I do believe that the real reason why the institutions invest money in bitcoins is because the government is crumbling during the pandemic and inflation is rising drastically, they do want a safe investment so that if something bad happens they can have at least support from somewhere

At the same time industries and businesses should be flexible, if they don't adopt these new technologies they will be left behind sooner or later and therefore this would cause major problems for them in the long run.

Now what they have though bitcoins is :
Safety
Investment
They are in par with the new technologies so have better chances of surviving in the long run.

This has always been the case with Bitcoin. Bitcoin is more like your monetary, financial, or wealth refuge. The USD and other fiat currencies are castles built on sand. The design itself is probably meant not to last.

So if you are an investor it is expected that you will keep your wealth or investment from fiat primarily because fiat is going to be devalued over time. And that is not at all unusual because that is fiat by design.

There are 2 possible reasons why these institutions invest into Bitcoin.

1. They are interested on it.
2. They use it as a hedge.

Probably the 2nd option is the main reason why they are investing into it. Institutions are hedging because they know that the inflation is very high as of this moment because of the pandemic. After this pandemic, these institutions have 2 choices. Either they will sell their holdings since things will go back to normal (or new normal) or they will just hold it.

Thanks captain obvious. I hope you're not going to add this post into your "resume" in giving financial advises to newbies for a fee Wink

Since you've covered the inflation part, these institutional investors also think it's a good or better alternative than gold investments. The price is much volatile but it's projected to increase even more by next year and they're looking to profit on that. It's like hitting two birds with one stone.

I do not think that it is the main reason that they are investing in crypto. Companies are number one priority of governments around the world because of capitalism, one example is in US where Airlines are plummeting and they do not have any emergency fund to survive the year and they come back to the government for help, the money that is used to help this capitalist cronies are taxpayer's money. I do agree with your second statement that companies are becoming flexible, in this competitive world of technology, I do think that it is imperative that they adapt to new and bleeding edge technologies.

But who knows that the institutional open their mind to accept that bitcoin can be another new way for them to make money. I guess that the money will be their reason to invest in bitcoin. But I think they will not tell the public what their motivation to invest in bitcoin is. I only wish that if more institutions can do the same as the previous institutions, bitcoin can increase and have more support. Maybe they want to have another type of investment and they curious about bitcoin, so they decide to invest in bitcoin.

You are wrong because the fiat currencies including US dollar being inflationary and losing their value more than usual these days is only one of the smaller factors that contributes to bitcoin price rise. The main factor is still the same as it has always been: adoption.
Institutional investors like others are also seeing this growth and want to join in at the early stages while the price still hasn't entered 7 figures.
After we reach mass adoption and bitcoin price reaches stability (which could take at least another decade) then the fiat inflation becomes the dominating factor for bitcoin price rise.

Liquidity in the US market is very high. Having so much cash lying around when inflation is expected to start rising and fears are for inflation to reach 5% means the prices of assets will keep rising. This recent rally in the stock markets is fueled by this liquidity and Bitcoin is becoming one of the top assets to hold as there are more companies exploring these avenues.
We have today Microstrategy, Square, and Massmutual holding Bitcoin in their treasuries. There will be more as probably banks are buying Bitcoin and some cryptocurrencies for their crypto reserves.
The message is clear when selling Bitcoin you sell to some funds, banks, and corporations that are not trading or waiting to dump. These are the strong hands as they will probably hold these assets for many years.

Allocating 5-10% of an investment fund to Bitcoin is not such a big risk for them. So even if BTC goes to 0 overnight which is highly improbable, they will only lose that 5-10%.

On the upside they have a lot to win. The risk:reward ratio of BTC is extremely enticing if you ask me + the fundamentals are strong af.

But im sure they will otherwise the instutional investors would't risk with money what is that big.
What do you say bout' Grayscale.

The company that continuously buying bitcoin and even done it before the bearish and bull markets?

I could say that  they might buy up a lot bitcoins in case after 30k 40k 50k or even higher profit takers start selling their coins i truly belive that grayscale will just buy up all the SELL ORDERS 30k to 70k at least.. Grayscale might function as the market stability that btc Price woun't go lower then 20-30k.

With this the Bitcoin Price will not collapse as long as there is biggest share holders in the game as we know from previous times like 2017 there was big selling and After big selling the panic selling started to prevent that You need to hold coins and If the orders not get filled with  prices You want the Price will go higher becouse biggest owner of coins will just not sell their coins.
And grayscale Holding now no signs to that they are gona sell it
