I'm feeling good about life, wanted to chat a bit about what I've learnt in my experience.   This community is where it affected me the most, so I felt it was nice to post here.

Feb 14 I attended the Oilers game, then went home.   At around 1am, I decided to go out for a snack.   Got into my two month old car and I don't remember leaving my driveway.  The car stopped as it approached a barricade, and the beeping woke me up.

Then the confusion hit me.   My first thought was I was drunk from the pint I had at the game.  Turned around, and could not roll down my window to open my gate.  I didn't know it, but my left hand was just flopping around.

Finally crawled inside, then the damage started.  Since it hit me in the balance center, I would vomit every time I opened my eyes.

My next thought was that someone had spiked my drink.   After about 12 hours of dry heaving I called 9-1-1.   The ambulance arrived, took all my vitals, said I had the flu, and left.

Sometime over the next five days I posted here that my left hand was not working properly - still confused.    Finally, my mother drove me to the hospital where I said "I think I had a stroke" lol and stayed there for four days.

I initially only told Theymos what had happened to me, and then I posted about it after trolls pointed out I could be an alt.  Suchmoon and ibminer also knew, and the help they gave made it an easy choice to hand BPIP over to them.

----------

CAUSE:  I had heart surgery in 1983.   Second generation valve, it throws off clots on a regular basis.  My doctor retired (no more follow ups on my blood tests), I built a house, I gained weight and the medication couldn't keep up.

----------

FACTS YOU MAY NOT KNOW:
1) In clots, big is better.  Mine was so big it got caught in the first part of the brain to develop - the balance center.   That's good because it doesn't affect any of my limbs (evolved after the balance center obviously).   For most people, the clot travels through that part and gets caught in the left part of the brain, before the hemispheres cross.   Usually, if the clot goes further than that, it hits higher functions and you die.

2) Blood thinners do not "thin" the blood.   If a blood cell gets a certain protein, it becomes a clotter - otherwise it does not clot.  Blood thinners slow down the production of that protein.   If we didn't clot, we would bleed to death from a paper cut.

3) The brain is able to rebuild pathways to a point.  You have about 9 months after the stroke to recover your abilities as much as possible, then it slows down to almost nothing.

4) Having a clot in your balance center affects... balance.  I no longer can get a "buzz" from beer.  I go from sober to massively dizzy - no in between.

There.  I feel so much better now.  People have been posting a lot of false information, and I've wanted to clear the air for a while.  Plus, this is the first time I written my story, and I wanted to preserve the memory while it's still fresh.

Thanks for reading, if you did.   Smiley

The feeling that makes ordinary things difficult, if not impossible... I faced this when a person close to me experienced several micro strokes, then I learned that he [stroke] kills more people than cancer (at least in my country). Take care of yourself  Wink

As someone who's got a close relative that also had heart surgery, I'm always worried about what may happen if that person misses their medication or doesn't answer the phone whenever I call him/her. They regularly (2 times per year) go to their cardiologist in order to check if the "motor" is well oiled up and to see if the medication is on the right path or if it needs adjustment.

I assume you aren't taking medication for the blood or something like that? I'm still baffled of how the ambulance just discarded your case with being just "the flu". Whenever I feel like my left hand is starting to go numb or acting strange I kinda think straight away that it might be a stroke (again, relatives in my family have heart problems and this one tends to be pass on to generations) so I'm always worried about those symptoms.

Are you doing some kind of regular checkups to your heart condition or something like that Vod?

My father died from stroke 2 years ago.. the story is similar to yours he didn't felt well he went to his car with my mother, started to drive and 2 streets down the road he crashes the car. The doctors said that he died before the crash..
My mother is still afraid to be driven somewhere.
He was strong in pretty good shape  and never felt anything bad about his heart..

That's the thing with strokes.   Everyone has clots in their body, and our unhealthy diet is causing them to come loose earlier in life.

Two years ago right now I was calling the ambulance.

The thing I regret the most was forgetting I had full cloud camera coverage, including internally.  By the time I thought about looking at the footage when I passed out, it had already been deleted.  :/

I know few people who passed away due to stroke just because they are ignorant about what is this actual issue causing them to lose consciousness. And also people can be saved only if they given medical care in the right time if they lost consciousness so anyone who is having high such kind of feeling need to take regular medical check-up because health is wealth, we can't bring back a lost life no matter how much we are willing to pay for it.

Albeit my example can be extrapolated to the general population, I do defend that one of the main courses that should be taught in schools is one related with first aid. I think it's something overlooked (at least in my country) and I can't grasp my head around how can that be. Here's some numbers for you to think about:

  • According to a study[1] commissioned by the British Red Cross, up to 59 % of deaths from injury may have been prevented if first aid was given (while the emergency services didn't arrived)
  • (USA) More than 350,000 cardiac arrests occur outside the hospital each year[2]
  • (USA) According to 2014 data, nearly 45 % of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest victims survived when bystander CPR was administered[3]
  • According to RoSPA, every year in the UK more than 6,000 people die in accidents in the home and 2.7 million turn up at accident and emergency departments seeking treatment.[4] - How much would be preventable if the community knew basic first aid concepts?

These are just some of the examples that I was able to find to try and motivate whoever is reading this in taking a first aid course. You may not use it in perhaps most of your lifetime but in the small chances that you do end up needing it, it may just mean that you've saved a life (and that, by itself, is one of the most amazing things you can do). It's amazing to me what technology can do nowadays (like what the Apple watch did in this [5] and in this case [6] , but putting a higher price in this kind of technology basically prevents most people of getting the same opportunities).

I would like to see governments pushing these kind of courses but I do realize they represent a tremendous financial effort and this alone can be unsustainable for some countries but still, one cam dream right?

This is quite sad to read, you don’t seem old enough to have had a stroke. It’s good that you seem to have fully or almost fully recovered. I know money doesn’t make people happy but at least you’re financially comfortable & don’t have to slog your guts out in a factory or something. Bitcoin has been good to you & you can comfortably cover your medical bills.

Nobody deserves a stroke but I suppose being relatively young has helped. I wish you the best Vod. Have a happy & fulfilling life.

God bless you.

Most people stop being an asshole after experiencing things like this.  It's nice to see you switched things up and decided you'd say fuck your legacy and instead make as many people hate you here as possible.  All the lies, the harassment, and now attempting to pull a scam on users here by raising funds for a vaporware project.  I never respected your approach to "scam busting" here.  I also honestly don't believe you've ever saved a single user from losing a single satoshi here ever.  You have harassed a whole lot of people who tried to get into Bitcoin, maybe not knowing the proper way to approach the community that would meet your standards.  This has caused countless users to leave Bitcointalk and possibly even give up on Bitcoin which may have changed their lives for the better.  As far as negative influences on the community go, you take the cake.  I can't think of a single user responsible for chasing away more people from Bitcointalk and making hundreds or potentially even thousands of people's lives worse.  That will be your legacy.  You can blame being an asshole on your stroke if you want, but the truth is that you've likely always been an asshole your entire life.  You've chased positions of authority and been removed more times than I can list due to your horrible attitude, history of jumping to conclusions, and terrible judgement.  God bless anyone that has had the unlucky experience of interacting with you while you temporarily held these positions of authority.  I would like to think at some point you'd want to make amends for your behavior, but more than likely you'll continue to play the victim role while attacking others and spreading lies so that you can feel like less of a failure for missing out on the greatest investment opportunity of a lifetime because you were busy harassing users on a forum to try and feel superior.  A more fitting outcome I could not imagine.

Instead of those long walls of text, why don't you make amends and answer some questions?

1)  How much did you pay out in your reserve fund, which was approx 1% of the money you held?
2)  Where did the money Pirate sent you to make you whole go to?  It appears to me you profited twice - once at the start of the ponzi and the second time at the end when you embezzled everything.
3)  You stated you lost your coin with everyone else.  You stated you've never lost anyone's coin (not a single satoshi).
4)  Was Theymos aware you embezzled the money, or just that you lost everything?

You'll continue to play the victim role while attacking others and spreading lies so that you can feel like less of a failure.

I'm glad you're still with us. That post was an interesting read, it makes me want to learn more about strokes and first aid so that I can feel less lost if it happens in my life.

I wanna nitpick a part of your post, because that's the kind of guy I am!

FACTS YOU MAY NOT KNOW:
(snippity snip...)
2) Blood thinners do not "thin" the blood.   If a blood cell gets a certain protein, it becomes a clotter - otherwise it does not clot.  Blood thinners slow down the production of that protein.   If we didn't clot, we would bleed to death from a paper cut.
If your blood didn't clot at all you'd probably bleed through your eyes and other parts of your body and within your body tissues and die instantly. (disclaimer I'm not a doctor or a pro and accurate info is hard to verify but that's my understanding) No paper cut needed!

Maybe vod's legacy will be to protect people from scammers like you OgNasty! I don't wanna get into this because it's only tangetial to the topic but your NastyFan's project seems like a way to get people on the internet to pay for solar and exercise equipment on your home.
I don't wanna get into this on this topic but feel free to DM me or reply a topic in which you defend your business model. But from my perspective Vod is in the right here and you posting this wall of abuse, especially in this thread is plain stupid.

Not really.  Otherwise you'd have blot clots around your eyes, your fingernails, your hair follicles, etc.  Our blood is held in by our body naturally.  Much like a garden hose, you need a rip or tear to start a leak.

Not if your blood doesn't clot at all.

Earlier in the video it mentions that blood was coming out of his eyes and ears
Chubby Emu is licensed in the US and the cases presented are real stories (look at the about page in the YouTube Channel for a description).

That kind of makes sense to me that if blood thins enough it would pass through a lot, but maybe I'm wrong I can't find a good source on the subject.

I have seen people on blood thinners getting small cuts and bleeding like crazy though, while not bleeding through the eyes and ears so maybe it's the degree, maybe your bone marrow has to get really messed up until you get to that point which would make that kind of rare.

Thinner blood does not increase bleeding or allow blood to squeeze through healthy skin.   You will bleed from a paper cut the same as you would normally, but the blood flow will not slow down because it does not clot.   So it doesn't flow faster, it just doesn't slow down as fast.

The article says he took shrooms.   Many hallucinogens affect blood pressure and heart rate.  (That would explain the bleeding from parts of the body with thin skin - like the eyes)

(Edit: I forgot to mention that the bleeding from the eyes and ears wasn't present initially but later, if you watched the whole thing, Chubby Emu mentions that the bleeding from the eyes and ears was because of really thin blood caused by the bone marrow not working properly and not because of high blood pressure.

The patients blood pressure actually fell, by a lot.)

I was thinking that the only other time that bone marrow gets attacked and platelets don't form right is with radiation so I'd look that way.

It takes a lot of left turns for your body to get to that point. Unfortunately the first thing I found comes from CBS News, which is not trustworthy.

https://www.cbsnews.com/pictures/radiation-sickness-8-terrifying-symptoms/3/

Quote from: CBS News
Radiation sickness can cause bleeding from the nose, mouth, gums, and rectum. It can cause people to bruise easily and to bleed internally as well - and even to vomit blood.

The problems occur because radiation depletes the body of platelets, the cellular fragments in the blood that are form clots to control bleeding.

So there are the proteins that the liver produce that help with clotting but then there are the platelets themselves formed in the bone marrow, a lack of proteins from the liver is probably more likely than the platelets themselves not forming normally.

Edit: Maybe I'm cherry-picking and wrong, I don't think this part is relevant enough to the topic so other than if you chose to reply to that I'm dropping it.

Your experience, and first-hand knowledge is really valuable. I really like that facts you may not know section and my nitpick doesn't really affect that, nor do I think it's actually wrong, just that you don't need a paper cut if your blood got thin enough.

I've seen a stroke in a ferret and it took weeks for it to recover most of it's function, medication helped a lot with that.

Don't know - don't care.  I was just sharing my story, and you are sharing your story.  I obviously didn't consider radiation positioning in my scenario, but the bone marrow hit would make blood literally thinner.

What I'm really surprised by is when the ambulance people thought you had the flu and didn't realize you had a stroke. So a lot of people could get a stroke and not even know it. Did they know about your hand flopping around or any other symptoms or did you not think they were noteworthy initially, attributing everything instead to drinking a potentially spiked drink?
