There is still some meaning. If PSG win, they can go through as group winners (rather than runners-up), which means they'd be seeded for the first knockout round, and so get an easier match by avoiding the other group winners. So PSG do have something to play for.

For betting purposes, yes, PSG look massive favourites. Perhaps the aftermath of last night's walk-off may have some sort of lingering psychological or emotional effects on the players, but I'd be surprised if it's enough to swing the tie in Istanbul's favour.

But if PSG were already certain to finish runners-up rather than winners no matter what the result, then it might indeed be different.

The stronger team could still win if it doesn't become complacent (as they already qualify for the next round) or if the team wasn't seriously affected by the remark.   < Those are some of the most important things I would research before placing my bet.

It wasn't directed at a player, it was directed at Istanbul's assistant coach. I was quite impressed that Istanbul left the pitch, and even more impressed that their opponents immediately showed solidarity by joining them in returning to the dressing room.
So because both sides left the pitch, and because it wasn't directed at a player, I don't think there will be any difference between how the two teams respond when they play tonight. In terms of results, I can't see anything other than a PSG win here. But the bigger win is for anti-racism.

There are likely more differences between nations than there are within nations. I'd imagine it's easier to co-ordinate all clubs within England than it is to co-ordinate all nations within Europe.
I'm not sure whether or not the official meant to cause any offence, but I suppose intent is not the problem here. It's clear that UEFA needs to do a better job with ensuring that the officials are all up to speed with what can and cannot be said.

There will be always some exceptions. The association cannot control the sayings of a referee in a game.
What the association can do right now is to take some measures and avoid this racism attack happen again in the future. The 4th referee should be banned and fined hard.
On the match part, I believe that PSG is going to take the win as this will help them capture the 1st position in the group stage and face an easier opponent in the next stage.

It shows how UEFA (Europe) is regularly educating their officials on acceptable language when officiating. All officials are not the same and they cant, the view on races is disperse but for whatever reason when it come the Job, abide by the rule. I expect UEFA to punish the official and probably disengage his service, intensify on the campaign on racism, pay the clubs involved like they would if it was any other club,players and also bear the cost of postponing the game.

I already took a small bet on them indeed,,, 0.1 MBTC but at Sportsbet boosted prematch yesterday it was not as high as the current odds, so if I win I miss about 0.4 mbtc as a prize.

Yes, PSG has indeed been confirmed to qualify, even I am sure when the three teams still have the same 9 points. Given this incident I'm not sure whether PSG will continue to aim for the win, or just simply end the game with a draw. I personally placed a bet yesterday, so today will just go on and no need to make a new bet, but that depends on your own but with the incidents at least I'm really not sure PSG will win with a high score, because my bet yesterday was PSG -2.5 @1.66 and I'm not sure about that.

But they are in control of the conduct their referees are to be using while on the pitch. Well simply because they are hired to do their job and not joke around acting like they are in the street with their pub friends. This language should not be tolerated one bit because since there were no crowds anybody can hear anything that is said.
And from what the video clips show and can be heard they are saying it in their foreign language which all referee's are to speak english during the matches so no misunderstanding is to happen, like it had with this match.

I think there is a big difference between saying the "n word" in a football match and using a different language, ref defended himself saying that "black person" means "negru" in Romanian which does sound eerily close enough to the n word in English but there wasn't any need for it neither. Webo basically countered it very smartly by saying "you do not say that white guy, why did you have to say that black guy?" and that makes sense.

I am sure ref didn't want to sound racist, his intentions weren't racist neither, he probably just had a laps in judgment and said the wrong thing and he should have apologized for it and let himself be changed from the VAR if he could, to make things easier. At least we all know game still goes on tonight, and that is going to be a proof to teams that if there is any racism in the field, you could just walk out.

In an international league like this, we cannot set aside racism and for some reason, it is always present but organizers and officials are doing it in a discreet manner I guess. For the 4th referee I am pretty sure that he was trained or at least was advised on this matter and I cannot say that it was an accident or have done it unconsciously.

Good thing that both teams reacted in a positive way that they just left the pitch to show solidarity and IMO the referee should really be banned and get fined for the damages that he has caused. It could be easily said that the team is fine but in reality, they were hurt emotionally.

After this incident, I am still positive that there will be no draw in the match and PSG will still take the lead for this is a league that every team would want to be on the top of.

Well, there's a lot of predictions has already been laid down.
This is a football league and no matter what happens each team will hold to their goal and that is to win and become a champion. If the referee made a mistake and both teams have already shown their unanimity then they still need to face the reality that one of them should take the lead and the other should be left behind. For this match no doubt PSG will win without hesitation because of the incident happened. It is our norms that every time we committed a mistake whether intentional or not we really explained our side and perhaps he won't be in his position if he wasn't trained and advised of what is and what is not to be done as a referee to an international league like this, make him bear the fruit of his actions.

The match went on with PSG battering their opposition 5-1.
Neymar scoring the first goal and Mbappe scoring the second. I had over 4.5 goals on a multi so that was nice of them to complete the match as the aggregate wouldn't have placed the goals so high as someone had mentioned it would of ended 3:0 for PSG if the match had been defaulted by the opposing team.

I am not surprised by the broad results of PSG. The difference in level is too great between both parties. On a very bad day from PSG and a very good day from Basaksehir, a stunt would be possible, but that will not happen soon. When you look at how much capital is in the field, that's ridiculously high.

ithis is the first that a match has been suspended for racism. in the past we have seen Balotelli in Italy have strong reaction kicking out the ball during a match. he get a red card and was sent out ... what happens yesterday has been something very rare in EU football. Good sign against the racism, but probably there wasn't any intention to be offensive by the Romanian 4° referee.

Yes, it's good that racism is being addressed appropriately, and good that both teams walked off. I agree it may be unlikely that the offical intended to be racist, but the fact that he did make a racist remark regardless of intent is still a problem, and one that needs to be addressed by both UEFA and the Romanian authorities. The officials need to all be in alignment on this, regardless of which country they are from.
