Is Polkadot going to Kill Ethereum?

There is no question that there is a possibility for any emerging blockchain tech to be and Ethereum killer but the question would be how huge is that possibility.  Polkadadot can possibly be a threat for Ethereum but I don't think that it is right now.  I think it will take sometimes and some condition where Polkadot will take over ETH,  If those condition is met then we can see it happen, if not, then there is no way polkadot will beat ETH.

i am prefer to said polkadot will be serious competitor  but it will not killing ethereum. if we look on how much project based on polkadot at this time its very small  although we know its still too early  .but if we look at interesting rate of polkadot platform , its still very far with ethereum if compared peer to peer. we could analize it , on how much new project that use eth or polkadot platform in market.

Polkadot project can be a worthy competitors to EOS and Neo but not Ethereum, Ethereum isn't the only old smart contract project standing so tall and most new smart contract projects haven't defeat those smart contract projects  under Ethereum like EOS, Stellar or Neo, let them accomplish that first

EOS, DOT and NEO were working on the same field. These platforms are almost impossible to compete with ethereum. So many innovations already made by those platforms but again they can't even attract the new developers to use the tokenizations there.

Eth is a branding in Cryptocurrency and the popularity can't be compared I agree polkadot is growing rapidly but it doesn't mean it will overtake Eth.

Without any doubt polkadot is a tremendous project with new features but now eth 2.0 will be the next hot topic in couple of days. When Eth was booming people were talking about it will overtake BTC, same applies now here, all people need is a safe and secure project I think polkadot would take years to level ETH.

We are just starting our own token sale. We chose Ethereum because the community is bigger than all the rest. This means that it is easier for developers to find solutions to their problems. I think it is very hard to overcome this dynamic. Also the scaling solutions are coming, like SKALE.network that will eliminate gas fees for users. That being said I do believe there is room for other players, that is also healthy for the overall market.

It's impossible for another smartcontract chain to kill it. This is only a shilling trick while we know that will never happen.
There are some dapps moving again to the ethereum as they can't get the demand from the DOT. It will be useless if you are using the new smartcontract platforms cuased by the hype and it will not have a long term prospect that can affects your platform.

That's it! then why these speculators been talking so impossible here, did they analyze briefly how come they'd able to come up on that certain idea? Well, of course many members of this project is now starting to roll over their mindset and basically a mindset build up has been established. who predicted it? although it is true that Polkadot becomes top 3 on coinmarketcap, but Polkadot will never overtake Ethereum which is in the top 2 on coinmarketcap, because rank 1 is Bitcoin and rank 2 is Ethereum, so until anytime this rank will be difficult to replace, although XRP once replaced Ethereum, but it's easy for Ethereum to return its position again (rank 2 on coinmarketcap), so I am sure that nothing will be able to beat or replace Ethereum and besides that for Polkadot to be able to replace or beat Ethereum and get into the top 3 on coinmarketcap, then Polkadot needs a very hard struggle, because there are 7 altcoin that Polkadot has to beat (Polkadot position is currently rank 10 on coinmarketcap).

we wait until the ethereum 2.0 network operates normally. if this new network still can't solve ethereum's scalability and high fee problems. maybe Polkadot has a chance to compete with ethereum. but to kill it will never be possible.

Polka dot is open-source and it's a very promising project. It's a still young gun, just a few days back listed on the CMC but within these days the value of this coin is growing exceptionally well. It can be a most important competitor but I don't think it can kill ETH through its policy and the technical side are more effective than Polkadot.

There were several good open source project like polkadot but it never had beaten the ethereum network. As far as I know it is the most used network out of others in using smart contracts. Now it in terms of rank it is second and I only saw it became third when XRP got all the way to 1 USD. Now there's no other coin who could've done that as XRP is falling recently.

You said it very rightly that it is not about superiority of Block chain, every Block chain has its own use case. Polka Dot and Ethereum, both are used to create smart contracts, it is true that Ethereum is very popular coin and it has very strong user base and most of alt coins including DEFis are using its network but it is facing issue of scalability and higher Gas/Transaction fees which is not being resolved despite launching of Ethereum 2.0. When we look at Polkadot it is using Multi chain network, that makes the network very fast and results in lower gas fees. It has made tremendous progress during 2020. Its price jumped from $2 to $ 11. 450% price increase in one year is very impressive and signifies its acceptance as alternative option for creating smart contracts.

There were many Ethereum killers but Ethereum is still alive. Polkadot will take its place on the crypto market because it's a good project but Ethereum also shows nice results in best developments.

Polkadot seems to be the golden boy of L1 for now but I am not rely buying into the hype thought is very promising but they first need to deliver on this promise first, if Polkadot succeed to be the first real threat to Ethereum expect the value from Ethereum to move to Polkadot

I had almost of same question but later after watching few videos, I understood that it will not be the ether killing coin. Even Gavin too said that Polkadot isn’t going to replace Ethereum. It's kind of sideway for ETH.

Yes. Polkadot is attracting investor interest. I don't think it's easy for a new project to get the best position, but Polkadot is able to do it. The price of DOT coins has increased very drastically, even beating the old coins. This is a success for the Polka project.
