I can only assume that there are many user of MEW here with the number of topics created about ethereum DeFis in the past. What's the issue with restoring your wallet? Did you forget your seed phrase?

Ask your question and explain in great detail what the problem is. Nobody can help you if they don't know what is wrong. In case you lost your private key, MEW or users on this forum can't help you to retrieve it. Make sure you don't respond to anyone who might contact you over PM claiming to be MEW support and asking you for your keys.

Most of the user are familiar on MEW wallet. If you forget your private key, keystore or password, There's no way to recover it but if your concern is different from what I mention, feel free to post your main issue here, just don't post any details related to your private key and etc. So that we can help you and save us both time.

In my opinion if you had lost the JSON file and private key then it would be very difficult for you to access your funds. Even in my own personal experience retreiving the lost ethereum made it even harder for me when I lost the private key and the JSON file. I am losing more or less 500$ that time when ETH was about 700$ per ETH and that was 2018 I guess on May. Anyway, I had move on already.

Yes, there are guru on this forum that can help you with restoration question of any wallet you want. But about myetherwallet, did you back up the seed phrase that was generated by the wallet while setting up the wallet on your device. If so, to recover your wallet as a whole is not an issue, just download another myetherwallet on the device of your choice, and use the recovery phrase to recover back your wallet.

To help you more with this, are you using a computer or phone? Which one did you want to use to recover back your wallet?

What happened is the I had my MEW on an iPhone which got lost.  I purchased a new iPhone and downloaded the MEW app.  I opened the app and inputed my 24 word phrase from my original MEW.  The MEW opened up but it now has a different public address than my original MEW and all of my ETH and tokens are gone.  I went to Etherscan and entered my public address and it shows all of my ETH and tokens still there.  How do I get them back into my MEW.  I thought that the whole purpose of having the 24 words was to make sure that you could fully restore you MEW?

Double check your 24 word phrase carefully.  It's been a while since I restored a wallet in MEW, but IIRC it tries to predict the words as you're entering them, it may have gotten one wrong and you didn't notice.  Hopefully you wrote the words down correctly in the first place, that would be the other possible error.

When creating a wallet with seed phrases, don't assume anything.  Best practice is to create a wallet, make note of at least one public address, then restore the wallet, and ensure the address you noted is included before using it.

I will try to restore it again using the 24 words - and yes, I did write them down correctly so perhaps it did try an autocomplete that I didn't catch.  One reason that I know that my ETH and tokens are still there is that I kept my public address for that wallet.  I also have the entire trade history on CoinSwitch that shows the date, times, amounts, hash, etc of every coin and token that I moved to MEW.  Now I just need to gain access to them again.  Thanks for everyone's help - hopefully, I can get this worked out.

Three attempts to restore using the 24-word phrase and still no success.  I have watched the YouTube video above and followed the directions exactly, but still no coins or tokens in my MEW after it's been restored.  When entering the 24-words, if you misspell a word it will not take it.  If you enter in one of the words wrong it will not let you hit the restore function - it stays disabled.  When you enter everything in correctly it will let you restore it but it shows no value in the MEW.  Any more suggestions?

It's starting to sound like you are trying to restore the wrong seed phrase or you miswrote one of the words.  Do you have any other seed phrases written down?  If not, you can go through the Bip39 word list and look for words that you could have transcribed erroneously.  I've gotten tripped up with liberty and library in the past...  Words that share the first three letters could be the culprits.

That's why I suggest you never use a wallet until you confirm that you can restore it.

What I can't understand is how it will take the 24-word phrase and restore it.  You would think that if one of those words was wrong it wouldn't restore it.

It's not about entering the wrong seed phrase as you were able to log in into your account. Your only issue is finding the right address that holds your eth and your tokens.

Did you try to log in on the official website using mewconnect [app] https://www.myetherwallet.com

You will see there that one seed phrase has multiple set of eth addresses. All you need to do is to look for the address that has your balances.

There are multiple ways of deriving addresses from phrases, and using a different path will lead to a different set of addresses from the same phrase. However, different hardware wallets and different blockchains can have different default paths, so if you end up using the same phrase on different devices or interfaces, you can run into trouble. It seems like a weir case, if the 24 recovery seeds hold all those addresses means then whatever balance was available actually supposed to be shown right or we need to pick the right address by ourselves. I used MEW in the past buts its be a long since I used and only used on the PC not in smart phones via MEW connect app. Hope OP can find the right address, if possible he can post his address here so people may help him further.

Hey Op try to download mycrypto wallet. It could be the solution to your problem because if you have inputted correct words without any problem and you can't see the address were your balance is. Your money is still there.

Try to download the wallet and restore your words through it and it may show you the wallet where you have the balance and you can withdraw it to an address you want. Do it on a PC for easier process.

Have you tried installing metmask and try to import your wallet there using your seed?

Or try this one, log into myetherwallet.com using your seed. If any of this is successful, get your privatekey and use it to import on your phone MEW.

Note: to find your private key in myetherwallet, try print and it will display.

I think he will find used addresses in his seed by using MetaMask. With myetherwallet, you havn't access to all addresses, once you generate a new one you can't see back the old used addresses.
Iancoleman remains to be the best solution but this is not for everybody as it requires the minimum of technical knowledge.

When we do talk about restoration then this do pertain about access of the wallet and we know that MEW had several options.

-Access by Mobile App
-Access by Hardware
-Access via MEW CX
-Access by Software
 • Keystore
 •Mnemonic phrase
 •Private key

If you dont have specially that phrase or PK then there no way on accessing it.
