DeFi has been a bomb in 2020 so far, that's the truth.

There were many DeFi projects being announced to the world. The appearance of UNI is like a savior in the midst of the downtrend.

Now when Bitcoin is back in the game and Ethereum V2 is coming to town, DeFi is likely to take a huge leap next year.

I think next year, Yield Farming will still be the core of DeFi development.

Let's see what else will come.

What more do you think Defi will do in the future?

There are still so many holes in defi and you must see that if a bunch of defi that offered the flash loans were getting hacked by the hackers. APY is not a solution and that's a garbage idea caused by the defi itself is only using its crap token to be distributed to the farmers. The defi can't generate the income from its service. APY is the worst thing in DEFI.
This defi platform needs time to be more matured than before.

To begin with, DeFi concepts is really revolutionary and this is what made a lot of developers to create many DeFi projects thus causing the massive hype this year; that is, the early good DeFi projects brought about a very good idea and use case, investors got attracted to it, it grew and generated a lot hype. However, this hype as usual attracted a lot of scammers who leveraged the hype to enrich themselves. Also, this hype attracted a lot of developers who do not have enough experience to create and manage Defi projects, thus the reason there are many hacks on Defi projects. Now currently, the hype is no more and many of these DeFi projects are seen for what they truly are.
Therefore, in my own opinion, DeFi is good and there are just few good projects, but however, if only many developers will work hard and bring about trustworthy projects, then this space will feel the impact of Decentralized Finance.

Defining the future already shows us a little immaturity and designing a future for a given project is a complement to that. In my opinion there is a technological cycle that we can analyze from the appearance of Bitcoin to the present and all the technologies that appear are to raise or transcend a current problem. So we can find new technologies in addition to DeFi.

I will rather tell you what they wont do. Very soon 90% of this DeFi project will be history because most of them are confused and overhyped with zero novelty. Kingswap is one of them (Uniswap copycat). They claim to be regulated decentralized finance. All of them offer similar features NFT staking, farming etc with zero knowledge of the best blockchain that suit what they intend to achieved. High transaction gas fee is the killer of DeFi projects that are majorly launched on Ethereum blockchain. Some of them have gone through unsuccessful movement to binance blockchain (BSC). ETGF is one of them. We all see what happen to Uniswap after farm reward was settled. Apart of the YFI that later produced a fork YFII I am yet to see a much relevant DeFi project with many potential that we can look forward to

DeFi has lost too much from incomplete projects and dubious code that was supposed to be audited yet contained various vulnerabilities. Millions were lost though. Not to add the scammer devs that had control of too many tokens and dumped them in the market or the Sushi dev dumper that had some big names to promote his junk.

One of the new hype that is likely to topple over time and the amount of fraudulent drama that occurs. Maybe this is because the cryptocurrency space is very vulnerable to fraud. Scammers are not eyeing the blockchain, but they are targeting our careless people who are very easy to provoke.

I think DeFi will still be replaced by something newer hype, whether it's next year or a few years later.

Defi are the future of crypto. With no middleman and a small service fee, exchange, trading and all sort of banking would be just more easy, beneficial and productive for everyone. Total decentralization maynot be all in one solution against bank but they'll eliminate many of the banking functions. And rest would be captured by centralized exchanges. But not all of these Defi would make it to the future, to be real I don't think any of the current defi would be future proof.

Yes, and this has also been predicted by several people before, although many people just ignore it because they are lulled by the profit they got at that time, even though it is very clear that most of the DeFi project is fake and will experience a huge waste and will never last long.

I tend to agree. Mostly of defi projects will have their project died in the end. Only few of those will likely to survive. I like defi to be honest cause they open a lot of possibilities that we can do with different functions and features of smart contract. What I dont like is that its being abused by most of the other fake projects using only on scamming.

I agree as well.
There is no future for DEFI. THey are mostly a buzzword.  There is nothing decentralized about them, and lending is something just as old as money. But there are so many people in this cryprocurrency ecosystem that never heard of interest rates....

I think  most of them are scams and everyone should stay away from 90% of those projects.

What more do you think Defi will do in the future?

IMHO, I believe that all you are mentioned are good for the future of the Defi sector. But If the current problems and loopholes still persist, I don't think it's good for the future of the Defi sector. Because doubt maybe arises if scams and the sudden disappearance of crypto deposits in their position will continue to happen it should be fixed to erase all doubts if possible.

Nothing TBH, I don't see deFi as a system with a future but just hype, I don't know how deep you've bought into the deFi hype, but do not expect any long term success from most, if not all of it's projects, quite a few people have prolly made some ROI on the platform, but that's that, the hype trend isn't something that can be sustained for an indefinite period of time, by next year, I'm sure the scams will be overwhelming and the system may not survive it, just like it was with ICO or IEO.

Defi are the future of crypto.

This is not true, with time investors will realize that Defi hasn't got what it takes to have a future in crypto, mind you that as you talk big about the DeFi network, be careful when investing in it, so you don't make so much losses when it crashes, or rather when the hype dies off completely.

The only legit defi that keep generated more and more funds to be used as operation fund will be alive. So many defi projects have been created to be money grabber project. We can't deny the fact that if there will be bunch of defi will be going to the graveyard as soon as possible. It's just the matter of time until more and more defi will have gone.
The competition is very strict these days between any defi platforms.

what about the many cases of hacks that attack Defi, won't this affect the Defi ecosystem in the future. Defi provides financial solutions that traditional platforms do not have, but on the one hand they are very vulnerable.
is decentralization worth the risks? this is what I always think about Defi. think decentralization is the solution to existing problems, but they also present new problems.
for now I think Defi's future looks sketchy. as long as the defi platform is still haunted by hacks. this won't be good for Defi.

There's not that much to offer from Defi and it's all about everyone can earn from them. But that doesn't remove the risk that it has and those who have tried it out the earliest haven't thought of it and luckily, it's a success for them.

And as defi progresses, you will start to see many of them go passive next year. Well, you can actually see many of them are not doing good this year. That's already the hint about them.
