Do you rely on the odds when placing bets?

I think it's more important to know the sport and the teams you're betting on. Especially now with Covid, if you are not aware of the changes every team has gone through, it's very difficult to make a correct prediction. Merely relying on odds to place a bet isn't the correct strategy although it should tell you whether it's worth placing the bet or not.

You are right, knowing the sport and teams during this period of the pandemic matters alot, the recent qualifiers game my country Nigeria played recently made me have a re-think about this recent games, the players were tested of COVID-19 and they turned negative the day before the play and when they re-tested again morning before the play they were positive and that was how we lost out. I won't put odds first in placing bets but the teams players and their crisis internally.

Yeah, Covid is the exact reason I am not gonna be betting all that much this season. There is simply no way to know beforehand if players will test positive just mere hours before the game, important players too. It's one thing to have a player to accidentally get injured in the last training before a game, it's not uncommon. But with Covid you get more chances for a team to not play with the players it normally would.

Certainly the odds plays a role in building my comfort around the options I'm about placing my money on for a bet. Most times, it often happens that, bookmarkers have some information about the games that could even make a top team's odd go up even against a mid tier team, maybe because of the line ups, injury problems, match ban and things like that. So, it gets easier to build your comfort around odds that seem to agree with the teams ranking. Not like the odds confirms anything about any side winning but, being comfortable with the option your betting on helps to stabilize you a lot about the option your betting on.

It depends on the game I'm betting. If the game is at main event, I don't just base on the odds, I also rely on their previous matches to see if the lower odd team has a really higher chance to win. If it's just a casual game my bet always go to the team with lower odds. Sometimes I bet on higher odd if it's my favorite team.

Odds are an indication of the chances but every depends on you if you know the sports that you are betting your decision is all that matters, odds are good for comparison, not all odds are perfect it's like a speculation in the market, so always do due diligence first, it's your money anyway.

In betting, i do not think there is any peculiar reason to rely on the odds because it makes little or no changes to the results of the game, it only improves the better potential winning as a whole. Also, to some extents, odds can be misleading if as a better you follow odds as a criteria to choosing games to stake or bet.

So it is better to place small money when we don't have much data on each team. It will be safe for us to lose money because we don't lose too much money if the situation changes. Sometimes we will see each team will have the same odds, but when the conditions change and we don't follow the news, we can make a wrong decision.

If you have good knowledge about the  team or players risking for small odds with high amount of bets really doable, depends from how you trust those people behind the bet, it influenced the most whenver you have good glimpse from those games.

My priority for placing bets goes like this knowledge, experience and lastly the odds. Half of the time I rely on odds when i'm not familiar with certain match ups and have less information on why it's close/far than it should be. Sometimes I follow my gut when I switch to other sports that could always go either way no matter what information you have like the mma for example.

Im going to be honest. Yes. Most of the time I am relying with  those odds. But that always took as a bait with my bets, too. Because lower odds that i've chosen usually lose and it is best to know the team's capacity and previous match performance than relying on the odds itself.
 
 Been doing some parlays by myself and I prefer choosing lower odds and I tell you, it wasn't a good idea because odds may not be an indication that the team will gonna win. Part of the gambling that you'll be lucky to choose a good team with a higher odds.

its not the odds but its your bet size defines your risk if itl be big or small because on any odds big or small losses can occur but if your bet amounts are only small you only loose small but since you can still loose in any odds why not maximize the potential of your small bet amount onto the bigger odds for a much better profit .

Well Promotion is simply for advertisements and popularization while Odds must be the outcome of the game in which means predicting in some sort,though the statistics is the bass yet won't assure the result till happens.

Odds is not something to rely on, if you'll do that, it will make you bankrupt easily.
The market or the betting odds that we are saying are just probabilities according to what people think set by bookmakers, but it could be real or trap, so make sure we understand that so we will not fall for the trap, bookmakers are smart enough, it's their job to mislead people so bookies will win most of the time.

IMO, knowledge on a certain match is more important, there's a lot of good odds out there but you don't know the team who are playing, so you have no knowledge and you are just gambling using your luck, that is not good.

Regardless of the odds, the most important is you know the game and who are playing so you can analyze the game and give your best analysis before placing your bet, that way you are confident with your pick.

Odds matter a lot to me irrespective of which team is playing in any sport around the world. I place a lot of single and accumulator bets now and then and I usually check the odds through odds comparison sites carefully.

This helps finding the best value now and then. 1.01 odds might indicate a 99% winning percentage to many, but only few gamblers can differentiate whether there is value involved in such odds or not.

Checking the odds offered by different websites makes sense, but in your case it seems that you make the decision first and then just look which place would give more profit if that bet checks out, whereas I'm asking whether the odds affect the decision of whom to bet on.

Oddsmakers have locker room, behind the scenes, information sources. They know when players, athletes, teams are having drama. Not getting along. Fighting with their girlfriend/spouse. Having issues that will affect their performance.

They still can't be sure about the future, and if we accept that they actually have a better understanding who is going to win, won't they bet on the winner as well and make the odds low for the potential winner?

When it comes to sports betting, I usually make a small research before choosing which team to bet on. I usually check the last teams results (especially h2h), read latest news and experts predictions, compare the odds from different bookies...
But most of the times, I end up with a result very close to what the bookie offers.

The odds sometimes are a pointer to the outcome of a match especially when one of the team is very strong than the other. Personally I base my predictions on past records, current forms and then teams news to make my prediction. Whatever the odd is, I go for whatever I analyse to be the outcome.

Coincidence is the all mentioned factors are the points affect the odds. The higher the odds the less chance the team will win the match, the past records, and all predictions have been priced in the odds. I prefer to place the bet 15 min before the match due to the possible odds fluctuations. Choosing the best odd is possible by checking the Oddsportal or similar websites for analyzing what happens background of bookies on a specific match.

I'm not into taking low odds, it's riskier to me and I can't consider it as a safe bet.

Mostly, should always be playing at 1.8 as a minimum. I also consider taking high odds but with considerations.
