I've just created this thread as a year-end, honouring the achievement of this fighters in this pandemic filled boxing match.

Fighter of the year candidate:

Teofimo Lopez - destroying Loma invincibility
Gervonta Davis - knocking out Leo Sta Cruz with that uppercut
Tyson Fury - winning the rematch against Wilder, and after that, a lot of drama
Alexander Povetkin - down in judges score card, but one uppercut changes the game

I voted for Lopez as fighter of the year, there was so much hype coming on this fight. Him and his father really trash talk the hell out of it, and even threaten to cancel the fight if they didn't get the money they wanted.

And then he proved that he can walk the talk, and majority of us here believes that Loma will school Lopez, but it didn't happen. Lopez dominated Loma from the first round and didn't get Loma a chance to take over in the latter rounds.

These are my cards and I really wanted to see Povetkin vs Whyte 2 because the fight was close and I nominated it to get the Knock-out of the year award.

I voted for Teofimo Lopez he is the boxer to watch out for greatness now, I always thought that Lomachecnko is one hard boxer to tame and dominate but Lopez shows that he can do that, Loma show up in his fight against Lopez. POwer, quickness, and agility are all there, but Teofimo Lopez is so good that he has answers on what Loma is bringing, so Lopex got my vote.

Well, I have to choose Tyson Fury, probably a lot of drama coming to them, and might wait for another re-match.

A short uppercut, that is how big guys make a hard punch to his opponent.

That was a funny numerous knock-out and great performance for both of them. However, the last man standing will win otherwise it results in a draw. And I have to choose them the knock-out candidate of the year if that belongs to the choices.

If I were to judge, I'd give the Fighter of the Year award to Teofimo Lopez for beating the legendary Loma after a 12-round very technical and toe to toe fight.

The Fight of the Year award goes to either Lopez vs. Loma or Fury vs. Wilder. I'm equally torn between the two. The former was a terrific battle but it may count that it ended up with just a UD and neither of the fighter falling down. The latter was an equally terrific match although it had Fury obviously on top in the later part and it ended with a bang.

And the Knockout of the Year definitely goes to Povetkin vs. Whyte. That was one hell of an uppercut that bade Whyte good night even before he started falling down and hit the canvas.

Back and forth they go The one with the tougher chin wins in the end.

I don't think it would win the award because of the "quality" but it still deserves to be nominated just by the number of KOs. I didn't even bother to count but there are plenty. It's hard to believe this is even a boxing match.

As to the winners:
Alexander Povetkin - KO of the year (real life Rocky Balboa)
Lopez - Fighter of the year
Lopez vs Loma - Fight of the year

I like Fury-Wilder but I think Fighter/Fight of the year should be the same.

Lopez for fighter of the year, it was his break out year with that huge huge win against the invincible Loma.

Knock out of the year goes to Povetkin, I mean it was out of the blue, then suddenly he hits that perfect upper cut and knock out Whyte out cold. There is a rematch, but we will have to wait and see how it goes for Povetkin to recover from the effects of Covid-19.

Fight of the year I would say Fury vs Wilder rematch, too much at stake. And Fury proved that he is the better fighter and that he should really won the first fight.

Good thread, this is bitcointalk boxing awards division. I'm not sure though if there is still fights out there that can be likely candidate for the different categories.

It's obvious, Lopez hands down should be the fighter of the year. Shutting down all the haters and doubters with a dominant and impressive wins against Loma.

I chose Fury over Lopez as fighter of the year. Lopez' win was impressive but if Loma had let his hands go earlier he would have had a really good chance of winning the fight. Fury's win was more dominant because Wilder never stood a chance and he received a brutal beating.

Zepeda vs. Baranchyk is the fight of the year. It was the type of fight that you don't see very often. It was a slugfest the whole way through and ended in a highlight reel knockout.

For knockout of the year I have to go with Davis vs. Santa Cruz, although there is also a strong case for Zepeda vs. Baranchyk. Santa Cruz was laying unconscious for several minutes and it was a scary knockout so I think that one deserves to win.

I got Fury, the Gypsy King. His fight with Wilder was big, it wasn't an easy fight but he should in two fights that he is the better fighter.
Also, not in the ring he entertain us with his boxing skills, he also has an exceptional talent in singing.

If there is i would nominate Moloney vs Franco 2. The officials of that fight did have the benefit of a review but they seem blind not to see that there is no headbutt on that fight and rule the fight a "no contest" robbing Moloney of that championship belt.

Teofimo is a big revelation because of his total domination of Loma he is now being compared to a lot of great boxers like Davis, Garcia and Haney, I believe he can give these three fighters a run for their money

Fight of the year candidate: Povetkin vs Whyte Probably the biggest upset of the year it's a one-punch that will give fear to Whyte when they face again  

Knock-out of the year candidate: Povetkin vs Whyte I watched the slow-mo replay many times and was impressed by the timing of the punch Povetkin really shows maturity in his performance.

Lol, you beat me too it buddy, I was just watching that fight again and wanted to add that to our very own boxing awards. Yes, referee Mora made a big mistake on the call. I was also thinking of adding "Comeback fighter of the year", but it is obvious that Spence will take that award.

Looks like Lopez is the sure winner for fighter of the year base votes because of the strength of his domination of Loma.

I am not a fan of Lopez but because of the Loma fight he made me a believer of his power he is on the road to greatness all he has to do is to beat those top boxers in his weight division.

This is a run away winner Whyte is out before he hit the canvass, and it came when Whyte is very much ahead on points.

I favored Teofimo Lopez as he has done a great job by destroying the invincibility of Lomanchenko and I saw also in the poll results that many also are in favor of Teofimo Lopez.

Lopez is now holding 3 titles which is great though he is not that great yet in terms of experience as he only has 16 fights but what is good is that he is still undefeated one with 12 KO's.
