Trump is not the type of man who would pardone himself. He is focused on his goals and victory.
That is what is most important to him.

So....
Its getting down to the finish line.
I predict we are going to see a flurry of pardons any time now.
Its going to be interesting to see if our dear old DIMPOTUS (Double Impeached ....)  actually decides to pardon
some  of his delusional worshipping followers who stormed the capitol, now that they are having their 15 minutes of fame on the intertoobz, which will no doubt convert to 10 years in the Stoney Lonesome....
(unless of course they get a pardon from their Supreme Being Orangeman Leader because they were true patriots, doncha know....)

I'm surprised he's waited so long, today was his final Friday as president, the day you usually pardon people if you don't want it to hit a weekday cable news cycle.

Imagine if he was planning to pardon himself and family but got surprise 25th amendmented.

Typically outgoing Presidents will make a flurry of pardons on their last day in office, in the morning (they leave office as of noon that day). I would expect the same for Trump.

Pence as already indicated he is not going to invoke the 25th amendment, and the Senate is not in session until the 19th. Unless Trump resigns prior to the end of his term, he is not going to be removed from office.

The real attempted voter fraud... perpetrated by DIMPOTUS himself.
And in this case, there is actual recorded evidence.
(Unlike the 69 nonsensical cases, lost or laughed at by judges thrown out, filed by DIMPOTUS and his clown car lawyer team.)
And a self pardon ain't gonna cut it, apparently...

Quote from: The New York Times
ATLANTA — Prosecutors in Georgia appear increasingly likely to open a criminal investigation of President Donald Trump over his attempts to overturn the results of the state’s 2020 election, an inquiry into offenses that would be beyond his federal pardon power.
The new Fulton County district attorney, Fani Willis, is already weighing whether to proceed, and among the options she is considering is the hiring of a special assistant from outside to oversee the investigation, according to people familiar with her office’s deliberations.
At the same time, David Worley, the lone Democrat on Georgia’s five-member election board, said this week that he would ask the board to make a referral to the Fulton County district attorney by next month. Among the matters he will ask prosecutors to investigate is a phone call Trump made in which he pressured Georgia’s secretary of state to overturn the state’s election results.

Yeah this is all true.  There was a day or two after they stormed the Capital that Pence hadn't responded and reports said Trump hadn't even spoke to him for days - if there was even a small chance of 25th being invoked, smart play would be to pardon yourself immediately.

The Washington DC AG is also considering indicting him for his joint session of congress stunt.

As they arrest members of his cult they keep saying the same thing to the FBI "I did it because Trump asked us patriots to save the country".  Probably don't even realize how bad they're fucking him.  Although some of them might be realizing how bad Trump fucked them.  A few have already asked him for pardons - seems unlikely he'll pardon them though, nothing it in for him.

^So true.

I cant wait to see if he tries to pull off a self-pardon "deal".
Regardless of whether it works or not, he's gonna look like the f*****g criminal shyster that he is. And that's being kind.

Every president is giving out pardons right before leaving office. It's just normal and might be part of some campaign promises to some rich folks. He isn't really doing it for publicity or anything since the election is long over. Only question I have is why not just pardon Edward Snowden? It's been a long time now since he moved to Russia. Why not bring him back?

I don't doubt that Trump will be prosecuted by many local prosecutors, but I doubt they will stand up to Supreme Court scrutiny, at least as long as the case is heard prior to Democrats packing the court. Trump's speech in DC is clearly protected on first amendment grounds, as bad as it was for Trump politically.

With regard to Trump's phone call with the GA Secretary of State, I understand the conversation was settlement talks over a dispute that Trump was a party to. If this description holds up, it would be very improper for the GA Secretary of State to release the recording of the call, and in any case, what Trump was saying does not fit the statutes regarding Voter fraud.

Seriously dude? If that isn't attempted voter fraud, I don't know what is.

Meantime, more pardon talk.

And some more talk about a presidential self pardon.

Yes, Trumps speech is protected on first amendment grounds.
But the first amendment doesn't protect you from being held criminally liable for inciting violence.  Since nobody is suggesting Trump shouldn't have been allowed to give a speech in DC, I'm not sure what your point is.

With regard to Trump's phone call with the GA Secretary of State, I understand the conversation was settlement talks over a dispute that Trump was a party to.

They were discussing the general election.  The dispute was over whether or not the GA SOS would report that Trump received more votes than Biden, which would be a crime.

Trump tried to convince him to commit this crime through various forms of begging, threatening and bullying.

criminally liable for inciting violence.

Can he pardon himself for things that happen in the future? Because that's surely his biggest issue at the moment.

I think everyone is expecting some Trump-fuelled insurrection around the country on inauguration day. There's a reasonable chance that people will die, and that Trump will refuse to condemn the perpetrators, and thus open himself up to further charges of incitement... by which time he'll no longer be POTUS and no longer able to contrive a pardon for himself.

He can only pardon people for crimes that have already been committed. It's not clear if he is able to pardon himself.  If he does, he can still be indicted - but they would need to litigate the pardon before moving forward with the cases.

I'm thinking he may just not pardon himself or his family and plan on using the fact he didn't pardon himself or family as evidence that they didn't commit a crime.  It's obviously a stupid defense, but would be repeated millions of times by Americans who believe it.

That's the one I was watching out for, too. My assumption—and I think it's a reasonable assumption—is that Tiger Joe will be lined up as Trump's running mate for '24. Plus a <collective noun> of big cats would really supplement his insurrectionist army.

I would imagine, given what we see of his personality, that Trump will only pardon those he thinks will be able to return the favour somewhere down the line.

I heard Biden was considering Carol Baskin for Secretary Of State.

I would imagine, given what we see of his personality, that Trump will only pardon those he thinks will be able to return the favour somewhere down the line.

Or he could pardon Biden, Pelosi, Schumer, etc so that he could claim that (a) they're criminals and (b) it's very ungrateful of them to proceed with the impeachment anyway.

Yes, I've been reading too many BADecker's posts.

Well you have to admit, how else would we keep up with the in vogue lunatic fringe website links and latest hair brained comical conspiracy theories?

Whoah, that wouldn't be a bad idea.

Imagine the headlines if he pardoned Hillary.

The Lil Wayne pardon is the most hilarious. I have no clue what federal charges he's caught up on, but it sure does explain why he randomly endorsed him for reelection last year. Something seemed a bit off about him dabbling in politics...at least we know why he signed a deal with the devil lmao.

Haven't seen much info about a pardon of Snowden. Not very optimistic.
