When you don't know what ends a exchange website ( .com .net .io ) there might be a problem, most especially if you are new to the exchange, today I tried to open an account for MXC exchange and because I am not familiar with the exchange I use google to search for info and this is what I found.

There are fake links to majority of crypto exchanges, this isn't the first time, when I saw .ai I knew something is wrong and again the second red flag is the Ad, that's an ad link, scammers are advertising their cloned exchanges, be very careful what you seek for mates.

Advertised sites are not endorsed by the Bitcoin Forum. They may be unsafe, untrustworthy, or illegal in your jurisdiction.

It's dangerous to search websites and official links through Google this days, in fact I don't know what is wrong with google team, they don't give a damn if ads are fake or scam, they only care about money just like everyone, where as rep must always comes first, it's better to use coinmarketcap to dig up the real link to a particular exchange you looking for

Google not moderated every ADS has been registered on their ADS.

That's why for the best security never visiting an exchange based on any search feature the phishing will always show up on the first page because they're paying with ads. I give you a few tips, If you don't know the real domain for some exchange but know the name exchange.
- Go to coin provider service like "CoinmarketCap"
- Choose Exchange List Section.
- Click link exchange from there.

This will be more safe instance using search browser, but will be always a good way is bookmark every important website you are used and click or visited by your bookmark.

Google search result ads are certainly the largest reason why there are more scam attempts and phising sites. Even twitter and Youtube are filled with fake and fraudulent accounts of exchanges and wallets. As ryzaadit mentioned, going through a reference site like coinmarketcap, coingecko or leading their through official thread from this forum could be a better idea.

Newbies should not use google search for visiting exchanges, casinos, online wallets or any crypto website wherw they have funds deposited. Phishing site that is allowed by google ads will display.

Google is at fault on this matter. They shouldn't allow such phishing links to avail their ads space. Even ponzi's, they are also not filtering it before an approval to show in google top results.

Coinmarketcap and coingecko did this right, every legit crypto data and informations can be found through this two websites so let go of google search engine when you are seeking for any crypto related websites and data informations, google sucks and even their playstore is full of fake and cloned applications

So here's the solution :

1. Don't use Google to search any kind service, exchanges, wallets etc. Firefox are better option if you don't like Tor.

2. Bookmarked the right URL

3. Install Ublock to block any kind ads.

You'll always see many phishing sites out there until you change your browser.

IMO this thread should be moved to Beginner & Help sections.

I think it's google's fault to allow such phishing website advertising to their platform. Google's exposure is so big that they actually need to rethink how they review all those ads because the impact will be significant even if these website only appears in some searched keywords.

At this point, it's not a wrong thing to assume that advertisement from google basically bloated with all these phishing site. Also, remember about the same thing happened in their play store.

If scammers are willing to pay for advertising their scam links and projects google won't mind bringing up the banner on their search engines for them, it's always about the money, they don't care about their credibility or anything

Don't ever use google to find exchanges, you are so luck to understand the difference, many newbies lose money through this type of search, scammers are getting smarter almost everyday now so stay away from search engines and start looking into crypto data engines like coinmarketcap instead

That was very common now, in almost popular exchange, to popular crypto wallets, etc. have fake duplicates And the most annoying part was Google tolerated those activities. The proliferation of those fake sites on Google is very alarming and if we are not careful, I'm sure we can be potential victims.  thats why we must observe extra precaution while visiting those links just for sure.

I must be one of the guys that skips ads and dont even look on them. Strange that I dont even have ads like OP showed or similar appeared on my google search page. I dont even have an explanation, why would someone click on ad on purpose, if he was googling something or even googling for an exchange. If I was looking for an exchange, I would spend time searching for a safe, lowest fee, quickest one, but not clicking on ad definitely.

The problem why does google let them use their platform for scam or phishing websites using the ads .they should verified first  before  they accept the ads to prevent phishing it is difficult because of that many newcomers can fall victim which is they are starting their journey in crypto currency and they don't have idea that phising is exist .

There is a lot of happens before that crypto user try to login to the sites they visit because they have similar name but the only difference is one letter and after their login to the fake account they information got of the hacker so we need to be careful for the website we visited and login our information just check every letters if it's correct to make sure that the website that you visited is legit and correct because once you make mistakes possible your funds will lose.

There are a lot of cases like this that happen, so I hope all of us can bookmark important links, including exchanges and wallets if you are not using the mobile version. most people are not careful with the links they press and scammers are getting smarter at cloning websites, so we have to be careful

Well, irresponsible people are trying to create phishing sites everywhere. they try to use a capital letter like "i" changing it to "I" to resemble the letter L to trap the user. however, it also occurs on exchanges as well as other sites where you store your data or assets. this has also happened to Myetherwallet. be careful when accessing the site. the best way to make an exchange is to try via coinmarketcap, or coingecko

It seems like online is now more dangerous than offline, not even apps are safe for downloading anymore, this google for example allows cloned crypto wallets on their store and they failed to fish all fake apps out, now their search engine is even displaying scam links and phishing websites, google is a total failure honestly, to download the correct apps now you have to find their official sources and google seem like the only way, it's time to find other ways
