Bitcoin address * they put the grey message
Quote
Enter Bitcoin Cash (BCH) or Bitcoin (BTC) address

I hate to say my feeling but they are shady with their tool and their message, Bitcoin Cash is appeared first before Bitcoin.

You lose nothing, probably other than privacy. Electrum[1] also has a verify message feature though, you might want to use that instead if you're paranoid.

I think common sense tells you if you don't trust a site, you shouldn't use the site. There are plenty of different sites to validate your signed message. Coinb.in for example, which is well designed. You can't tell if a site is trustable because your browser is get the data from the server and the information can change at any point in time.

I would recommend you to just use your wallet's utility tool or download the coinb.in's github version.

I'm pretty sure the utility itself says Enter Bitcoin Cash or Bitcoin address.

This is just a tool so I do not think there is anything you need to be worried about if you are using it just to verify a message. You are not giving them your private key to do that. So you are safe.

About the domain name and the shameless way to use the name of bitcoin:
Roger Ver has no moral. This entire domain is a business for him. He wants new investors to make mistake and buy his BCH. There are number of claims around where users were complaining that they thought they were buying BTC but they bough BCH. It's just a business tactics for Ver with very low moral.

The sad part that we can not do anything about it since the domain bitcoin.com authority may not consider it as scam. I am not sure if anyone can file a lawsuit against it though.

They disagreed with what Bitcoin did in the past. Why would they move their site off the domain? They ain't stupid.
No they ain't stupid but it's not about being stupid it's about practising right thing, being in the right mind. In Ver's mind his BCH is Bitcoin, so obviously he is still is not in his right mind LOL

Be happy be at peace. Looking forward to BTC at $1M

The real question is "don't you have any other (better) option like your desktop wallet?".

If you have a bitcoin address then you must have a bitcoin wallet too, and bitcoin wallets usually have the option to sign and verify messages. Use that instead.
If your wallet doesn't have that option then maybe it is time to switch to a better wallet that has various options such as Electrum for your desktop as @mk4 also suggested.

Or you can used this this tool to verify message,

https://brainwalletx.github.io/#verify

And I do agree that Roger Ver and his cohorts, they are just trying to catch those newbies in thinking that they got bitcoin (BTC) but in the end its BCH, very malicious and shady attempts to scam a lot of beginners.

since 2017 it was already expected that BCH would be a big failure, but even so some people were blinded by greed and the dictatorship spoke louder and proceeded with a project that was destined for failure, at least I say failure if compared to bitcoin . But as bitcoin continues to attract attention they will remain in the shadow of bitcoin to secure attention for BCH. just pretend that you’ve never seen certain things on this site and focus on the things you’re looking for on the site (if you have anything that interests you on that site)

Nothing to worry about with their tool aside from getting your Ip address for ver's website and with their partnered websites such as moonpay.io when visiting the site. You can check it with a GET request when you open the network monitor tab of your browser.

Any sort of web tool is inherently less trustworthy than a software that you run on your computer, because every single time you load a webpage, you might get a different version of a program. Maybe today their message verification is legit, but tomorrow it won't be, maybe they can selectively serve a modified version of this program to certain users, and so on - there are many negative possibilities. If you don't trust the site owners, then you shouldn't trust anything on their site, because they are in total control of it.

There's a ton of ways to verify a Bitcoin message, like wallets or other sites, there's no reason to give more traffic to Roger Ver, even if this tool is indeed legit.

I have a question for you.
Would you continue to trust anyone who decided to bluntly lie to you?

The fact that they claim that Bitcoin Cash is the real bitcoin while at the same time saying that BTCitcoin is bitcoin core is a pretty scam-like and untrustworthy behavior. I would personally never use anything associated with BCH, from their news site, forum, wallets to a signature verification tool.

Bitcoin.com as the name suggests will be custodial services that this type of company will be providing. I have also truly heard of many people commenting they are representing bitcoin cash in such a wallet you will think it is bitcoin. This kind of a site should not be used both for beginners and experts as they have some ways they make people to think what is false to be truly. I can not suggest this type of site for anyone because it is not recommendable and truthworthy because of their misinterpretations.

There are a lot of better alternatives with Bitcoin.com and it's verified message for Bitcoin, some alternatives are open-sourced project especially the https://brainwalletx.github.io/. There are also some Bitcoin wallets that already have verify message for Bitcoin feature, just like Trezor, Coinomi, Electrum, etc.
You may get the same output if you use Bitcoin.com and other alternatives, but if you will consider Bitcoin.com's Bitcoin Cash drama, then you may boycott or avoid using Bitcoin.com's products.

Thank you for your answers and discussions. I knew that I can verify bitcoin signed message with bitcoin wallets. I used Electrum because it is light and fast for synchronisation. Bitcoin Core can not run well on my computer. I see people use some online websites or tools to verify message (brainwalletx is commonly used in the Stake your message here topic).

How to sign a message?!. Shorena guided sign and verify message.
Verify Segwit message:
- How to verify SegWit signature with Brainwallet ?

I opened this topic to ask information on the Bitcoin.com, only about it. With your discussion, it is best if I don't use verify tool on Bitcoin(cash).com
