I have to say first of all that, for me, the Gambling Section is the lowest quality one. Some people say it's the Bitcoin Discussion one but in my opinion the Gambling Section is worse because most people write there just because they get paid extra or have minimun requirements of their signature campaigns.

In the Bitcoin Discussion one you get more shitposting from people who don't know much about bitcoin or cryptos and don't care either but they want to get merits and activity so they can join signature campaigns and make money.

Also, I'm not taking into account the alts section or the local ones which I never visit.

Anyway, I've just realised that a topic titled: "Good hand vs bad hand in poker" has been deleted. I'm not too surprised as I posted there and my comment hinted that most people writing in that thread weren't going to engage in actual discussion. I also commented on the levels of poker thinking and was merited for that (from a guy who I guess understands poker to a certain level).

The thread went on like a "What was first the egg or the chiken?" one, so some people were saying good hand, others bad hand mostly in a pointless way, like: "I don't know much about poker but I think..."

But the thing is, shouldn't many threads on that forum be deleted? I'm not talking about threads like the UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread New

I know moderators delete threads when they are reported and I don't if they also do on their own initiative.

What has come to my mind is that if a hard line of action on that board was taken, wouldn't the casinos that announce themselves in the forum and that run signature campaigns complain? I've always thought maybe moderators were more lenient in that board because of that.

So, I'd like to ask if there are any specific criteria to delete topics and not lock them for example. I know that as creator of a thread one can lock the thread and I've done so in the past but I suppose moderators can too.

Half of the threads in there should be locked or trashed.

So, I'd like to ask if there are any specific criteria to delete topics and not lock them for example. I know that as creator of a thread one can lock the thread and I've done so in the past but I suppose moderators can too.

There is no specific criteria, but if a thread is especially worthless it could be trashed, but most would be locked, especially if there's at least somewhat half decent discussion taken place in there.

What has come to my mind is that if a hard line of action on that board was taken, wouldn't the casinos that announce themselves in the forum and that run signature campaigns complain? I've always thought maybe moderators were more lenient in that board because of that.

Campaigns complaining is irrelevant, but most probably don't want or intend people to post in those sorts of shit threads anyway but that's the consequence of asking or requiring users to post in the Gambling section and not doing too much about quality.

There are two section under the gambling section, the gambling section itself and the gambling discussion. Gambling section is not trash at all because you will find all the ANN threads of gambling there and people mostly discuss about the offers of the gambling site or provide feedback about them.
The problem is mostly in gambling discussion section and that could be solved too to some extend if the old mega threads are locked.

Wow shocked it actually got deleted. Iirc there were like 4 or 5 decent answers before I stopped reading, your was I believe the best as I dropped you a merit, it was funny. I used to report a ton of the posts in Bitcoin Discussion, and have a couple pf threads that were running in Gambling, and it's a toss up. Bitcoin discussion had a larger quantity of spammy redundant replies, and gambling replies are often just worse for quality but aren't as plentiful on a thread by thread basis.

Even the worst of them in Bitcoin discussion if they manage to go a few pages - unless a duplicate thread- only got locked not trashed.

The best way to deal with it is just to take up reporting low quality, redundant and repetitive posts.
