Not sure if this was discussed yet and don't know if there is some restriction or kind of an agreement that Bitcointalk cannot have a widget or a tracker tool of crypto prices. I'm personally done with every time opening an extra tab for coinmarketcap and checking the price. Having it on the home page of the forum would help a lot Smiley

Yes it has, on numerous occasions:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5179850.0
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5035948.msg46095182#msg46095182
And majority of the answers was no, this quote explains a lot about it:
theymos (or some famous members) already said somewhere that this would make the forum have the "too much price dependent" vision.

1 BTC = 1 BTC. And that's what matters.

It was discussed before. Since it's easy to keep another tab open with preev, bitcoinwisdom or whatever, the usefulness of such implementation is actually small and it has opponents or simply people that don't need it.
I think that your best choice is to ask somebody make some script for you like those from List of Bitcointalk.org Userscripts/ Add-ons, for example.

Not everyone wants to stare at the price all day while browsing on the forum and those who want to can easily find a way to customize it without it being stickied at the top of the forum. I think there are even cryptocurrency themed browsers which displays the price of Bitcoin on each page.

If it could be limited to specific boards which are price oriented, such as; trading discussion, currency exchange and maybe the Wall observer thread, it could be done without disrupting the rest of the forum. I however don't know if the admin would consider it a priority to work on.

This. Or to quote Michael Scott "No. God. Please. No"

I am one of those that wouldn't like to see something like that being implemented. Few years ago I removed those price tracking apps from my phone as I was checking the damn prices 50 times per day even though I wasn't actively trading and. Now I mostly hear about the price if someone tells me about it or if I read somewhere.

I'm personally done with every time opening an extra tab for coinmarketcap and checking the price.
How hard is that? Or even better, stop checking price constantly and enjoy the ride Smiley

Bitcoin is not all about the price you will get because bitcoin enthusiast would only see bitcoin as a way that could solve problem that are present in the fiat currency or other centralized system payment in which being under by a third party service. The founder Satoshi Nakamoto would not allow that to happen due to some reason and one of it qouted below,

Quote
Banks must be trusted to hold our money and transfer it electronically, but they lend it out in waves of credit bubbles with barely a fraction in reserve. We have to trust them with our privacy, trust them not to let identity thieves drain our accounts.

So, the purpose of bitcoin should be remain as what the founder wanted it to happen. Privacy, P2P and decentralized with no third party service involve.

It's easy to implement with Userscripts, you can ask a member to do it and it won't take a few minutes.
Focusing on the price will be meaningless because you will need to use third-party applications to do the buying and selling as the forum is not an exchange platform or a wallet.

It is also possible to add it to the notifications bot if you want.
